Title: New rules
Post by: Jules on March 06, 2022, 12:48:05 PM
#BreakingNews
#Greece to end requirement for #PLF for travellers from March 15th.
.
Greece yet again leads the way for the tourism industry and local economy
.
“Following the recommendation of the Health Ministry’s committee of experts, the completion of the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) by visitors from all countries for entry into Greece is being abolished as of March 15, 2022. This simplifies entry procedures for travellers, shifting the emphasis to the control of vaccination certificates.”

Let's hope the vaccination requirements will update as well. As I understand it, a PCR test will be needed if your were vaccinated more than 7 months prior to arrival.

Jimbo, I read that as long as you can show evidence of having a booster, that is acceptable, regardless of when you had the first 2 shots.

I also think they will accept any UK proof of vaccination ....

The last statement I saw said "within the seven months prior to arrival." It may have been amended.

Just need other countries e.g. Spain and Portugal, to catch-up now.

I just rang the Welsh govt office and updated paper certificates are on the way to us.
All vaccinations are now on including my 4th ( I had to have 3 primary jabs as I am and at risk pest)

The Greek government site makes the issue clearer:

If you have had just two doses the second must have been within nine months of travel.
If you have had a booster there NO time restrictions.

Assuming that (a) these conditions remain in place until the summer; (b) we are not at war, all we need is to print the vaccination status PDF. No locator forms needed, although the Greek one was far easier than the UK one last year.

UK PLF also being abolished from Friday 18th March. This is really great news but as we all know things can change.

The UK PLF was a complete pain in the rectum - I'm delighted it's gone.

It's all moving in the right direction and hopefully Spain will drop its PLF soon.

According to the health minister, looks like masks indoors, will remain mandatory , at least for the whole of May..the epidemiological situation in the country has not stabilized in significant decrease of daily infections..source  'keeptalkinggreece.com'....don't think this is too much of a problem for most..

Only time will tell. We are in no hurry to travel, but may well be in a minority. The “normal” travel before the pandemic was bad enough for us and any additional hassle will certainly put us off, there may well be others of the same ilk. A combination of this and the situation in Ukraine may sway people towards destinations further west. I’m sure it will be a balancing act and the Greeks will be looking at the booking numbers vs covid cases almost daily. I do hope the former is what wins through!

The only serious hassles last autumn were the UK regulations. The Greek side was easy and efficient. The UK side was bureaucratic and ridiculously inflexible.

There are no UK regulations any more. End of problem. Okay, I'll need a vaccination certificate printed or on a phone. Easy and fast.

I went to Poland and Russia many times before the end of the Soviet Union. That was a hassle - queue for at least an hour at an embassy to get a visa etc. I'm not complaining.

Yes, Barbara, some of it is that, but mainly John's health is not great at the moment, it's difficult at home sometimes, so being abroad would exacerbate the situation. I don't fully agree with dropping all the entry restrictions, at least we had some protection travelling with vaccinated people.

Jimbo even the Covid papers are changing we are advised here  from 02/05 update should be on the Gov.gr site this is to enter Greece from 01/05/2022 but also check the UK site too for exiting and returning to UK.....

Personally, I don't think there Ukraine situation is a very good reason not to travel. If we stop our normal lives then it's a victory for Putin and his mafia gang. The war could drag on for many years. Russia is effectively bankrupt and running low on munitions, most of which should be in museums!

Not being well is a pretty good reason. Having been fairly ill in September I know that if you are ill you will very much wish to be home, however kind the village people are.

Surgical masks - which are what most people wear - are more or less useless against Omicron. But ffp2/3 masks are, and a good choice for the vulnerable in crowded places. Planes are pretty safe when the aircon is on. A recent analysis of data from a thirteen-hour flight showed that a heavily-infected man with no mask constantly coughing infected three people next to him. But on the ground before  take-off and after landing a good mask makes sense.

I’m sure you’re right Jim. We’re slowly coming round to the idea of booking, while there are still a few places left!

Maybe a stupid suggestion, Karen, but for the infirm Little Prince is a good choice because it has a lift to all floors.

We are due to fly out in a couple of days and it seems forever since we were in San Stef last.    Didn't think we would make it this year so feeling happy and stressed at the same time  We have covid pass and proof of our vaccines but I don't think this is required now?  Hope I have this right?  :-\

Think going away always involves a few butterflies and covid won't help. There does not seem to be any entry requirements for Greece according to Jet2 here (https://www.jet2.com/en/flights/safe-travel/travel-requirements/greece), so get packing and enjoy.... I'm sure Lesley will know if there are any restrictions around the resort.

The only requirements now appear to be regarding masks which should be worn entering any enclosed spaces, such as supermarkets, shops, buses, taxis and inside the airport... we do believe another update will be on June 1st.  But as always the best place to check will be via Gov.uk & Gov.gr......

To follow up on my previous post - from today 1st June the use of masks here in Greece indoors is no longer required with the exceptions being Public Transport, hospitals, care homes.  Anyone who have pre-booked private transfers such as taxis, minibus etc where there are numbered seats also will  not be required to wear one.  Of course anyone wishing to wear a mask can carry on doing so.  It will now be entirely your choice from today onward and with a Government Health review again on September 15th.  Kalo Mina - wishing you a Happy month of June 8) 8)
