hi all...just a few short weeks before the annual pilgrimage back 'home'....although this will be our 7th year we'd like some opinions as to the best restaurant in SS for fresh fish....my missus is keen on tasting a few dishes with fish plucked straight from the Ionian.....
cheers !

Mistral is a fish taverna so has a choice there, also many other tavernas have menus with fish depending on the local catch.
Alternatively you could venture down to the harbour and if you are lucky to meet one of the boats coming in with their catch buy from them. There is no set time for the fisherman and there isn't a fish market in the harbour, that's in Corfu Town, but they do sometimes sell from their catch down in the harbour. There is also a van which comes round (again no set time) which sells fresh fish.

I had a beautiful Sea Bream in the Nafsika. Spiros did a great job of filleting it at the table. Will definitely go back there again.
-
I had a fantastic sea bass in the NAFSIKA, cooked to perfection with lemon and butter. Go and try it!
-
Nafsika and Yiannis
-
Is anywhere doing fresh Sardines :)
-
i am sure we had fresh sardines in the Sunset, lovely food in there. Will be in there again when we go in August
-
I think I have seen a sign there now you say it. I think Roy will want to give them a try when we visit
-
We go 26th Aug staying at Little Prince this time, that will be our first meal, Sizzling Steak for me
-
The sunset usually does fresh sardines, also don't forget the Waves Taverna on the beach - the original Fish specialist in Ag.Stef. - always good there as well.
But - - So many venues cook fresh fish beautifully!
-
cheers everyone - as always, SS comes up trumps with a number of options...I'll let the missus decide....

Don't think you can beat the Sardines at Waves over lunch looking out on the hot sand and cooling sea.
If you ask Manthos beforehand to select fish for a specific night he does a brilliant job. Don't choose the Saturday Party Night, however. Good entertainment but always a busy time.

Yes Manthos is another place for good fish, if you want a fish meal with a twist try Beachcomber Bistro,
Fantasea is brilliant as well, Olive Press used to be good (is it open this year??),
Mythica is another good restaurant, Ozzie Oils too, - almost anywhere is good in the resort!
-
tony olive prees was not open at the end of may
-
Will always remember the 'Fish Meze' that I had at the Mistral (few years ago now) but was wonderful - everything was fresh - some different fish which I had never tried before! also tried Pickled octupus - lovely.
-
The Olive Press was still closed when we left at the end of June no one was sure if he was going to open later in the year
-
Olive Press is still closed as of July 19th.
-
Irene's mum did us a fish plate (huge) of various sorts this May on our last night there at the Mistral. Wonderful!!
-
Canary, my son had the tastiest sea bass at Little Prince last Sat. It was delicious. Table booked for Beachcomber tomorrow for more fish.
-
Hi Canary C!When do you go?
-
Nothing like really fresh caught fish!
-
Go to Manthos and ask him to make you his mothers recipe for a family dish of Skate.... it was delicious.... :P
