Title: Restaurant recomendations
Post by: mg on July 21, 2011, 01:16:46 AM
Looking to try somewhere different to eat on this visit does any one recomend Delfino blue, Sunset,or Mistral, and what sort of food is on the menu at each restaurant or what is each ones speciality Or maybe you could recomend a favourite  dish you've eaten there
....many thanks.

We have only eaten at the Sunset out of the ones you mention and have never had a bad meal there in the 10 years we have been going. Not sure what the speciality is though.

Thanks Jules will give sunset a try as we always walk past on way from Teresas also going  to try Nafsika and sizzling  steak at little prince based on reviews on here.On previous stays we've  eaten  at Beechcombers Mythica Zorbas and Ozzie oils will be eating  at these again as all were very good.Just thought we  should also try somewhere different. The problem is fitting them all in as having enjoyed a meal somewhere I tend to see something else on the menu and want to return to give that a try........1 more sleep now until our holiday

MG and Lofty,

I can recommend the Sunset.  I think most of his staff are family (not entirely sure) and they do lovely food and quite good house white if I remember rightly.  MG, one of the starters the wife and I tried was "bekri".  It is either a beef or veal dish.  Gorgeous!

Have just read up about Stamnas as although we go to Greek islands
every year, we've never been to Corfu and so have never had Stamnas.
It sounds really yummy so that's a definite visit in August to the Nafsika.

I had a pasta dish at Sunset last year... The best pasta I've ever had. Great place to linger after a meal with a jug of wine and good conversation.

Going to try Olympia and maybe Olive Press this year for the first time but as someone said you already have your pesonal favs after going for a few years and you dont want to spoil a night by trying somewhere different that doesnt live up to your personal favs.Personally Little Prince foodwise doesnt do it for me but I can see why it does for others..its all a personal preference.7 days and counting!!!

Olympia and Olive Press have always done good meals!

The Olive Press hasn't opened this year.  Try Yiannis Grill.  Their Meze for 2 is huge.  You get beefteki (Greek burgers) souvlaki, chicken, grilled thick slices of pancetta, lamb chops, chips and a little salad.  Also on offer is the usual Greek traditional dishes at very reasonable prices.  They have spit roast lamb on Saturdays and spit roast pork, but not sure which night this is the special.

With regards to Fantasea...one man's meat etc....

We too went in June and were the only people in the restaurant. We had a fantastic meal... Kostas and his father were wonderful; attentive, helpful and informative re the fish we had and the old family recipe they used to cook it.
Fabulous view/sunset...it was almost as though Richard had hired the place exclusively for a romantic dinner a deux!!
(Yeah right)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We will be back!

Try Manthos (opposite the Nafsika) on a Wednesday or Saturday, fabulous barbecued lamb, pork and chicken, the best yet we've had in Agios Stefanos.  Manthos son Dimitri from Fedra Mare works there every evening now.

Great sunsets too.

Mama MIA will re-open in Aug with an Italian in command. Good news for those who love its pizza and ice cream whilst watching the Zorba dancing.....

Pizza wouldn't be our first choice in AS normally, but after we
returned from the Albania day trip, we just wanted something quick and easy.
The Town Pizza Chicken Piri-Piri was excellent. So much so that we went back
again later in the week!
If Mamma Mia's is open when we go back in August we'll give it a try, only problem
is deciding where not to go!
Incidentally, does anyone know if Kathy's Supermarket has opened at all this year?

Kathys supermarket is not open and probably won't under the existing owner, as he (Alex) has returned to the US.

It's the last shop on the right as you head out towards Olga and Tereza. It's opposite Sunset Taverna.

Was speaking to a Greek lady who was in Kathys as we were walking past in early July and she said it is re-opening next year.

Loftyscot

We were at Manthos on Saturday 23rd July as well - I was the guy chosen (if thats the right word) to do the dance with the rather slim and attractive Greek dancer. A good laugh even if I felt a bit of a fool.

You were a class act.

Both my wife and our friends Maria and John said you definitely had the rhythm to carry off those moves -well done, I would have been a Mr Bean-style disaster. We were the two families sitting at the table behind you, there was six of us.

Photographic evidence supplied by my wife caught me having too keen a look at the slim, attractive dancer. If you review the series of photos when you were draped with the black cloth I am three to your right with the red-trimmed tee shirt. Maria is the blonde lady immediately to your right.

It was a really great friendly night.
