I Think we ned to start a new Post for this now!
We will be there in the first two weeks of Sept 2010,
so who can I expect to meet up with from the forum?
It will be really nice to say "Hello & Yammas" to any of you Stefofiles who will be there then,
in the magic land of San Stefanos!! LOL

booked for may21st for 2 weeks then looking to book for september 10th for 2 weeks for my 50th birthday even though my birthday is october we think it will be better weather

Don't like wishing my time away but looking forward to it already, but i can wait ;D.
UK winter to come, let it snow let it snow - love the stuff - break on the South Coast late Jan (can't afford Canaries like some of you on here!), Cheltenham Festival in March (horses for those not in the know), benidorm for long weekend in April - oops, let it slip again! - then San Stef in June.

hi all
we will be going to san stef on the 25th june and staying at the rose garden apts for two weeks...i am so looking forward to it as we didn't go this year due to having our daughter tia early this year she will be 16 months by the time we go along with our other daughter who will be 6... GOD HELP US...so me and my partner macca will be taking my mother along as well...looking forward to meeting some of you guys and gals.

My wife and I are staying in the Mythos apartments (opposite Rose Gardens) on June 18th for two weeks. It has coincided with the football world cup and we were so pleased the Greek national team qualified. It should be a cracking atmosphere. We both love our football thankfully. Can't wait!

We were there during Euro 2004 when Greece won. That was one monumental party. All through the tournament the atmosphere was electric. You will love it. Just wish we could be there!

I'll echo that as well - I was in San Stef the night Frank Bruno won the Heavy-weight World Championship.
We watched it in the Condor which was packed solid - and boy did we all celebrate!!
Long time ago now!!
In fact it was on 2 September 1995, that Bruno finally became world champion by outpointing McCall over twelve rounds.
But It's always nice to get a British World Champion in any Sport!!

We are returning for two weeks from August 6th, having discovered San Stefanos by accident last year staying at The Nafsica.
This time however we are taking our 3 daughters (23, 21, 18) + 1 partner to help celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary - not the cheapest alternative to a knees up at home, but a lot less hassle and way more relaxing!
Two apts, staying at Theodosia - can't wait!
(I also can't believe I'm old enough to have been married 25 years!)
Does anyone have particular thoughts/recommendations on where to spend "our special night's" meal?!
We only ate at the hotel last year (boring I know, but we'd already paid a bundle!) and are looking forward to trying new places this year - nice to be able to say "this year" at last.
Would be interested to hear your nominations for a not so romantic, but special occasion meal for 6!!
We are hoping someone else will offer to pay!

Depends on the night really, some will say the more obvious ones with Greek dancing,
but I would go across the road from the Nafsika and use the Beachcomber Bistro,
sit out on the balcony tables, when the sun sets over the bay in one of the top and very best Restaurants in the Resort.
A perfect setting with great food for an anniversary - we also went there for ours - it was a wonderful night.
Book in advance for a good table, see Sue and have a chat - Nikki the Chef can change the menu a touch on the night to suit
or for something extra special ask in advance. you can't go wrong there!
Many will endorse this choice as the restaurant is modern and different, background music is good as well - it has that feel-good factor.
or Ozzie Oils when Kerry is singing, nice surroundings, different menu (& its just past the Mythicia which has great food as well).
All the other Restaurants are v/good as well, but you need that special setting as well for this occasion.
We stayed at the Theodosia last year as well, ask for a front facing room to get the breeze off the sea,
don't have the upstairs room whose balcony faces into the town away from the beach (East facing),
the sun streams straight into the bedroom (and your face), as the sun rises - you won't sleep - just nets on the window.
Our son and his wife had that room and had to change it.
Our front facing first floor room was brilliant!

have to agree with tony the beachcomber has fantastic food also ozzys oils or mythicas but for the added bonus of the sunset has to be the beachcomber

as per a previous world cup story - we were in Poros when Greece won the euros - great atmosphere! gunfire etc after (in a good way). Mind you Ebgland nearly were as popular as the germans ( I joke). Three people cheered when England scored - on the island!

