Title: Greek sim cards
Post by: swedebasher on July 16, 2011, 09:47:28 PM
Has anyone had experience of buying and using a Greek sim card in their unlocked phone to get round the dreadful roaming charges of our UK providers?

No - but Skype is a good way to do it.

It is no longer possible to buy Greek sim cards over the counter as such.  We had to go to Vodafone in Acharavi last year to register my Sim along with my passport and provide a Greek address.  We had to do this last year before end of June or else my number would have been disconnected.  This is for a pay as you go Sim.  Hope this helps

I live here for almost 6 months of the year and I have a TMobile UK pay as you go and you can sign up for European network I found it works out cheaper than a greek sim and all the bother that goes with it, plus you top up on line with your debit/credit card and they give me loads of weekend offers.......and in Uk you dont pay for the Sim which you used to have to do here as long as you put 10 pounds on it when you purchase the free sim card and then let them know you need it for overseas via their text messaging system.......and you get good rates on calls overseas......
