Hi Louise .  Last year there were 2 ,  thomas bay and outside san stef travel, I belive the one at thomas bay has gone, we took cash passport last year and worked great for us , there is or was a atm in avliotes or 3 or 4 in sidari, always rent a scooter so no major problem , would say nearly everywhere accepted it , always was cash in eitheratm in san stef .  Happy holidays , and remember if you got no cash you can always pay tomorrow,, its the  greek way !!!

Lesley has told us that there is ONE ATM in the village, next to Margarita's supermarket - none in Avliotes - none in Arillas. Otherwise it's Sidari! Take some cash.

Not much traffic noise Rilo. You do get the odd loud moped/motorbike going past but it certainly isn't distracting.

Doesn't bother you during the day but you can get woken up on a night a couple of times. Last night one went past and it sounded like a rocket!! About 1am. ..... I'd just dropped off!!

There may be cash machines to use , but will there be any cash to dispense ?  The way the Greeks are withdrawing their cash from the banks is frightening.  Something has to give soon. I think we should take cash with us.

Withdrawals were 3 billion between Monday and Thursday alone, and the banks have asked the ECB for more liquidity assistance. One commentator said that if they didn't get it the banks might close on Monday.

I've been saying "take cash" for months, and frequently accused of "scaremongering." Now that the Greek crisis is high on the news agenda every day maybe people will recognise that there could be problems and inconvenience for a while.

Unfortunately, the situation is causing significant damage to Greek tourism. AgStef has a large loyal cohort of people who go back, but I know from contacts in the village that bookings are lower than hoped. If there is a banking melt-down, our Euros in hand will be be extremely welcome.

We only ever take cash anyway and if things o go into meltdown I can see it going even further and making our holidays even better value.

European Central Bank helped the Greek banks out, so no worries at the moment.

All 3 cash machines working fine. The currency is Euros, do not take Sterling.

Cash , Euros , are the best option are I see things,  Only hope people are not targeted because they are travelling with large amounts of cash . 4 billion Euros withdrawn last week , that's a serious amount of money under Greek beds.

60 Euro per day max from ATMs from today for the next week ,  I suppose the next move depends on the referendum result.

please note that all Debit and credit cards of foreign banks can be used as normal, as long as they have been issued abroad. Debit and credit cards of foreign banks issued in Greece come under the same rule as those of Greek banks.

I'm taking cash, as a last resort I may (towards) the end of the holiday pay a tab or 2 with my debit card but i will not be relying on the ATM's.

All foreighn credit card holders, are allowed to withdraw the maximum limit set by their banks and you can also use your credit card to pay for any service!

Why would anyone use the overseas ATM's and pay the high commission fees charged by the majority of our banks? Bring euros from UK and use specialist credit cards where possible.

Yes until the ATM's run out of money. And I'm sure the locals would prefer cash than a card payment at this time.

Just got home.

Several places quietly requested that I pay in cash rather than plastic. Whilst banking restrictions remain in place almost everywhere needs to pay suppliers in cash. The ATMs have continued to have cash in Agios Stefanos during our two weeks.

Greece last night more or less gave in to the Creditors, so an agreement this weekend seems more probable, if Germany will allow it. There is some anger in the village; this deal could have been made 5 months ago, saving much suffering and economic damage. Several told me the referendum was a farce, since the government is about to accept the very deal the referendum said "Oxi" to.

Do not take GB pounds, take euros, purchased online in the UK. If you take GB pounds you will lose out big time.