Remember Portugal knocking England out very well. We intended to watch the match but fell asleep. There was this "man" in a Man Utd shirt sitting on the kerb outside the Athens bar blarting his heart out because they had lost! Still one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Didn't dare video it though. Wish I had!

Welcome to the forum indeed - always a pleasure to find new members and newbies to San Stefanos.
The Nafsika is a nice place for your first visit, The "Old-boy" George is the owner and Speros his son tends to do most of the General Management there. They do Greek Dancing as well! Vangellis is one of the nicest waiters, a genuinely friendly bunch.
Very Friendly and a good base, food good, nice bar, great breakfasts.
Try a couple of other restaurants, while there, opposite is the Beachcomber Bistro, brilliant meals, watch the sun go down over the beach.
Manthos Taverna also opposite does a Greek night,
but I would eat at the Nafsika and go over for the Bar and show, as you are half board.
Also try the Mythica and Ozzie Oils for great meals, Little Prince or Zorba's for entertainment while you eat,
The Condor is a music bar - plus live entertainment and tribute acts, but for all age groups - (it's not a teen bar), and you feel comfortable and welcome.
Other venues close by do shows and entertainment other than Greek Dancing as well.
Anywhere you go out for a meal will be good in S S.
Makes for a great night out - and it's all in walking distance within 5 mins or so.

That's where my wife and i stayed on our 1st visit in 1993! We didn't return until last year though and stayed at Terezas. This year we've done Ejet and private booking at Fedra Mare, arriving on 7 June as well.

Aug 6-20th for us.
We'll be the ones eating platefuls of stifado and kleftiko while our son just eats burgers, pizza or spaghetti ::)
He has a severe nut allergy so he has a limited diet being as I dont speak greek to explain to the waiters.
Pizza and spaghetti and burgers are pretty safe so he just eats those for 2 weeks! ::)

Been to San Stef for the last 22 years in July/ August, mainly staying at Anatoli. In addition spent a week in May two years ago and decided to go back for another week this year before returning again in July. We loved May; the freshness of the fields (and the people in the Tavernas who have that extra bit of time to chat), the wild flowers that are long gone in the heat of summer, time and enthusiasm to take walks when the summer heat is a deterrent to anything more than a Retsina and doze on the beach - great. The weather may not lure one down to the beach every day but there is always something to do, and if the isn't we go and sit and watch the sea roll in at Manthos or The Waves. Yes, look forward to it, even if we have to make the 600 mile round journey from Cornwall to Gatwick rather than the more convenient Exeter or Bristol

Your record is not far short of ours so you will know the place just as well as we do.
Our first time in 1983 was with a company called Greek Connection Holidays, Katie was the Rep at that time.
This was when she met Michalis, fell for him and Married within a couple of years.
We have stayed 3 times with Michalis and Katie at the Anatoli (the Apartments you use a lot).
It was some years ago now, but they are a good choice of Apt. with a good view overlooking Kamini bar & Manthos Taverna.
One year we stayed there and saw the most superb Lightning show out to sea! Some storm that was!!
We have been there (to S S) in every month of the season at different times, this year will be early Sept.
May is lovely and hopefully will be dry for you.
My Mother was a Cornish Girl, born in St Austell, lived in St. Germans and then Redruth,
before moving to London as her Father was a Civil Servant who was promoted and transferred there.
Cornwall itself is also lovely, and living there I can understand your love of the wild flowers etc.
Anyway - welcome to the Forum, any contributions will be most welcome!
You may bump into Zoe & Roy,or Mike & Carole (or others in fact), from the forum as they are all going in May!

