The there was Vlad The Black Dog, who could be seen prowling the village mysteriously at night.

And Natasha, the Ukrainian poet:

I enjoyed the flurry of postings where people assured Natasha that San Stef was an incredibly broad-minded place.

And plenty more. The forum was a lot of fun then!
For those that don't know, Natasha was a figment of Jimbo's imagination.  He has some imagination, good fun, good guy.

To explain to those who weren't here at the time, the reason the man who called himself Yiannis (he was late-middle aged Englishman) left was that in almost every post he made he promoted Romanza and Mythica (the taverna owned by Romanza and no longer there). Many people became fed up with this and said so. Eventually he stormed off.

The "heated" debates were often about trivial things - for example, were some people being given Kumquat marmalade at breakfast at Romanza? That one ran and ran, and became a running joke. Actually, some people took their own Kumquat jam to breakfast!

I think people these days are over-sensitive to disagreement. I like issues to be debated. For example, in 1944 Churchill ordered British troops, allied with pro-Nazi collaborators, to fire upon a peaceful demonstration in Syntagma Square in Athens. 20 were killed and over a hundred injured. It's known to Greek people as Dekemvriana. That's just one example of Churchill's dreadful actions. Heated debate, anyone?
I prefer your kumquat jam stories Jimbo.  However, the devil dog stories in San Stef were quite interesting.

Hi Chloe,
My wife and I have had the privelage of meting you (well booking a trip) and you were great, even though you couldn't give us our tickets for Corfu Town because the printer was "knackered".

I had to check my profile but I have been a member since October 2009.  I don't wish to bore you all but I joined the forum as I was so excited to be be going back to San Stef after more than 25 years.  I remember sitting in the Little Prince chatting to Dimitri in 2010 and telling him that I was in the village back in the early to mid 80's (I'm hopeless with dates but it was probably 1984 or 1985).  He was gobsmacked and grilled me as to what was open etc.  He was convinced when I told him the correct places.

I love the place and luckily the girlfriend to be wife also fell in love with it in 2010.

I haven't posted for a while so my apologies.  I have re-booked my Fedra Mare two week stay, that should have been the middle of June, to the beginning of September.  Apartments and flights booked and fingers crossed.  The lovely people of San Stef need our support more than ever.  I totally understand other tourists giving 2020 a miss for a summer holiday but I personally think we are going to be ok to holiday by September.

Do I sound convincing? ::)

Radarman,  thanks for your concern and help.  WINKIE (john and Moira) have also been a great help.  I (eventually) received a response from Fedra Mare yesterday regarding my booking and airport pick up.  This site is so good for help about anything to do with San Stef.  Thanks again to you all and enjoy your holidays!   8)

I'm still concerned that I can't contact Fedra Mare.  Are Dimitri and Charitini on holiday or something?

WINKIE, I don't do Facebook but thanks anyway.  Not sure who Harri is by the way.  I've met Dimitri and Charitini.

Hello all, I wonder if anyone can help me (I'm thinking you Lesley).

I have booked a fortnight in June with Fedra Mare direct and I'm trying to get in touch with them.  I booked last November and I have been trying to make contact to organise "pick up times" etc.  Initially I was dealing with Charitini via e-mail and telephone but I don't appear to be making progress as of late.

I hope someone can help.

Thanks.

Cheers Waspman.  We love our 2/3 day adventure on the quad bike.  The views alone from Afionas are mind blowing and it's a hard slog to walk there.  We love to park up , have lunch in one of the mountain tavernas and free wheel back "home" to San Stef.

Has anyone heard any news regarding the hiring of quads?  A regular visitor to San Stef was telling me that tourists were not allowed to hire them anymore.  He says it's a Greek ruling and not just confined to Corfu.  Is this true?
