Title: Seeking advice on apartment choice
Post by: Nic on June 09, 2016, 10:44:44 PM
Dear collective wisdom in the forum
I'm a newbie to this group although holidayed in SS last summer and loved it.
We are a family of 5 (kids age 11,9 and 7) and are looking for a nice AC apartment, with a shared pool so the kids can make friends.
It's a special birthday for us next year so we will have a slightly larger (but not huge!) budget and it's for two weeks next summer.
Kids are desperate to go back- we loved all the restaurants, the beach, people we met.
Tried to contact Fedra mare but no luck, I think the summer is busy with repeat visitors. Can't stretch to delfino blu for the five of us in peak summer, unfortunately
Last year we stayed at perros- lovely 2 br apartment but keen to try something else and perhaps a little more luxurious.
Any thoughts or ideas would be gratefully received!
Many thanks

Hi NIC is the fedra full or did they not get back to you?   Christina's next door no 5  apartment is great for a family like yours but no pool but that's not a problem in San steph

I'd recommend the Perros. We also have young children of a similar age and will be staying at the Perros for the 4th time this August.

They have 2 bedroomed apartments which would be perfect for you. A great pool, nice air conditioned bar with air hockey and a pool table for the kids, and they are a real genuine family that will really look after you.

Edit: I've just read your post fully, please ignore the above, you've already stayed at the Perros 😂

Olga have 2 bedroom apartments with swimming pool and are very reasonably priced

Thanks for the speedy replies!

I've emailed Fedra Mare a few times but not had a reply. We also tried to stay there last year but they were fully booked (they give preference to repeat customers, I think - fair enough but difficult to get a reservation when you are stuck with school holidays, as we are)

I'll look at Olga apartments - do you know if they have a kitchen in them?
Any other recommendations?

Many thanks again for the help!!

Nic,  I think Rose Garden have family rooms.  They have a lovely pool area. A little bit out of the way though.

Thanks for the reply
I looked at rose gardens, but only available through thomson and would prefer to go indi, as we did last year, with easyjet flights.
I think Tereza has some new larger apartments being built?
I looked at Christina apartments which look lovely - does anyone know which pool is near by and if we can use it ok? The kids really want to be in the pool all day!

I'm now going round in circles looking at apartments - can't decide!

Many thanks again for the forums help

Thanks for the suggestions!

Sadly no reply from Fedra Mare...
So I think my options are
1. Christina apartments - she has availability (yay!), look nice, good price but no pool.
2. Jasmine apt at Kapetnaious - think this has a shared pool (Lesley's at corfu selections suggestion - or otherwise a stand alone villa)
3. New 2 br at Tereza - being buit, more pricey but has got shared pool and great reviews

My husband would like a nice, spacious comfortable apartment ; the children just want to be in the pool - all the time! - and meet other kids.

Can anyone help me chose?!

You couldn't do better than Tsaros Apartments, lovely family, nice pool, clean, comfortable Apartments and quiet location. You can book independently or go with Thomson.

Ok thanks you again- responses much appreciated!
As several votes for Tsaros- could be good for us. Does anyone have contact details for them as the website doesn't load and we would much prefer to go independently rather than with Thomson etc
Thanks so much!

Love the Tsaros, stayed there in 2012 and would definately stay there again. Wouldn't say they were more luxurious than the Perros though, very similar.

Thannasis hasn't replied to any of my emails! I would definitely contact Lesley at CorfuSelections. Lesley knows everybody and everywhere. She will phone them up and get some answers.

With regards to luxury..... Most are of a very similar standard. Typically Greek. ... basic but clean.
The two 'posher' ones are Delfino Blu and Pictures.
Teresa has a great pool and views. Loved Tsaros and Perros personally

Thanks again for the replies and helpful suggestions - I am so grateful

Delfino is beyond our budget unfortunately (and looked a little soulless when we looked in at the pool last summer).
The apartments as Tsaros may be best for us although the TA reviews mention that the top bedrooms are pretty unusable because of AC problems in the summer- does anyone know if this is still the case?
Or otherwise take a chance on the new bigger apartment being built at Teresa's ....!

Hi

Margarita suites are lovely and the Athina pool is a few minutes walk down the beach or Nafsika pool is a few minutes the other way?

Totally agree, the margaritas suites are really lovely but I'm pretty sure none of them are big enough for 5

Peli and Maria have a bungalow for 6. We are staying there for the first time this year. I believe you can use a couple of pools - I am assuming Little Prince and Nondas, but may be wrong!

You can use any pools you like in the village, just be polite and buy some drinks or snacks and everybody is happy..not sure if nondas is open this year.apparantly only 2 weeks ago pool was empty

Not quite correct Rilo, Delfino Blu and Fedra Mare only allow guests to use their pools.

Thanks once again for all the fantastic advice. Will contact Peli and Maria as the bungalow sounds great for us and the location is perfect. The other option is Christina apartments which sound lovely too. Tsaros had no availability for us so that is out. I'm sure one of the others will be good and even without a pool, won't have to venture far to find one which will go down well with the kids!

If you are looking for a little luxury you could try the 2 bedroomed apartments 'Sugar & Almond'

http://www.sugarandalmond.com/

There is no pool but they have sat TV and A/C and wifi, 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms.  They are beautiful :)