We're arriving on the 22nd August and stopping at the Romanza. ;D
Before that though we have a week in Sharm El Sheik to look forward to!
Really looking forward to our first visit to Corfu, we holidayed (honeymoon) at the Nine Muses in Skala, Kefalonia a couple of years ago and we're hoping San Stefanos will be similar.
Counting the days....anyone fancy a beer ;)

welcome to the forum gavlah 1973 nice to know you are coming to gods country san stef and to a nice hotel ive not stayed in the place but we have many times had a meal or just a drink its got one of the best views in s/stef next to the teressa hotel just down the hill from it .im sure that one of our forum members, yannis 26 will enlighten you about any thing you require about the hotel as he,s a regular to the place hope this will help you a bit just keep on line and imsure you will get plenty of advice on this subject looking to meet you one time in the resort for that mythos beer ha ha ha yammas mike. ::) :o ;D :D :)

Keep an eye on this forum and you will see arrangements in place for a meet on the 1st or 2nd of Sept, for Forum Members.
The Romanza is a great Hotel and a Brilliant family run it - known for good food as well!
The Hotel is Located on top of one of the Hills, but has a great view at Sundown.
Have a great Holiday - we are sure you will like it - again, as Mike say's,
Yannis stays there - he can answer any specialist questions you may have!

We have a week in Egypt first in May but we're really looking forward to Corfu. It's one island we've never been to before.
We did love the tranquility of Skala, Kefalonia and we're hoping San Stef will be the same.
The Romanza looks terrific. A guy who my wife worked with stayed there and rated it so it should be great.

We went there in December to a fantastic hotel - The Royal Albatross Moderna Beach Hotel.

Hi mate. We're staying at one called Ghazala Gardens right in Naama Bay. Check it out on Trip Advisor. Think it's rated 12. We paid 1200 all in for a week. That includes ajunior suite with direct pool access!

We went to Naama Bay a couple of times this time, we may have seen it as the name is familiar, but not sure - sounds good anyway!
Take some Bimuno with you, it helps to ward off tummy trouble - Google it!! It does work!!

I've heard that we're pretty much nailed onto get a dodgy belly. I have pretty much an iron constitution......it's the wife I'm worried about!
Dont really know what to expect, I've been told to keep my head down and walk fast in Naama Bay to avoid being dragged into the shops. I think we'll only go out a couple of times....Hard Rock (cheesy I know but we're on a mission to get to as many as possible, list so far stands at Barcelona, New York twice, Manchester, Leeds, Amsterdam) and probably to the Tavern pub to watch the footie one afternoon.
If we like it then were going to go back for 2 weeks and take in the Pyramids etc. This times more for a chill out and to get a base tan for San Stef!

I never - ever - usually get Tummy probs, but in Egypt, they do not sell toilet rolls in the locals' shops.
so in the Sinai Desert there is little water - and they handle banknotes!
That is usually where 90% of bad tummmy runs come from. Take usual precautions, and wash hands every time you handle notes!!
Bimuno is a pre-biotic that is proven to work - why take the risk!

Going back finally again to heaven on earth that is San Stefanos after an unfortunate break last year.We are going for 2 weeks from 13th Aug,staying at Christinas Apts.Its my 50th birthday in April this year and I cannot think of a better place to have a belated celebration!!

Booked a Holiday today 8) sadly not to San Stef :'( BUT!.....I'm going to Arillas! 2nd August staying at Anna's (I'm a sucker for Hills!) only 1 week this year tho :'( We've just bought our 17 yr old son a little run about (Fiat Punto) and he's off to Uni this year too, so the finances are pretty stretched! never mind it'll be fab! I just wonder how many days we'll spend in SS! lol

For those that don't already KNOW .. if you price a holiday with Thomson, check the same holiday with PORTLAND
If they do the same holiday they are often cheaper than Thomsons (although both are owned by TUI) ;)

We've saved loads of cash in the past by booking through Thomson but flights and accommodation seperately. Even with transfers organised by Noula we have saved cash.

