Title: Beers.
Post by: WINKIE on April 15, 2013, 11:30:21 PM
Been a long time since we last had a holiday in Greece.I have fond memories, although a little hazy at times lol, of enjoying a glass or four of Mythos beer.Is this the frontrunner in San Steffanos beerwise. Are there any Brit beers,Tennents,Carling etc?.Tongue hanging out whilst typing lol.

Plenty of Mythos, Winkie.

Also excellent beer from the local brewery. San Stefano Travel do a trip to the brewery including samples:

Nicest sight of the day is strolling up from the sun-bed to Havana or Mango and seeing that frosted glass and dewy Mythos bottle.

and sit with your legs up on the verandah and gaze and watch the sun glisten and shimmer on the sea - taking sips of wonderful, ice cold Mythos.  Bliss

Mythos is the best one there - a couple of places also do draught as well.

I gather from the above post, that not all bars have beer on draught ?. I prefer draught beer to canned or bottled,Which bars have the wonderful Mythos on tap please?.

I'm the same as you Winkie, I much prefer a draught mythos. From memory the places that had draught last year were:-

Condor
Little Princess Bar
Romanza Hotel
Tsaros
Waves Taverna
Nafsika
Zorbas
Mango (iced glasses)

There will be plenty of others that I'm forgetting, feel free to add to the list. :)

Bottles and canned beer tend to induce headaches next morning  :).

I find that too - and have a theory that the more I drink the bigger the headache!!!! lol  !!!!!

Canned beer also tastes metallic, and that ruins the beer, and the same goes for here too.

Most locals drink the bottled stuff, and I may be wrong, but I also seem to recall it's slightly stronger than the draught equivalent, although I much prefer the draught.
Keep an eye out for the Ionian beers.

I would agree that bottled is stronger than draught. It certainly tastes stronger and that's why I prefer the draught. Premium 5%+ beers all taste too strong to me.

Bottled all the way for me, Peroni in Italy and the UK, Mythos in AS Currently in India and its Kingfisher.

I must admit, we'd rather have bottled Mythos, and always have it if possible.

Having thought some more about this benson, could let us know where you drink your Mythos?

In the cat litter, by the sound of it.

I've never seen the point of drinking from a bottle when clean glasses are available, or am I old fashioned ?

Well said Tenbeech. perhaps the bottle tastes better than the lager inside it!!! ;D

Could there be anything better than an ice cold mythos drank from a freezer cold glass, sitting on a hot beach watching the sun caress a turquoise sea?

Yes, there could Debra, but I understand what you mean!

Beer/lager from a tin! Yuk. Horrible stuff and shouldn't be allowed.

Draught or from a bottle (cat's piss accepted) is always best.

The cats piss comment reminds me of a golfer who before putting used to pick up his ball and lick it. Because of the pesticides used to keep the green he caught (not the right word I'm sure) cancer of the tongue. You just never know.
