Beachcomber and Olympia are my favorites, I use to love the Olive Press but alas it is no more. Roll on summer so we can enjoy the wonderful meals served at some great taverna's. Off to Spain tomorrow for some Winter sunshine, well at least I hope so! :) :)

Such sad news, we had a great time in 2010 chatting to George every night at Tsaros over a drink or two, he had some very interesting tales to tell, at the time he was awaiting the arrival of his mobility scooter. Rest in peace George.xx

We don't really care for football and we don't watch TV when we are on holiday although we would join in and watch if England or Greece were playing but I would not like to have to sit through all the matches that are screened especially at the bar of the apartments that we will be staying at tbh, much prefer listening to music whilst enjoying a night cap or two. However there are enough bars/taverna's for each and everyone of us to do what we enjoy doing whether it be watching football or listening to music!

Ryanair from East Midlands - only flights are Wednesday to Wednesday!

Not a lot of use, most appartments / hotels will only do Mondays, (some exceptions for Fridays)

The only god thing about Wednesday flights (if you can find any accomodation) is that Corfu airport will be relativly quiet!

Jet2, Monarch, Thomson or TommyCook for me.

Or how much time / petrol would it cost to drive to Brindisi and then get the ferry over to Corfu Town - anybody done this lately?

Hi Benson, Flights from Manchester with Ryanair are on a Sunday 6.15am so we have just booked the outbound flight with them and booked inbound flight with T/Cook on a  Monday, we have booked apartments for 15 nights  but did check first if this was possible before we booked our flights so we get an extra night in SS. Total for both flights including with Ryanair 20kg luggage each/plus free 10kg hand luggage each/seat selection and with T/Cook 20kg luggage/free 5kg hand luggage each/ /seat selection/flight meal came to £600.
Quite happy with this because both flight times suit us plus we get an extra night too!

Hi Lilly. We have used Ryan Air over a dozen times and I have never had a flight cancelled. They did change their flight times last year to Corfu but it was a few months before we were flying. Most of the flight we have been on are early morning.
It is only costing us £360 return from Edinburgh for the two of us next year whereas Thomsons flight price is £1050!! These prices for both airlines do not include paying extra for luggage.
They don't do holidays, we book our accommodation  independently.
People moan about Ryan Air but the bottom line is they are cheap, and we have almost always had our flights on time.

Hi Jaxbubbles and thank you very much for the info, it is reassuring to know. How many hours did they change your flight time by? We are also booking independently again. The flight that we are looking at is early morning also which appeals to us. Even with the luggage it still works out a lot cheaper than Thomsons etc plus you get 10kg carry on luggage too.
Why do people moan about them, is there a common theme in the complaints?

Hi all,

Ryanair have today released their flights for 2014 if anyone is thinking of booking with them.
Do they only do flights or holidays too? I only ask because I have read that they quite frequently cancel flights altogether with sometimes giving only 4 hours notice so this really puts me off booking with them and if no alternate flights available then although you do get your money back your holiday would be ruined [We are travelling independently]. I know any airline can cancel flights but the likes of Thomsons/Thomas Cook are also providing package holidays so it would be doubtful that they would cancel  the flight completely.
Any help much apprieciated.

Flight prices seem very cheap but the flight times from Manchester put us off, we wouldn't arrive in resort until turned midnight and flight home not until 2330 hours so willing to pay extra for better flight times, would have been great if flight times were better.

Ah Agios Georgios North then, yes a lovely walk and quite steep in places but like you say well worth the effort. We always enjoy this walk, just so peaceful with beautiful scenery. Roll on next summer and our next visit to Sans Stefanos, going to Spain in January but counting the days to next summer already. :) :)

Excellent review Kernowfox. We also walked over to Ariilas a few times earlier this year for lunch. We also walked to Afonias, Peroulades and Agios Georgios North. Wow did you really walk to St George South or did you mean Agios Georgios North via Arillas, St Georges South seems too far to walk to from Sans Stefanos but if you did manage it how long did it take you?

Lilly

I have never posted on this or any other forum.  As I said in my original post it has never been a problem in the past, only this year.

See my post on the Delfino Blue topic and you will see how much I love Greece and San Stefanos.

Sadly this will be my last post as I dislike the 'gang' mentality I have encountered here.

WinJ, You voiced your opinion on something and in response other people gave their opinion which in the main was different to your opinion this does not mean that there is a gang culture it just means that for most people the subject is not an issue, I think maybe that this came has a surprise to you. If everyone had agreed with you then I am sure that you would have posted again. At least people have been honest in their responses which I think means far more than skirting around something and not saying what they really feel.
Some things in life really don't matter so much in the grand scale of things.

Yammas.

I also find it strange that some people who smoke don't mind the smell on their clothes.  Could it be because they hold their cigs at arms length or over the shoulder, wafting smoke on the people behind.

In your opening post you said that a solution should be found, I take it that you mean the solution that you speak of would be to have separate area's for smokers and non smokers but you must realise that this is not going to happen in Greece and nobody on this forum can find your solution as you put it, to the Greeks there is nothing to solve because they don't see it has a problem.
There is nothing that you can do about it unless you intend to tour the whole of Greece to help them find a solution to a problem that they don't have, good luck with that one!
Have you got any happy memories of your holiday if so would it not be better to concentrate on them rather than becoming obsessed by something that you have no control over? It should just be a mild irritation to you and not something to dwell on. Have you never really posted before on this forum? ;)

Gillywoo

As you say common sense and tolerance should be expected anywhere not just in Greece.  Would you be happy to have your evening meal sitting next to a shirtless smelly person.  I don't think so.

Why not just enjoy your holiday and try not to concentrate on what the person at the next table is doing, sometimes it is very easy to become fixated on something that it almosts becomes an habit and dare I say a talking point instead of enjoying conversation/time with partners/husbands/wives etc. Greece is Greece and we cannot expect them to change, I am sure they have more important things to think about at the moment!
Personally I hate the smell of TCP which some people of a certain age seem to use has Eau de Parfum, in some of the taverna's this year the smell was overpowering but I accept that people have the right to dab it freely, it is their choice which I accept in fact even the smelly shirtless smelly person also has the right to dine where he/she chooses to do so along with the tattooed man, the scowling person who stares at you throughout the meal, those who like to chew with their mouths open displaying the contents of their meal, there are many off putting things when you think about it but for me personally I try not to think about it as I am having so much fun.
