Title: Chinese or Greek ?
Post by: rilo57 on June 13, 2012, 10:39:42 PM
Has anybody tried the chinese yet?  I love a good chinese meal, but when in ss its has to be the traditional cooking for me.

Really can't envisage eating Chinese in SS! Too many wonderful places to eat Greek food. But each to their own.  :)

Personally speaking I can't imagine eating anything other than the wonderful Greek food on offer in all of the tavernas.

I must say that after a couple of weeks in Greece I really start yearning for a curry. There's room for choice, surely? Like the Greek Pie and Mash at Tasty Corner, or the Greek pizzas, or the Greek crepes, or the Greek English breakfast, or the Greek Caesar salad at Havana Bar, or the famous Greek club sandwich!

I'll be there for sweet and sour souvlaki and taramasalata spring rolls. :-)

Is it being run by the three probably Chinese people who rub oil all over naked people on the beach? I suppose it's something to do whilst waiting for the main course.

Myself I prefer to eat locally. I can get chinese at home but there are no Greek restaurants near me. Does anyone remember the chinese that used to be on the beach road next or near to the supermarket?

maybe I'm mistaken. When we first went to ss 10 or 12 years ago there appeared to be what looked like an abandoned chinese. I remember red chinese type lanterns etc on tables and at the windows. On the beach road just past the supermarket. If it wasn't or hadn't been a chinese anyone know what it was? It certainly wasn't open then if had been.

The recently opened Chinese is in the old Bar38's previous spot, so almost opposite Thomas Bay, they also do an early doors menu between 6pm - 8pm and having seen their full menu looks very tempting. The chinese is called Lily's.

Well I like Chinese and I love Greek - I also like Indian and Thai and Mexican.

So  - - two weeks of Greek food - - I may well give it a try - - just for a change.

But  - - - I may not as well - - I'll see what I fancy on the day!

OPEN-MIND!!

Agree with both your plan of action and the underlying sentiment Tony.

Point is - isn't nice to have choice - after all - where we live we can source any kind of restaurant and food type.
We often have a Greek night, or one of the many others - but when on Holiday, we usually like the local cuisine.
Trouble is a week and a bit later - I may want a Chinese - or a Town Pizza - or a Bistro meal - or a kangaroo steak - - - - - - etc. etc.

Luckily San Stef has a great choice of meals - - - and we could not get bored with all that choice!

The Chinese looked decidedly empty last week - I think the most people I saw in there was 4 at any one time!

:)yes we tried the chinese, and i can honestly say it was brilliant. At more expensive than at home, but the portions were huge. The chicken and sweetcorn soup was thick with chicken,we also had the bbq ribs,so many, and the sauce was lovely and thick.I would try it and see. There is also a takeway service as well.As we couldnt finish our food,i asked for it to be put in containers so we could have it for lunch the following day.

I think I'd love to try it, as Chinese is a favourite, but convincing my wife is the problem, so maybe second week.
