Hi, I really need some help please.
I need to keep in contact with my mum, and i will be taking a pay as you go mobile phone and ringing my mum on her mobile, (both T mobile) but I need to set up both phones and I cannot find any info on what numbers to put in for corfu. ??? Please can anyone help me, I leave in 4 days. Thank you, Paula.

Hi Paula
I used my mobile to ring home, the code is 0044 then leave the 0(zero) off your mums mobile number.
I had no problems connecting and got good reception.
I hope this helps and enjoy your holiday.

Hi Alan,
Thank you so much for your prompt reply, I really appreciate it.
Paula.

Hi again.
I believe to call from the UK the code is 0030 and again leave off the 0(zero) from your phone number.
If you put them in as new contacts and name them as "mum holiday" and "paula holiday" so as not to ring the wrong number.
-
Hi Alan,
Yes that is a great idea, I will set our phones up like that. Thanks again, you have really helped me.
Paula.

Most importantly, before you go, ring T-Mobile, or whoever your network is and set-up / arrange ROAMING.
If not it probably won't work, then put plenty of credit on before you go.
Texting is the cheapest - - go online and check the international charges out.
If you have Skype, (and it's easy to get free wifi). and have a smartphone, an Ipad, netbook, or laptop, put £20 credit on it and phone home really cheaply,
just pennies!!
Skype (from Corfu) to Skype (in UK), calls are free and you can also do video calling!

If your mother has a UK telephone number then the country code is always 0044 then drop the first 0. 0030 is the country code for anyone with a Greek telephone number. Even though you are travelling to Greece, your telephone will always have a UK telephone number therefore will always require the UK country code of 0044 (drop the 0).
Kind regards.
Cerys.

Hi Paula, just back from san steff.dont know where you are staying but we had real problems this holiday with our mobiles, could only get a good signal down by the beach.kept getting albanian providers.never been a problem before.hope its ok for you
-
also just got back rilo57 and had problems with mobiles we also had Albania signal but got better reception on beach.Found the last few days very hot even the locals were suffering .
-
I think all mobiles allow you to manually select the provider, when you have this problem.
I had no problem with mine on auto select and picked up the usual Greek signal there.
-
Hi all,
I have just got back today and yes I had a few problems with my mobile, I too kept getting Albania in the main street and back at the hotel it was fine, but the most important thing was I was able to keep in contact with my mum. :)
-
Hi we stayed at the fedra mare in june and we kept getting the Albanian signal we had to walk up past the Olympia before we could get a greek signal and then no problem this is the first time we have ever had any problems
-
But why does it matter if it's a Greek or Albanian carrier?
I've signed up to Vodafone Euro Traveller. I can recieve calls and texts at no charge. If I make a call, send a text or use data then I'm charged just £3 a day, and then it uses my normal inclusive price plan.
And Albania is included.
-
It all depends on your provider and the deal you have - Albania can be expensive to most providers.
Euro zone countries usually have better deals - you are lucky to have that deal.
-
We were warned last year that Albanian connections can be very expensive.
I just checked Orange - 75p a minute to call UK! 24p on a Greek connection.
