Your Pet "Hates" in San Stefanos! - There surely can't be many in this Paradise on Earth!!
My pet hate - to start off on a controversial note - -
is People who Smoke on a Restaurant table when others around are still eating.
The continentals & eastern europeans, are the worst for this, having finished eating their own meals,
they then light up and allow their smoke to waft on to me!
I remember a table of women (who by the way - are much worse than the men!!), who chain-smoked,
(the resulting fumes gathering like a factory chimney), and were blown by the wind over my table.
All this while I was tring to eat a sizzling steak in the Little Prince, gasping for breath in between eating.
So if that was you and you read this, it was rude - please consider the other tables in future!!
There - thats now off my chest!!

People who moan about food.E.G that greek meal we had last night was awful, but hey arent you in GREECE. They took ages to serve us wot with the dancing and everything.The best one i heard was "The foods not like this in Spain".well ......

My one hate last year was the Mind/Horoscope reading machine on the main street. Not only did it give me the spooks it was so out of place in San Stef.

Pet hate would have to be the people who insist you share every bit of their life whether you want to or not. At 3 in the morning after clunking about in heels its the good night serenade. Sometimes half a dozen folk each in turn shouting to the others = 36 goodnights. Then they turn into the formation door slamming team and ablutions over decide now is the time to push the beds together. Yes, I really "love" thoughtless selfish people!

Couldn't agree more with all the comments so far - although I did try the horoscope thingy for a laugh lol !!!!!!!!!!!
My pet hate is the people wjho moan about SS saying things like "I don't like here - its to quiet" Hey did you not do your homework and realise SS is not Blackpool with sunlol!!! :) >:(

I reckon you must be right - I wonder if the local boys are selling seaweed to smoke as spliffy's!! LOL

I love greek food, (LiloLil), some come and complain - where's MacDonalds!! Do that at home!!
Don - well put - I can see them now - so irritating at night!!

One year we had a woman moaning all the time "its to hot". For goodness sake its supposed to be its Corfu. ::)

I guess that Don's reply #4 would match my biggest hate. Heels and scraping chairs/beds around on hard Greek floors means the entire block gets serenaded.

Retsina, the greek Marmite i suppose in that you either love or loath it, personally i love it especialy Malamatina which does not have an overpowering taste of resin like Kourtaki, and is the perfect drink to have with local food like the small black olives that you only find on Corfu.

the flower ladies and the guys who sell lighters, torches etc....even though there is no pressure to buy and they always move on politely if you don't, i just feel so bad about not buying and always come home with half a suitcase full of the things and the apartment has a selection of roses in various stages of decay !!!! also agree with those who have mentioned the fortune telling thingy...

I have no pet "hates" with SS. No point in just looking for things to complain about for the sake of it - we can manage that without going on holiday! Let's talk about what we really love about SS i.e. the things that make us go back every year. This is much more of a positive note to get us all in the mood for the summer.

Hi Montagum, good point, but it's not really complaining is it?
As nothing in life is perfect, even on the best holidays you get the ''niggle'' over something big or small,
so this in a way is a positive thing, it's a chuckle at the silliness of some of the things we see, hear or experience,
and some of the above really made me laugh, especially Don's earlier one, as we have all had that sometime.
The previous one about the lighters scam, made me smile, it's part of the holiday and it helps to bring the memories back!
None of us would keep returning if we didn't all love the place anyway.
Also in a forum, you have to have a bit of balance, posi & negi!!
But I have heard nothing that really negative or would put anyone off - have you?
I know I am looking forward to our holiday in July, this year & can tell you are too - when are you going?

have to admit I'm a soft touch for the deaf and dumb guys who sell the lighters and torches etc, but I never buy from the flower ladies

i have never yet seen anybody selling said lighters etc or any flower ladies !!!!!
Only saw one guy that seemed to walk the beach and all the hotels trying to sell sunglasses and DVD's, though i didn't see him sell any !!!!
Maybe these people only come out in the height of the season. I am usually there at beginning and end of season.
I have no pet hates, i just love everything about it !!!!! :D

We to have seen the "deaf and dumb" man with his various lighters and also the gypsy type woman with the flowers. She seems to get chauffeured about. Have also seen small children with the flowers as well.

The only person we have seen is of African origin and he tends to go round the hotels and apartments

The chappie that sells the DVD's pops into Glenns for a drink most days as he comes off the beach.

Has anyone had the "Balloon Seller"? Gazillions of Helium filled Balloons of all shapes and sizes, He's usually accompanied by a small child, (sympathy Angle) don't be sucked in!!

The African guy "my name is John", is a regular for some years now - usually two to three times a week on beach and bars.
Years ago - an old trad/dressed woman sold lace on the beach -
I think that the local beach front establishments
(and Capt. Nikos - etc.), frown upon certain types of refreshment sellers as it can impact.
They tend to get the message across as well!!

We've also seen a woman and child selling the glow in the dark type bracelets and necklets . Not sure if its the flower seller perhaps alternating . ;)
