Completed booking today for next June.
Flying out on Monday 7th June, staying for 11 nights, leaving Corfu on Friday 18th June. Easyjet from Bristol. Scheduled to leave BTL at 6.50am, so should be in SS by about 2.30pm. Fingers crossed.
Staying at Fedra Mare, completed booking with Dimitris this eve. Long time to wait, but already looking forward.
Maybe see some of you there.
-
well bb might just see you as we are staying at christinas from the 4th till the 18th
will get the mythos cold for you, not called "don" are you
have you stayed at the fedra before
we cant wait as well
chris
-
Hey thats great! and you must be one of the first...unless someone else knows better ;) :)...but why just 11 days Brizzle? ah wait, I get, it you'll be having another 11 days later on?
-
Well done Bristol Boy. We are already booked for end of August at Teresa again :) :) :)
-
Chris - not stayed at the Fedra before - hope it's OK. I don't know Don, other than thru' here. I do buy a round....honest!!
Zimmer - 11 days because Ejet from BTL gives us the option of a Monday to Friday stay...and yes you're correct...another 11 days later...in September, in another one of your favourite places.....Carvoeiro on The Algarve! That's our regular haunt of the last 8 years.
Jules - i'm afraid Portland priced us out of a return visit to Terezas! It's far too expensive now and as much as we loved it this year in June it's not worth £1100 for 2 weeks for the two of us!
-
I agree with the pricing!! too high right now!
We either do Easyjet and book privately, or watch for Thompsons (and their subsideries, Portland, Directline etc),
to do their special weekend sale with £200 off or similar, usually after Xmas!
I will be there from 28th June on for a couple of weeks approx!
Sorry to miss all of you who are going other times, but should at least see Don & Sandra!

Yeah I'd put Carvoeiro on a par with SS as far as my hols go, nice enough I enjoyed there too, but where we stayed, Colina, was, while very nice, up some pretty tough hills, ok walking down to town but we needed a taxi each night to get back, at laest it has a recognisable local feel ,that I think is the big difference and far more variety in the shops, some nice restaurants ...thinking of trying Alvor at some point that looks nice too...but, as the great man once said, "Dont look Back" Ive never been anywhere twice - except when I was a kid with the folks, and that was in the days before foreign hols, so I shant be changing that personal rule in the future
-
Well you have been to two great resorts now - Zim!
Trouble is that for you - it will be downhill from now on!! LOL
-
This piece of info is especially for all the Regs on here:
As you know we've now booked our 2010 stay with Dimitris at Fedra Mare, but through the last week i emailed a number of places in San Stef.
Received a reply from the Little Prince today, informing me that they are handing over ALL bookings to Thomson from 2010; no private bookings at all. If you guys already knew this, then apologies, but i thought i'd let u know in case any of you were considering Little Prince for next year as a private booking.
TUI/Thomson on the 'sweep up' in San Stef??!!
-
Though Skala on Thassos edges them and Polis, Cyprus beats them all ....imho...now if I did go back anywhere it would be there,in a holiday home for Nov to March, personally I'd be quite happy to move to Cyprus when I'm older but she who must be obeyed would prefer an apartment in Pembs where we could "Bring it all back Home"..[ our ancestors came from the Cleddau ]I must say that after spending some time there recently in this glorious September sunshine I'm almost tempted to agree, Narberth is a nice village near fantastic beaches, with very good local cuisine and restaurants.

TUI/Thomson on the 'sweep up' in San Stef??!!
We heard this whilst we were there in September. Apparently Thomsons made them an offer they couldn't refuse.
Also some of the owners are asking more for deposits as a few have had people not turn up this year after booking with either no deposit or just a small deposit.
-
Oh right! I paid a 40% deposit for the Fedra Mare booking for next June, but the overall price is such good value it was worth it.
Just seems a shame that Thomson's appear to be using their financial muscle in San Stef; how long before other hotel/apartment owners are 'bought'?!
-
Ever since we have been going there from when Thompson's first got their noses into S S, they have used their financial bullying tactics!
Some years they left Apartments empty, and sent holidaymakers elsewhere, to the detriment of the village in general.
They even made it difficult to book!
But the big problem in a recession is that more people will default to the smaller private owners in S S!
This makes the vulnerable owners who need guaranteed cash-flow to survive, sitting ducks for Thompson's, and who can blame them for that!!
Overall - it will cost us all a bit more each year, especially as S S is now more popular, with return visitors -
Thompson's must love it!!

