The Magnet was renamed Simple
(Hopefully not after the owner Stefanos who now rents it out and works as a waiter in the Thomas Bay now),
It was being run by a friend of Dimitri, (Nondas's son - Elphita Bistro),
It definitely was the Main Attraction in San Stefano's, as named by the bar's only 3 customers!!

Ok - well it was RI - Unfortunately I have one of the "milestone Birthdays" coming up late April,
so the Bus pass is getting closer, luckily I have one of those special mirrors that tell me I am still only a young stud.
(hang-on - I have to pick linda up - she collapsed with laughter!!), but I always ducked out of RI class before "Laurel" came up.

Are you talking about the Church? - or the little memorial up on the top - I was here (SS) the year it was errected after the Priest fell over the cliff and survived.
or could it be:
A Laurel (LDS Church), a 16–18 year-old participant in the Young Women's program of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
according to wickipedia!!

OK - Ford make the Ford ?? (usually regarded as a womans car -looks like a handbag with wheels - yes still a new model - does Katie drive one?),
and then think about the Mini - what can you come up with?
Really easy - if you know your bars!!!!

Kamini????????????????????
Well Done Jules - The G&T will be waiting for you!!

Sue - you need to get out more - or watch Top Gear
(actually I am led to believe you only ever wear "Top Gear" - according to Don - Faux-Leopardskin I believe).

Here are the the clues - - - - - - -
Ford make the Ford  KA  add it to the Mini    KAmini  or Karmini Bar Run by Michaelis who is married to Katie

Katie was the Rep for Greek Connection Holidays, she looked after us in 1983 the first year we stayed in San Stefanos.
Well worked out Jules!!
No sign of Don here I see - you girls must have exhausted him!!!!

Another one for you - - A place to go in San Stefanos - - we are going back a bit now!!
Clue;
It is now closed but in full view -
it was used by the Nazi's in WW2 to keep their secrets safe?

Now I am sure you three musketeers are all old enough to have either fought in WW2
or at least seen a film about a U-Boat a few+ years back that featured this in the main story line.

Ok this will give it away - you can see it from the Olive press and it's also the name of a machine the Germans used during the war to encode & decode - it was the central part of the plot in a war film about a German Uboat (submarine).

But this is also the name of a once popular evening venue, going back quite a few years.
If you noticed the very visible sign - you would think -
Hmmmmmm! what is that place - bet Don is doing the Boogie-Woogie woo in there!!
So what is this place?????????

There is another story about sheep and yellow dye  but not too sure if that is true.

New Quiz then:
A place to stay - -  a bar and more  - - - that people love, but it's called "love's a bitch" when translated into Spanish!!
Clues
Now when say it in Spanish.  - - -  you have the name of this place - - - and also of a Spanish / Mexican film made in 2000.
It is an anthology film containing three distinct stories which are connected by a car accident in Mexico City.
Each of the three tales is also a reflection on the cruelty of humans toward animals and each other,
showing how they may live dark or even hideous lives.
This film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2000 and won the Ariel Award for Best Picture from the Mexican Academy of Film.

The film was released under its Spanish title in the English-speaking world although it was sometimes translated as Love's a Bitch in marketing.

Ok - The old building this Bar was in was re-built a few years ago, the Bar is no longer there.
It now has an alternative use and looks pretty modern now the extended buildings have been errected.

I always remembered how I liked the 3 Greek dancers and took a picture of it - you can no longer see this!!
However it is captured on my phone as my screensaver.
The Cocktails were great and we often stopped ther on the way back from the Beach for a cold beer (Draught Amstel).

Situated in the "Older" area of San Stefanos - - - need more clues???

Remember - big connection with 3 Greek dancers
 Big connection with Cocktails

You must get it now!!

Ok - the 3 greek dancers were on a mural or painting (Very large one), one the wall. (That will give it away for a lot of folk).
I am sure that this place was still open 6 years ago, not far from the beach, a good place to stop when walking back to the Apt.
In the quieter part of San Stef.
It is named after it's owner's wife and also a cocktail - now think about it - it is easy.
If you dont' get it I will give you a very big clue
Now who lives in a house (shop) like this????????

PS - Sue - I am going to puncture your boots!! and Don (old chap) your'e shouting b'coz you are the deaf one!!

Sue - -  - Well done!!! - good guess.

MARGARITTAS - It used to be attached to the Mini-Market.
The bar was a good place to quench your thirst on the way 'home'.
It had a good resturaunt similar to 2 Star, the Painting was a 6 foot high, Cartoon like Picture of 3 Greek dancers, on the wall.

Years ago - it was run by Noula, but named after Mum.

A few years back, the family re-constructed the buildings on the land, to ensure that Paula (Gift shop) & Marilyn (Mini-Market with Mum), each has a seperate business, Noula has the Travel business, so a good future. The parents have the Apartments.

In the eighties and nineties - they used to run Greek Nights, & often specialised in Lobster Meals - it was a great evening out.
We thought it was a shame when they closed the Cafe' bar, but I expect competition was hotting up then and it has to be worthwhile for the effort.
Did you ever try this place????

Its funny how places come and go and some are soon forgotten until we get a little reminder like in this quiz. Thats what makes this site so good. :)

I agree - this quiz made me think back and remember the very first year we went, we had a tight budget and no holiday booked.
We saw a Sunday Mail advert for a last min-booking, (el-cheapo), we arrived (just us two - kids left with mum), on a Greek Connection holiday, (it went Bust a few years later), Katie was the tour rep (Michaelis's wife - Karmini bar).
It was 1983, it was 05:00 in the morning off a night flight, there seemed to be nothing there.

(We had done Majorca the year before), I remember saying - "this is a mistake - this is going to be our worst ever holiday", We then found out it was the best place we had ever been to, and in those days there was just the Golden Beach Htl, Nafsika Htl, Manthos Taverna, Sunset Taverna, Barras (different name) and the Mini Market - with the attached Margarittas Cafe' bar.
That was it apart from an old VW Camper Van on the Beach called the Kantina for snacks and Water Sports, including Windsurfing, where a very young boy (pre-teen), made everyone look silly with his expertise - that was Leon & Capt. Nikos ran it all.
No Beach beds then either!!  We went to the Mini Market "Greek-Night" and Vasillias Spit roast a whole lamb over an open fire.
He put slits in it and inserted whole cloves of garlic. It was and still is the best Lamb we have ever had.
The Greek dancers that night were just the locals, with Capt. Nikos and his brother Spiros as the main attractions, and they were still the best we ever saw dance on Corfu, Nikos did Zorba's Dance and he was great at it.
Funny how such an impromptu night like that can burn such great memories, and make a lasting impact - we couldn't wait to get back the next year and we brought the kids as well - and we have all been going back ever since and seen it grow into what it is today.
San Stefanos attracts a certain kind of people and I guess we are those people - the idiots seem to steer clear thankfully!!!

No lager louts or idiots is great and really helps to keep SS a safe and special place.
