Title: 18 nights of eating loads and loads and loads.
Post by: don on July 12, 2008, 07:09:36 PM
Just returned this morning from an 18 night stay in San Stefanos. In all honesty we did not have one bad meal.
Starting off from the first night we ate out at
Little Prince (traditional start to our hols)
Thomas Bay (wedding reception)
Sunset
Barras
Little Prince
Perros (barbecue... strongly recommend this)
Manthos
Mistral (whopping portions)
Little Prince
Ozzy Oils
Waves
Orchard (Peroulades.. a change and a great place to eat).
Olympic
Beachcomber (suggest pre-booking)
Little Prince
Olive Press
Paradise
Little Prince
Manthos
19 nights - 15 different tavernas ... and the ones we missed out!!!
For a change we drank wine with our meals, no selection - just a litre carafe of the housed dry white. What an experience... probably the best and definitely the cheapest was that at Paradise. The wines went from wow to yeuk......... try it . It is an experience, just rememember to pack the Rennies.
Warning ............... the Peleponese Chardonnay from a local supermarket must be an acquirered taste. We asked all round but couldn't acquire a taste anywhere!

Don do you need to book Yannis for the Saturday Lamb on the spit?

As I have said we wont be in 'Town' until about 10.30pm on Friday so would Saturday morning be too late to book?

Cant wait!!!!!!

We walked past on 2 saturdays. The first we had been to the Perros Hotel barbecue with"Snappy cathy" and when we walked along to the village at about 11.00pm it was still packed. The second saturday we forgot to book and at 9.30 there wasn't a seat to be had. We have just got to eat there in august.

Don I think we are taking a 'rain check' on Yannis the first Saturday, as our flights times have been put back a bit so I think our first 24hours will be laid back and let the tavernas wash over us - so to speak- See you on Tuesday though.

This last time was:-

THE LITTLE PRINCE
 YANNIS
WAVES
BEACHCOMBER
OZZY OILS
OLYMPIA
THE LITTLE PRINCE

Thus proving 7 nights is not enough. The choice of where to eat gets harder and harder each visit. The Little prince has to be our first and last meal.  No choice, this is set in stone.
Ozzy Oils & Beachcomber have to become regular eateries as their menus are so far from regular.
Olympia too has to become a must go as Stelios lets us make our own menu.

Thinking of this makes us wish we were there right now. I think a near 3 week stay spoiled it for us as we tried so many different places all of which were unique in the pleasures they gave us and enjoyable if more than the food provided for us.

As you can see we have eaten in a lot of places! Where would you suggest we try this year as we are always up for new culinary experiences?

Once the first visitors have been I am sure you will hear about any new ones as well Don. There will be at least a couple of new places possibly to try.

If it is the place opposite there was always lots of smoke coming out of there.

I'm sure I would be a good customer at lunchtime but after a good meal, a carafe of wine wahed down by a few R'n'C's or beers I don't want to eat late at night.

Well - on the odd occasion after an earlier meal and a few drinks - it went down well!!