We are coming up fast to our second visit to San Stefanos.We are arriving on 4th May and staying at the Romanza (again) for two weeks.
I haven't noticed on the forum of anyone who is going on the opening weeks of the new season so does this mean we are going to be the only ones there?
My wife and I are really looking forward to the holiday and it will be interesting to see the difference in San Stef from the last time we went which was in September 2008.I have been keeping up to date on the forum of all the news and any changes that have taken place since we were last there.Roll on May 4th

Hi Sanstef Holfan - - - The first week in May when the season opens, you will find that not every establishment will be open.
This can be good as it concentrates the people into those open and there should still be many visitors there.
Yes it will be a touch quiet, but we (and many others ) have done May and liked it.
I doubt there will be any water sports open until later in May - slight possibility of odd showers, but should be great still.
Enough to keep you busy!! May feels fresh and if the sun shines every day - you will enjoy it!
Zoe is another who goes every May, so she may well comment, likewise a few live there and have views as well!

I wouldnt mind the Volcano blowing again while I am in San Steph.
Being stranded in SS for a month or two would suit me fine ;D

Hi i'm staying at the Vicky Studios with my daughter.We arrive August 13th for one week.I'm really looking forward to it.San Stefanos sounds fantastic.We have been to Corfu before in 1992,we stayed in Moraitika that time.It was our first time abroad and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Going for the 1st time in May on 21st. My wife is 50 when we're there so its a little special this trip. Back then in July for our usual 2 weeks. Both times staying at the Fedra and looking forward to them immensly.

i tredegar boy ,we are going on the 21 may staying at the terresa hotel we have been twice in may and the weather has been very hot in the 80 degrees and not to busy and good for sightseeing the island and great for swimming we may cross paths in san stef we go nearly every night in the thomas bay for the fun ,hope you both have a good time and you wife a happy birthday from one welsh man to another ,cymru-am-byth or as the greeks yammas .mike

Can be a little quieter than normal, some places not open or just opening, such as water sports on the beach, etc!
Have a great trip and try your birthday meal at the Beachcomber Bistro watching the sun set - Lovely!

Hubby and myself are going back for the 2nd July for 2 weeks and taking the in-laws! Our first visit last year....so we now got the bug.....cant wait to get back in Athens bar ;D. We are just hanging on as the Barras prices are stupid with Thompsons at the moment compared to what we paid last year and if we could we would have prefered to book direct, unfortunately Thompsons have the monopoly of the Barras and wont let George do any direct bookings :(. The discounts on the Thompsons website are a rip off and arnt really discounts at all...not that we are skin flints but I know a con when I see one...they differ daily! So we are watching and waiting ....and waiting....and waiting! 8) Fingers crossed X

christinas appts we have the big one for £700 ,there are 6 off us so (will sleep 7 ) £140 a person
mini bus to and from airport for ten people works out £20 each
chris (26 sleeps till ss )

That works out brilliantly!! Similar to our deal last year - E/Jet was £68 each way approx plus transfer by Noula in a mini bus - - -
5 of us for €90 and the Apartment - - nice deal!!
This year it was difficult so we did Thompsons and Thomas Bay on a good deal.

13 Days & counting, the whole family Pops & gran, offspring & partners & 4 grandchildren. Newcastle-corfu for 14 glorious days & nights at Quietude......or when the kids are in the pool noisytude.
Price there held as what we paid in 2008, though the flights via Essential travel are dearer, flights from the grim north are always dearer.
Transfer mini bus £180 return for all of us seems reasonable also booked cars with Sophia value plus car rental.
WQuery has vat rise made much difference to prices?

Not for this year, as my Son/Daughter-in-law are about to have a new Daughter born in next 2 weeks!,
but I will check out for next year or the following when we can go again as a big family, makes sense to book that way!
I first saw the Villa Quietude in 1983, on our first visit, the villa was superb then
and we were invited to have a walk round and a drink one afternoon when we were walking out around the original harbour.
