San Stefanos news and views / Re: Mid May
« on: September 23, 2014, 11:26:12 AM »
We went in May this year 9th - 25th. The weather was lovely, but as I don't sunbathe, not essential. We were able to visit places in relative comfort - the crowds were a lot less (we have also been in August). We would have no worry about booking May again. We are actually having a cheeky week departing on Thursday - weather is looking good too.

San Stefanos news and views / Going back

Never thought I would be able to say that! After a truly fantastic 2 weeks back in May, which left the 2 of us with severe holiday blues, we are going back on Thursday, just for a week. We've booked direct and our flights and hotel for the week are so much cheaper than Thomson want to charge, that is was a no brainer. Picking car up at the airport, driving ourselves, can't wait, so excited.

We are going to try and visit the Theotoky Winery, for the sum of 5E you can have a tour and tasting, again a no brainer.

Hoping that all our favourite restaurants will still be open.

I use Accuweather: http://www.accuweather.com/en/gr/aghios-stefanos/2283443/weather-forecast/2283443

and a sailing forecast: http://poseidon.hcmr.gr/weather_forecast.php?area_id=gr

Accuweather predicts further out, but as Andy says, anything beyond the next few days is largely guesswork.  I like to use the ones that show that the sun's going to shine!

Those are the ones that I prefer too.

Thank you for your replies. Getting really excited now and only a few hours left to work.

San Stefanos news and views / Up to date weather forecast please

I have been looking on line at the weather forecast for the next 2 weeks and I must say I am more than a little disappointed.

The forecast for the next few days looks lovely, warm and mostly sunshine. For the following 7 days, cloud, rain, heavy rain, thunderstorms. The day before we go home sun again.

Those out there what are your views? I have repacked our cases with warmer clothes, instead of all the lovely summery one I have bought.

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Spoilt for choice 2014

An interesting read for someone who has not been out there for 11 years. We have always stayed at the Romanza and for the duration, hire a car, not only to get out and about sightseeing, but to use to get up and down that damn hill! Pushing a pushchair and a 4 yr old down it was great fun, but up, never again. Well he is 20 now, so no pushchair required and he won't be with us.

I am so looking forward to eating at the Romanza, the food was good even back then, but seems like we may be in for a treat.

How cool - I've met a Dibber outside of the dibb for the first time.

LOL - who are you on the Dibb?

Thanks guys - plenty of ideas, I think we may try them all, then report back!

I've just looked this up on Trip Advisor and it looks like a place to visit and eat. However I was a little confused as on report mentions looking across to the coast of Albania? Have I lost my marbles - surely Albania is on the NE side of Corfu and not to be seen from the NW?

Sounds like an excellent idea to me - another forum I belong to has lanyards! They are quite in your face, but easy to spot in Orlando and the parks. I am not sure I would go for a sticker as I am so new to this forum. Also we are going in 11 days and I doubt there will be any seasoned travellers then.

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Recommend Restaurants - all prices
« on: April 28, 2014, 04:39:39 PM »
It is 11 years since we last visited, so can you all recommend places to eat? We really liked the Arillas Inn, but I understand that has now closed.

Not just in San Stef, but further afield, we have a car. We are just a couple, but open to all types.

Thank you for your help - we travel May 9th for 2 weeks.

It is 11 years since we have been San Stef. This time we are just the 2 of us, son is 20 and at Uni. This holiday we are going to go and see Lake Korrison, Mon Repos, Archillion Palace and Kalami. These are things we would have liked to do 11 years ago, but a 9 year old is not the company one needs on trips like that. He is now miffed we are going back to Corfu without him, but hey, we may be back.
