Title: Summer Dreams.
Post by: WINKIE on February 10, 2014, 11:17:46 PM
Love this place, but feel it never gets the custom it deserves, always quiet.Beautiful comfy seats, great service, and some nice chill music. What more could one ask for,has anyone else found it like this?.Do you frequent it often,or just pass on by.We will be there for sure in June, one of our favourite people watching spots too.

They 'lost' the English Football back last August - something about the owner not wanting to pay for it.

I'm sure the world cup will be on in June - even if its greek commentary!

Other than that yes its a nice well appointed friendly bar but because it lacks custom I think it lacks a bit of atmosphere.

Couldn't agree more WINKIE  We had many lovely evenings there last year, it was a bit quiet but that was a great attraction for us
As we were staying at Tsaros Appts we thought we were well placed to enjoy a meal at our favourite , Olympia then a drink or three at  Summer Dreams and then a gentle stroll up Cardiac Hill !

In all my visits to the village I've never been in there! I'll cure that this year though and make sure I have at least one beer in there.

One beer Cambridge !,LOL, is it possible to go into a taverna in San Stef, and have only the one.I try to,but the magic that each and everyone I enter has, casts its spell on me,I feel as if by some strange force,I must have another one.......or two.......or three  8)

Yes but I have self control. I can go into Tasty Corner and not have the third gyros!

We enjoyed a few at Summer dreams last year - also breakfast and lunch - all up to the usual San Stefanos Standards...

Has anyone tried Summer Dreams this year?
As previous posts have said it hardly gets a mention.
We were recommended it at the end of our holiday, last year, by a couple who had been going to San Stef for years. They said it was the first time they had ever been in and it was really good.

I don't know why Summer Dreams doesn't get mentioned very often. We've been many times, and it's always good.
Mediterranean Village doesn't get mentioned much either and Sofie's cooking is a little bit special.

We went several times in July this year. It's a lovely spot and the service is very friendly. We only had lunch on a couple of occasions but had drinks about 3 times. We were always amazed it was so quiet. Deserves more custom! :)

We are guilty of walking by it on our way to and from the Nafsika for our evening meal.  It certainly looks a nice place though.

We love Summer Dream for our pre-lunch Mythos. Great service, very attentive staff.
Sardines at lunchtime are actually better than those from Waves! Special omelette also good!
Never had an evening meal there, but we did pop in for drinks one night. When we ordered two cokes, the barman asked " What's wrong?". Not that we're heavy drinkers!!😀
Great atmosphere!

Had a nice meal in Summer Dreams last Thursday, with friends who were visiting. Good food, and attentive, friendly service. We went for their Greek night for my friends, and it was great fun, the dancers were good, and got everyone involved. If thats not for you, its got lovely gardens to sit in and enjoy a meal or drink.

I'd second the recommendation for the sardines at Summer Dreams - though I can't compare them to those at Waves.  They also did a very good pizza for us and a large, well flavoured greek salad.  Now there's a question - best greek salad in the village...?

Whereabouts is Summer Dreams?  I must have seen it during my visits to San Stef but can't tell from the pics on Trip Advisor - is it the place opposite the little juice bar on the corner near San Stef travel?

Yes it is opposite the juice bar

Dont think I had read this thread but have to admit it was one of the best meals of our Holiday and we nearly skipped it as it was so quiet.

Each to their own and I know you can only speak as you find, but sadly, contrary to everybody else's experience, our visit was one we will never repeat.
Went for early evening 7.30pm ish pre dinner cocktails.
Service by the waiter was fine, but the women behind the bar were very miserable and that's being charitable!
Ordered two Mojitos which came with 3 bits of lime, a sprig of mint and what tasted like tap water. No fizz, no tasteable rum...v v poor. Queried it with the waiter who tasted it for himself. Up went his eyebrows and off he went to the bar and spoke to miserable lady no. 1. She shrugged and insisted we pay the full cost of both drinks which were left full on the table........€12.
In 7 visits (11 weeks) it is the only experience which has left a bitter taste in my mouth. Would we set foot in the place again?.... Not on your nelly!😪😪

It's variable. I had good lamb chops there. Gillie had burnt stuffed peppers twice and probably won't go back.

Intended calling in there this year for a beer at least, and then never did. Can't put my finger on it, but it just never appeals for some reason. And then once I'm back, I regret not calling in, stupid isn't it.

We had a good few drinks in there a fortnight ago, very pleasant bar staff, and a good atmosphere. There were about five couples having meals at that time, and appeared to be enjoying themselves. The tables are beautifully laid out, with warm coloured table covers, and sparkling clean cutlery. If I had one minor complaint,it would be the music that is played there,is a bit poppish,I reckon some background instrumental music would help create a much better ambiance. Will deffo be back again in June 15.

we stay at Margaritas so if staying in the old part of town of an evening we will have a pre-meal drink in Summer Dreams. Lovely comfy sofas and can watch the world go by (never eaten there though).

Never eaten there but had a few pre dinner drinks there this year and found it to be very relaxing and the staff were always great with us.

Yes one of those places that appeals before but never get to visit when you are there. This year I think the prospect of all that flora and fauna put us off as we walked into town due to the prospect of collecting more mosquito bites to the 60odd we had between us by the end of the two weeks!!
Title: Re: Summer Dreams.

We were in Summer Dream on a daily basis both holidays this year. No mosquito bites at all!

Yes,not opening this summer, they’re developing the site next year into a couple of villas, as far as I know.

It's always been very quiet, really. Very nice people. We've had good and bad meals there. It was indeed a pizza place last year, but in the unlikely event I wanted a pizza I'd probably go to Town Pizza.

Lovely garden. Somehow it didn't "click" with people.

Ahhhh I thought you meant the other one at the bottom of Romanza Hill

Yes we went in last year for pizza. It was pretty disastrous to be honest

There were about 5 different groups in ranging from couples to a group of 10.

It took ages for them to take the drink order then whilst our pizza came in around half an hour there were people in before us who didn't get their food for a long time after us.

One bloke went to the bar, chucked €20 at them and walked out with his wife.

Meanwhile the big group had received some of their food but half their group were still waiting 20 mins later

Not a great experience

Gavlah, I think the one you were thinking of (at the bottom of the hill) was called Sunset Taverna. We had a very nice meal there a few years back, but on our next visit we noticed it had closed down. I think the location was just wrong.

Yes Sunset went a few years ago.
Summer Dreams was closed and dead this year.
