I have already had a reply and have been quoted €280 (£224) for 14 days which is very good :)  This is for the smallest villa just for me :)

I just read a post about the new Chinese restaurant being where Bar38 used to be  ???  Where is it now, as I would love to go and catch up with Hilary and Spiros again and have a drink with them  :) Hopefully I will be in SS next year  :D

Where to stay / Leonidas Villas
« on: November 11, 2012, 03:13:56 PM »
I have stayed here many times with Simone & George and I wasn't sure if they were still trading now Simone is in the UK.  Doing a search I found this website:

http://www.leonidasvillascorfu.com  with a booking diary for 2013!

It looks as though a few changes have been made and I will look into availability and price for my holiday next year.  It is in the right area of SS for me with no slopes or many steps :)

Thank you Lesley, I will certainly look into all those options once I have my accommodation and flight booked :)

I know Noula arranges transfers, but that was the taxi fare I mentioned and that was for 2008.San Stefanos used to be a cheap (but lovely) place to travel to, but I guess it's a sign of the times that all prices have increased, and my buying power has decreased now I'm a pensioner :P

Where to stay / DIY or Thompsons?
« on: November 11, 2012, 12:25:22 AM »
I have done both!  I used Thompsons for my first few visits to SS, but I can't now, as they won't let me!  being a retired ADULT I thought it would be good to go back to the Thomas Bay Hotel, or try the Athina or anywhere else, but....... Thompsons in their 'wisdom'  have decided that single people are not welcome in their establishments.  >:( Even paying a single supplement is not an option.  I think it's the same with the other package companies, nothing seems to be on offer for a lone traveller, and it's for that reason that i love to go to SS 'cos I feel so safe and welcomed by the people I have got to know over the years.

So now, if I want to go back I will have to do DIY.  It's not a problem, but can be so much more costly as just the taxi transfers add an extra £100 + to the cost of the accommodation and flight  :(

I WILL do it, honest  :D

Where to stay / Re: Corfu in October
« on: November 10, 2012, 11:59:44 PM »
For many years I holidayed in SS, having two weeks May/June and a week in October.  I always avoided the half term week for obvious reasons, but even though the weather wasn't always the best it was still warm and just such a lovely break to get ready for the winter ahead.

I just love San Stefanos whatever the weather, it's all down to the wonderful people I meet  :D

I hope to be there next June!  8)

Looking forward to it already, it's so good to see lots of familiar places :)

Hi Jules

I have done that now.  I realise I can send my email address to another member in a PM if required.  This is what I did to Joan, and she has replied now.  I will be getting the contact details I need soon!  :D

Hi Joan

I haven't had a PM from you, if that's how you replied so I guess being a newbie is a disadvantage lol

I'm always here ;)

Nope.

The really fresh fish van does come from the harbour to Nafsika, sometimes as the not-so-fresh-fish van from Corfu Town is delivering to many other places.

Rag and Bone Man is frequently heard on the road to the harbour from Nafsika balconies!

I also remember various other trucks/vans selling clothes, pots & pans, vegetables.  They used all sorts of ways to try and attract attention, it was quite amusing, but I did see locals buying :)

When I lived there, a mobile Bank of Greece used to come once a week and park outside the Nafsika Hotel.  Does this still happen?
