Never exchange cash in the village. We always take our Euros with us - buy them on line and use our Nationwide flex plus debit card to withdraw extra if needed - no charges. Plus ALWAYS ALWAYS decline the ATM offer to convert. The exchange rate is already bad don't give up anymore of your hard earned cash.

Benson, what you are saying is correct. However, Paul may have a valid reason for his request - for example, his wages might be going into his bank a/c halfway through his holiday.

Has been about 1.10. Think it's pretty much on par with rates in England.

It was 1.10 until we left yesterday. Even TravelFX is only 1.1136 today. It's probably not going to get much better.

Don't think it will Jim. Always a pleasure to see you and lovely Gillie. We had a great holiday, hope you both did too! :) xx

Just use an overseas no commission credit card, as Jim and I do, this week I got 1.138, obviously no commission or charges, the best rate possible,

You were lucky. Base rate is currently 1.115 and TravelFX at a disastrous 1.099

Isn't it great that the EU has now banned credit card surplus charges from next year?
