Does it seem as though the cars are parked much further along the beach this year?
They appear to be as far as The Waves,I wonder why! :o

Never mind the doughnut man where's Stavroula? Haven't seen her for weeks!
But to get back to the doghnut man,I remember a few years ago, in those heady days of the drachma, a lady sitting near us on the beach
bought a doughnut and some squashy strawberries, handed over her cash and then sat gazing at the pitiful amount of change
she got back. She could have bought a meal for the amount she was charged.I'm surprised that the council allow him to trade.

Yes he does sardines but don't expect them to be as big as Portuguese ones. Also they only fish for sardines during certain

phases of the moon but I can't remember the significance of this or whether it has to be a full moon,a new moon or no moon at all!!

Not quite clear what you mean Justine. You don't expect to get an Easy Jet shuttle bus from Corfu Airport to San Stefanos do you?
If you are going with a tour company they arrange the coaches to the various resorts,if you are going independently you will need to book a taxi.

Manthos Taverna,in the old part of the village. He buys the fish from the van that comes up from the new harbour so you know

it is fresh as it has came straight off the boats. He will even encourage you into the kitchen to choose your own fish.

If you go for an evening meal best not to leave it too late as it can get busy and you can't pre-book tables.
I'll be there in three weeks time as well maybe we'll all meet up at Bellissimo!!

  Rod,
I'm going to attempt to give clear directions to Bellissimo,so bear with me.
If you go from the direction of the Old Port, which is where the main car park is,or if you go on the coach with San Stef Travel
cross the road taking extreme care to avoid speeding taxis and scooters,go past The Black Cat restaurant(a well known landmark)
and that will take you to the main shopping street the Nikiforou Theotoki, where all the Tshirt and touristy shops are.
A few hundred yards along on the left hand side you will come to the alleyway which leads to Bellissimo. At the entry to the alley there is pharmacy sign(green cross on a white background) also another sign on the wall advertising a solicitors office.
I hope you find it,it feels like a peaceful little oasis in the hubbub of Corfu Town,a pretty little square and the food's not bad either .

We always eat in a restaurant called Bellissimo,in fact it's a perfect place to have a meal especially in the evening.
It is set in a pretty square called The Lemon Tree Square just off the N Theotoki, which is the main road you would take
after Noula's coach drops you off.
If you walk up that road it is on the left hand side down a little alley which then opens up into the square.

The towels we bought from Pele and Maria's are still going strong after at least ten years. They wash well and are lightweight, well worth the money.

I went on the trip to Albania two years ago and didn't have any problems with beggars. There were a few young boys selling cheap bracelets

at Butrint but the weren't a nuisance and didn't persist when politely told "no thank you".  The drive from Saranda to Butrint was interesting

and a real eye opener,I don't want to say too much or spoil the surprise for people who may be planning to go.

I would advise you to take a few sandwiches and bottles of water, the "ample buffet" which was promised was neither ample or very nice.

Having said all that it was an interesting day and I'm glad I made the trip.

It's all very well getting the local bus into Corfu Town because in San Stefanos you are the first ones on,but getting back is another thing

when there are about 200 people trying to get on to a single decker coach (only English people queue) we ended up getting a taxi back

rather than risk being trampled in the rush. Believe me you are far better booking with San Stefanos travel, costs 10 or 12 euros which

works out cheaper in the end.

Just to clarify that last post.I am not the one who buys 9 bottles of gin at Lidl on the way from the airport to San Stefanos.that would be

Papapedros,my tipple of choice would be Vodka or Ouzo.
