Information and help please / Re: Cash points and cash
« on: August 28, 2012, 06:26:18 PM »
There are now 2 cash machines in San Stefanos and also 1 in Arillas. Don't let the 'rumours' scare you, we are business as usual here in San Stefanos. San Stefano Travel does accept card payments for excursions etc. and most businesses in San Stefanos also accept cards (do bear in mind that a small bank charge will be applied to each transaction). Also, if you are worried about storing valuables such as large amounts of cash etc. then there are safety deposit boxes available for rent in the San Stefano Travel office as well as in many other establishments around the village.
Kind regards,
Cerys.

Great news everyone! A second cash machine has been installed in San Stefanos. It was hoised into place yesterday but will take 10 days or so to become functional. It is located in the quieter end of San Stefanos outside the Crystal Daisy gift shop, inbetween Margaritas Supermarket and San Stefano Travel.

Information and help please / Re: Mobiles

If your mother has a UK telephone number then the country code is always 0044 then drop the first 0. 0030 is the country code for anyone with a Greek telephone number. Even though you are travelling to Greece, your telephone will always have a UK telephone number therefore will always require the UK country code of 0044 (drop the 0).
Kind regards.

Hi eagle eyed Tredegar Boy, yes it is indeed me featured in the article. They caught me as I was rushing through Newport one day and asked for an interview. Of course I obliged! I explained to them that I work on a small Greek island called Corfu and that I would not be watching the Olympics as it takes place in the height of the holiday season. As they didn't mention any of this I wonder what they did mention!!? Thanks for letting me know that I was featured.
Kind regards.

Information and help please / Your feedback required.
« on: April 21, 2012, 01:03:02 PM »
Hi all! The season is fast approaching and we are all getting ready to greet our first arrivals and many more there after. For those of you who visited last year, did you pick up the village summer newspaper? We had such great feedback from our first edition of Sun, Sea & ...San Stef that we decided to go ahead and create one for 2012 also. It includes articles about the local area, culture, places of interest, handy hints and tips and much much more! The paper is almost complete but I was hoping to include some feedback from you about San Stefanos in general i.e the location, the atmosphere, why you love San Stefanos etc. in a section called Kind Words From You. I'm looking for short, sweet reviews to include. If you have any feedback for last years newspaper these comments would also be appreciated. Thank you in advance and as soon as the paper is ready I will post it online. Feel free to post your feedback in this section, I can only choose a few but all comments are welcome!

Out and About / Re: How I found San Stefanos.!!!
« on: February 13, 2012, 02:12:40 PM »
I have to be honest and admit that I didn't find San Stefanos, my parents did! It was our second holiday abroad (the first being a camping holiday in France, oh joy!) and we journeyed through the night to get here. Our coach collected us from the airport and drove us to our allocation on arrival accommodation. My parents exchanged worried looks as my brother and I slept through the winding, cliff top adventure! We arrived and dived straight into bed, no knowing what on earth to expect when we woke up. It was the sound of the lapping waves that woke us a few hours later. My parents opened the curtains and we all looked out from the balcony, completely dumb struck. From that moment we knew we had found our piece of paradise. We made our way down what is now known as cardiac hill from The Romanza and found Leos Pool (now Thomas Bay) and instantly made life long friends. I have so many fond memories from the past 20 years that followed from our first visit when I was only 3 years old!! The fact that I have now chosen to make a life here, as so many others have also done is testament to the warmth and friendliness of the area, as well as its overwhelming beauty. Where else on earth would I want to be!?

Dear Forum Members,
We hope that you have been enjoying the new and improved forum. Some of you have questioned the disappearance of the topic 'Word Association', this topic and some others have been removed as they were not relevant to San Stefanos and provided no information about the area. The aim of this forum is to generate questions and answers to aid members in their search for local knowledge. We have provided many other tools for you to communicate with each other for general chat purposes, such as the chat box in Yiammas Bar where you can log in through facebook and talk with other online forum members. There is also a new tool where you can upload videos direct from youtube. We hope that you appreciate that we have had to remove some not so useful topics etc. in order to replace them with other tools that will improve user quality and also the quality of information shared within the forum.
If anyone has any questions about the new layout and tools within the forum, feel free to contact either Dimitris or Cerys.

We have been thinking ahead for Summer 2012 and of new and exciting ways for you to explore the North West coast of Corfu, and we think weve come up with the perfect combination. How does a walk from San Stefanos to Canal D'Amour via Cape Drastis sound to you? OK? Well what if we add in a boat trip too, sounding better!? This exhillerating route allows you to explore the extroadinary coastline on foot one way, and on your return journey rest your tired legs onboard Nearchos and set sail from Canal D'Amour back to San Stefanos, mirroring your route and enabling you to take in the most famous coastline in Corfu from two perspectives. The natural wonders that are Canal D'Amour and Cape Drastis are so close to San Stefanos, and yet many of you may never have experienced their beauty. San Stefano Travel aims to bring the hidden treasures of the island to light and make them accessable to all so that return visitors have something different to look forward to time after time. Below is the link to our facebook page where you can have a sneak peak at the amazing photos we took from Cape Drastis & Canal D'Amour.
Let us know what you think and if you have a good idea for an excursion, feel free to contact us and we'll see what we can do!

Information and help please / Handy Hints & Tips needed.
« on: November 04, 2011, 03:53:47 PM »
I hope that you will all be glad to hear that next years addition of Sun, Sea & ... San Stef (an information leaflet in the style of a news paper about the resort and surrounding areas) is coming alsong nicely. I am currently collecting 'Handy Hints & Tips' and thought who better to ask that you guys for your helpful holiday hints. I am looking for any general tips that guests will find useful, one example being freezing bottles of water and using them as ice packs in a picnic, then drinking the ice cold water as it melts. If anybody has an example feel free to post them here, or send me a private message.
Kind regards.

Information and help please / Re: Legionnaires disease
« on: October 08, 2011, 02:43:42 PM »
There is no cause for concern and people who are yet to travel to Corfu should not alter their holiday plans. So far there have been only 9 diagnosed cases and it has not been specified where these people visited. As Jules T mentioned, they may have caught the virus in the UK. For those who are concerned or just interested in reading more, here is an article from The Guardian dated the 7th of October.

San Stefanos news and views / Re: What's happened to the webcam??
« on: August 30, 2011, 09:01:23 PM »
Hi guys, for those of you who like to look at the web cam you may have noticed that it hasn't been working for a little while. I just want to reassure you all that we are aware of the issue and hope to have the cam up and running a.s.a.p. but the location of the cam makes it very difficult to carry out maintenance etc. We thank you for your patience and apologise for any inconvenience caused. For those of you with a vivid imagination, I can set the current scene, the sky is a mixture of explosive oranges, reds and pinks, subtly changing to purple as the sun sets over Diaplo Island.
Kind regards.
