Title: Are you bored with SanStef yet????
Post by: 2sanstef on June 09, 2009, 02:06:19 AM
Don't you all get bored going back to the same place year after year? What does San Stef offer to you all, haven't you done it all now, is it really that good?

Since our last visit to San Stef  (sept '08) we have been to Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura & Tenerife. This is not unusual for us by any means! Just can't put our collective finger on what draws us back to San Stef year after year after year........... BUT............. We had a 2 week hol through Thomson from 26 June and then the Credit Crunch struck.......... Being brave and loving San Stef we decided we can spend more time there!! Tonight we booked accommodation for a week from 10 July and one way flight to UK with Queasyjet!!!

"Oranges aren't the only fruit" but ,remember, some of these good folk are lucky enough to take several holidays a year but San Stef seems to be their banker...as someone once sang "Nice work if you can get it" ;)

When asked on Official Forms for job title I put "HOLIDAYMAKER" well,  it is my major leisure activity. Some folk love their cars.......... No interest....... No vices, neither smoke nor drink... What else is left!

Just never seem to get bored with San Stefanos. It's great coming back every year as we also meet up with friends we have made down the years as well. We like knowing that what we are coming to is what we want from our annual holiday - sunshine, warmth and friendliness. Safety is also a big factor after you see what some places are like on the tv.  :) :) :) 8) 8) 8)
I also note that you are a frequent visitor  -so what does it do for you ????????????

This is becoming quite a circular discussion ;D...not everywhere is Miami Vice, there are still lots of equally great places about, why not try them? "A change is as good as a rest, you know" 20 years from now you wont regret what youve done but what you havent,go on, you know it makes sense :) ;) ;D

we're not saying ss suits everybody but for those that it does, it has a sirens call, you can't put your finger on it but there is something, best not to look to hard just enjoy it for what it is ;D

Well that's what I intend to do :), but I doubt if I'll go back more than once - variety is the spice of life and it's brief so , as I've no chance of seeing all those places that Don has, I'll try and see places I fancy within my limitations, with just one opportunity pa and a limited budget, that cant be open ended, I have no choice :) I dont want to end up like Annette in work , quiet mousey type, goes to the same resort, same hotel , same room same time of year , year in year out,and never ventures out anywhere...result? no one asks about her holiday because they know, but some people are like that [ I'm not knocking them because my youngest is very similar]they feel comfortable with the familiar, we're all different.

In reply to the subject, No we are not bored with San Stef, going for the third time this year.

Allways said we would never go to the same place twice, we did that when the kids were young (St Ives Cornwall) France (Caravaning) Mablethorpe & Skeggy etc. and had some memorable holidays.

Since they grew up and stopped going on hols with "Mum & Dad" we have been to many places but prefer the laid back feeling of the Greek Islands. Corfu being our first "on our own"  holiday, stayed in Dassia that was 15 yrs ago.

We landed in San Stef by de-fault the first time as there was a problem with the hotel we had booked on the NE side of the island.

Got transfered to the Athena for our 2 wk stay and fell in love with the village, you were made to feel so welcome it feels like home from home.

What more could you ask for  8) 8) 8)

I don't think you can beat the place - why I have been returning there since 1983!! My Kids grew up going there and love the place,
and now the third generation is going this year as well!!
It does feel a bit like a welcome home - but so different from the uK

Can't explain the magic, but then that is probably the essence of magic! It is just amazing and inexplicable. I have been to lots of other places, even tried Kos for main holiday two years ago. It just wasn't San Stef. from the moment we arrived we knew that although it was a lovely place.... it wasn't San Stef!

It's a tempting thought - to live there, right now - although we love the place so much, it's nice to have the best of both worlds.
That way - we appreciate it even more on arrival, but of course - - if Mr. Lotto helps out!! who knows!! LOL

Will never be bored with San Stef. The only boring bit of the resort are the people who cannot accept criticism of their favourite accommodation or taverna. Just because they like it doesn't mean they are right but at the same time doesn't mean those whose opinions differ are wrong.

We always said that we would never go back to the same place until we found San Stefanos, we have been going for the last 10 years. Why is that?. Some one asked us how did you find this place. Someone either tells you about it or you find it by accident, It is a bit ike the film Brigadoon. We found it and we keep going back.. We are fortunate that we can go on two or three holidays a year but San Stef is our main hoiday, Some eople might think we are boring , you no what. I dont Care

Hi Sandra
I will go halfway to agreeing with you. Consructive criticicism is fine.Even though I am on record as saying I will only criticise when asked and then only by PM.My problem is with what I call malicious criticism which has no place in this or any other forum. To say I find these people boring is an understatement.

I live in Corfu have a car so can go where I choose from day to day, but I love San Stef, its a wonderful mix of everything you could dream of.  Excellent beach, good mix of restaurants,. tavernas and bars and fab people who always make you welcome. We go abroad from here every year and always long to come home to Corfu........

Well it's true Yannis - it's well published that S S is a chill-out village - great for couples and families, if you want crazy times go to Kavos!
I never get bored and I believe it's what you make of your holiday and the place you are in.
I always have long chats and fun with the Local people, and meet lots of old friends there each time.
Good conversation, a nice beer or glass of wine, wonderful beach, people watching, socialising, entertainment, great food and that feel-good factor!
What else do you want? - suits me sir!!

I agree Tony, everything seems so relaxed in SS, you cannot help but chill out.
Last time we were in SS, I was that relaxed that I fell asleep in bar 38 at 2 oclock in the afternoon and I had only had one small glass of wine. I also fell asleep every morning on the beach sunloungers something that I have never done before.

I agree with you all it,s the most relaxing place we have ever been to and we have been going abroad for many years,we fell in love with it the first time we went and cannot think of anywhere nicer to go,just wish we could go more than once a year but finances since i had to retire will not allow also my husbands employer very strict about taking time off. Can,t wait for the 20th Aug.  ;) ;)
