Horray sunshine today 8)
A little breezy, which means the air temperature is a little cooler, and the waves are rolling in on the beach....but no rain!

Just about everywhere is now open, and more people have been arriving today, so the village is coming alive for the season.
We've met quite a number of 1st time visitors over the last few days, all of which have said how they are really liking it here, which is great. Think the number of regulars may increase if their comments are anything to go by.

Well, as one first time visitor to San Stef remarked to us today...it's been 4 seasons in 1 day!
The morning started off quite bright, and warmer than yesterday.  :)
Lunchtime/early afternoon saw thunder, lightening, and amazingly heavy rain.  :o
After this the sky cleared, the sun came out, and it was lovely.  8)
Followed by unfortunately more rain tonight, and a drop in temperature  :(

Hopefully the weather will improve soon. In the meantime nearly all shops are now open, so lots of nice things to browse at when the weathers not at its best.
As you work your way round the village there is the olive wood shop on the road in from Arillas, then on towards the beach where you'll find Vasia, Terezas, Pele & Maria, and Taste of Life gift shops, before you reach Crystal Daisy gifts, and Perdita Glass by the beach.
Come along past Thomas Bay, and you have a choice of Elizabeth jewellery and bags, Hippopots ceramics, more jewellery at Sparkles, next to Glass slipper gifts. Include the 4 supermarkets, and theres plenty of shopping to keep you occupied on the not so beachy days

Oh dear, I spoke too soon about summer arriving.....today has unfortunately been a wet one :-[
Unusual for May, but hopefully won't last too long!
There were quite a few people braving the weather this morning, but by this evening it was a little quieter after a downpour at about 5pm.
But there were still people enjoying a drink in Barras, and the first customers for Beachcombers for 2014 were already seated just 10 minutes after their opening tonight.
Disappointing weather for everyone today, but there is still plenty of good food, good beer, and friendly welcomes here in San Stef come rain or shine  ;)

Yay, summer has started  8)

A lovely sunny day, perfect for the arrival of the first UK tour operator guests.

New faces began appearing in the village around lunchtime, (the people who did their own transfers), followed by the arrival of the first coaches around mid afternoon.
Many hotels welcomed their first guests of the season today.

Alot of us have been doing our last few jobs this morning, to be all ready for arrivals.
Others will be open I am sure within the next few days

Yiannis Gyros welcomed some regulars tonight, and there were a number of people enjoying the rays of the evening sun on the front terrace of Thomas Bay.

Today sees a slightly overcast day, but when the sun breaks through it is HOT!
We're all waiting for the clouds to disappear for the summer, and hopefully they will oblige soon.
The village has really come alive now...scooters and quads all out at Spiros and Pegasus, all the supermarkets are open, and all signage, and tables and chairs are out at Mediterranean Village, Zorbas, Barras, El Greco, Silver Star, Two Stars, Little Prince, Kamini Bar, Silver Moon, and Yiannis, plus Town Pizza, Tasty Corner, and Manthos are now open.
Summer Dreams were doing a big cutting back of their pam trees this morning, so will probably soon be open too.

Lots of vehicles coming and going, delivering all the goodies required for the openings that will be happening tomorrow!

This afternoon saw the May Day party at the Arillas brewery, just at the top of the hill between the 2 villages. A little bit of a practice run for the main beer festival to be held in October, it was a nice afternoon, with souvlaki and sausage at 1.50euro each, plus FREE BEER! Add to that a local (ex-pat) band to listen to, and a good time was being had by the nice mix of Greeks, Brits, Germans etc that were there. We really should have been doing the last minute finishing touches to our shop, but hey, it was our last day off til October!

Met CHRIS NO2 today, as he and his wife just arrived today, and have gorious sunny weather.

Lots of people opening this weekend, including, I believe, Beachcombers, and Yianni's gyros has just put his sign out to say opening on Friday.
We're all getting there....nearly all ready for summer 2014!!  8)

Morning all,
Woodman, I wouldn't worry to much, the long range is not always correct, and you will still be in San stef, whatever the weather!
Yesterday was wet and dull, until mid afternoon when the sun reappeared, and today is gloriously sunny, just a little breezy.
So, work has stopped again at the old Chinese, so who knows if anyone is opening there!
Mediterranean village are busy cleaning, and Spiro is polishing all his quads and scooters.
Velantis and Dora are at San Stefano car hire this morning, getting set up, and tsaros cars are all gleaming ready for use, and their pool has just been re filled.
So much going on.....to quote Nikos at Athens bar, we all need to open to have a rest!!

Another quick update courtesy of three w internet.
Unfortunately not good weather today, wet until mid afternoon, but the sun did manage to peek through by the end of the afternoon.
There are a few early guests here, and with tour operator flights starting this weekend, more will soon be arriving.
Tables and chairs suddenly appearing ready for guests arrival.
Barras is now all set up, and lots of cleaning happening at little prince.
Nothing much happening at the old sundowner now.....it seems to have come to a halt, although there is work going on in the old Chinese.....
Manthos and kamini bar were also cleaning, inside and out, despite the weather.
Hopefully the weather will pick up soon.

Just briefly on line, so a quick update......I so need my own internet!
Anyway, it may be Sunday, but we are still working, getting ready for next weekend, when I think many will be open.
Shane was at zest for life today, cleaning all his crockery, and Olga's travel was setting up.
All tables and chairs are in place in two stars, and the sound of Strummer's and pressure washers fill the air.
A slightly overcast morning has given way to a gorgeous sunny hot afternoon.....summers here!

Hi folks,
Still waiting for our internet connection,  so today's update is courtesy of internet at the night owl in afionas!
Well, the last few days has seen alot of work going on. Everything is being scrubbed, painted, or pressure washed!
Everyone is at it, Athens bar, zorbas, Thomas bay, summer dreams, little prince, two stars, zest for life, and us, to name a few!Our landlord enjoys pressure washing so much, he very kindly did our cars too.
Tasty corner is also open for business, and doing quite a brisk trade.
Will do another update when on line Again

Thanks Lesley, must say the dog is glad its stopped now!
Sorry folks for missing yesterdays update...we have just moved, and are awaiting our internet connection. So this update comes courtesy of three w internet bar....any excuse for a beer eh!
Well, yesterday was still pretty quiet, post easter, then today it was like everyone was out!
First people we saw today was Niko from Ozzy oil,and Shane of zest for life, both back from oz, and busy on the gardening at ozzys. Sandra, Kerry, and the rest of the family will be following in June.
Spiro and Ari's, our neighbors at spiro bikes were around, also doing the gardening, pruning all the trees and shrubs where they keep the bikes and quads.
Lots of painting happening at Athens bar and silver moon, and cleaning at aspa supermarket, an summer dreams bar.
And,as for ourselves, lots of sorting stock and trying to find homes for everything!
Will try and post daily, depends on how often I can sneak to three w for a beer, although hopefully we will have our own connection soon!

A little breezy today, but gorgeous sunshine too, and an increase in temperature  8)

People still celebrating Easter, so all is quiet, apart from the random dynamite that's echoing around the hills. I'm not sure of the significance of this, and how it relates to Easter...I expect Lesley may know?

Easter Sunday in San Stefanos, and all was quiet, no work happening today, and quite right too!

Lamb was roasting on the spit by Town Pizza, and smelt delicious. On our drive down from Arillas, there was a lovely aroma filling the air....Happy Easter everyone.