well you have played into their hands somewhat, they can easyily manipulate the situation because so many are returnees
-
Even so - everyone has their price - - - so too expensive and a lot won't go back if they can't afford it!
Or they will cut back on a holiday - (Don excluded)!!
No one likes to be ripped off - but there is plenty of Private still about and Easyjet - so watch it Thompson's!!
-
IMO I think the T Os have less clout now than in earlier years throughout the travel industry. Probably even more so in San Stef due to the high numbers of returnees. With the coming of the internet and easyjet (other airlines also fly to Corfu...thought I'd better put that in haha) it is so much easier to go the independent way now. This is my preferred option, some may say my only option as I'm Billy No Mates! Haha! :) The more people who go independent = more spaces for T Os to fill up = more bargains at a later date (Thompsons) or keener pricing from the start (Thomas Cook).
Now we just need the pound to rise "Pheonix like" from Gordon's ashes and we'll be well away next year! ;D
This must now stop...2 serious posts in 1 week. I promise to change. Bev where are you 'cos I need to chillax n have a laugh. 8)
-
Hendrix - we all love you - so no more of the Billy no mates - - even Don likes you!! (well maybe?).
-
You say the nicest things Tony! :) Alright, I shall stop referring to myself as "Billy no mates" and shall change to a "solo traveller" Haha! 8)
-
Wasn't Solo on the Starship Enterprise? LOL - see you in a zillion years then - on the next visit!
-
Hmmm....Solo.....Enterprise....near enough for me :)
What a great way to get to San Stef. Jump in the transporter and within seconds you're there!!
Knowing Don's luck this year he'd end up in Zimmer's back garden haha!! :)
-
It was Sulu!! Hans Solo was in Star Wars.
-
We knew that !
-
Hendrix........... Is there anything you don't do solo????????? LOL
-
Thats a bit personal Don !!!!!!!!!lol ;)
-
Jules.......... Trust you! I was thinking hang gliding etc!
-
Swedebasher - close but no banana!!
You have just exposed me as a non trekkie!! LOL SULU it was indeed - but close enough for the joke!!
Jules is having naughty thoughts it seems!
-
To get back on topic, due to a mixture of family bereavements and health matters of my own, I did not do my usual booking ahead until this week ( 1 in Tsaros and 1 in Kaloudis). We were astounded at the prices in Thomson shops, so I booked online to get a discount, but the prices were still up on this year. Oh yes, and I did not book the crap plane meals this time neither!!
-
Yes, as i've commented a number of times in the last few weeks there's certainly no deflation in the holiday tour operators business models for 2010....more like rampant inflation!
What with the £ struggling once more against the Euro next year is looking more expensive than 2009!
-
That will cut back all the poor souls who cannot pay up the blackmail prices!
Less travelling anyway, so less seats on the planes in the company plan, less aircraft, higher prices to keep up the margins,
unless they get it wrong - price too many away and then drop them again - here's hoping!
-
There you go Don - - - http://www.thomascook.com/destinations/greece/corfu/aghios-stefanos/
They use the Greek name version Aghios Stefanos
-
Hello there everyone xxx
Has anyone stayed at the Vicky apartments?? would you recommend them??
Where are they in San Stef???
Sue
-
I'm Billy No Mates! Haha! :)
Billy No Mates ?? What's this, Pyjama Man !! You're one of the crowd around here!
-
I told him that Gwen!!
-
I will be in San Stef from march 2010 and living there with my husband to be and yes you guessed it he is greek !
-
Good Luck fannymarie.
-
You should see them from Glenn's! If you go past Aspa Supermarket to the Sunset taverna and take the road that runs behind it you will come direct to the Vicky. The road continues past the Delfin Blu and regains the main road near to Theresas.
we stayed there some years ago when Thomson had them. They have since been totally renovated. When we looked last year they were excellent. Just didn't like the Thomas Cook flight times.
I've searched every where in SS for Theresa's Don! but the best I could come up with was.....Teresa's!! :P
-
2010 not under consideration yet. A few other holidys to get out of the way first.
-
Don't be so silly Colin!! - I can't believe you fell for that one!! - now apologise to Don immediately!!
Don doesn't make typo's!! - as we all know!
Theresa's is a little blue wooden hut cafe' - built on the side of the sheer drop opposite Teresa's!
It's supported on 95 feet high stilts and wobbles in the wind.
Inside they can seat up to four people in comfort! plus a single seater table for Hendrix!! (BNM)!!LOL
They serve milk shakes (had to be!), and frothy beer - - and their Greek nights are legendary!!
Surprised you didn't know that!! It's the hottest night spot in town!!
Don of course is their most prized (and only?) customer!!
-
Haha Tony, thanks for the mention. I take my single seater table all over the resort so I can sit all alone and do a bit of knitting or crotcheting of a nice quiet night hehe!! ::)
-
I hope it's not a condom you are crotcheting!! LOL
Don would love one of them!! Viva la difference!! HaHa
-
Or one of those pretty PINK rugby shirts... So not manly! What's that all about?
-
Funny - I keep telling Don Pink is his colour - But he goes for yellow!! LOL
-
That's only when the Red & White stripes merge! Ever spilt Jamaican lager on your fave CD?
-
Funny - but it's not Dylan! (not any more that is)!!
Saw the Stylistics on TV tonight - still going and still as good!
-
Bob died when he went electric.................. See Bob the builder... Sponge Bob... All so so superior!
-
Hence the ghost!!
-
LANDY?
-
Or

-
I'm slow but I've got it!
