Hi Georgie  We are not long back from Alykanass you made a good choice, we went with Thomas Cook stayed in the Alykanas Beach hotel we held off to see if the price would drop at one point we could have had the week for £600 but the price went up we paid £800 ,bit of a bummer .If you see a price you can live with grab it .
Okay the food in the Alykanas /Alykes area is superb prices are good .
There are no taxi's in Alykanas they have horses and carts which take you to the further out tavernas I would recomend taking one up to the lemon tree exellent food you can stroll back down to the village or get the horses taxi back.
There is a taverna on the road between  Alykanas and Alykes called starts with P canny mind the rest of it when I do I will put it on,anyway best of them all for food.
Don't miss the Greek night up at Spiroses taverna you go up in the trainaki fantastic night .
There are some good walks if you are into that.
I love my visits to San Stef I also love my visits to Alykanas to some up the food is better in Alykanas and views are better in San Stef
They are both great. Drew Enjoy your stay.

Where to stay / Re: Kapetanios
« on: September 08, 2012, 12:43:36 PM »
Hi Lily we stayed in the Kapetanios in June we were in the old block I think the room was No 7 it was up the stairs furthest away from the road ,the veiw we had was superb possibily the best we have had in san steph .I think if you are upstairs in the old block you will have a good view.
The boss at the hotel does not have much to say but the 2 barmen Domonic and Yannis are exellent.
We liked the hotel and would not hesitate to book it again.
Enjoy
Drew

I would say they are both about a six or seven take a break on the way up to get your breath back,it is easier to go up early morning or early evening when the sun is not to hot . The views are worth the effort.  :)

Hi Jules T

We are going self catering.  Can't wait,  We will be there at the same time as yourself as we are there for two weeks from 26 August.  Looking forward to the sunset from the pool bar.  Have heard they do a good greek night at Teresas, will be giving that a try :)

We stayed at the Athina last May.  Having stayed before we asked for the same type of room (or so we thought) a double with a sea view.  We did get a double with a sea view, unfortunately there was no balcony.  We would liken this room to a cell with a window.  We had paid extra for the sea view, no-one told us you had to request a balcony.  The Thomsons rep was of no help whatsoever, saying we got what we paid for!!  According to her you had to state exactly what you wanted i.e. balcony & sea view etc etc.  We complained to Thomsons both in resort and on our return.  No help whatsoever.  We would advise you to check this out before you go, don't want to be stuck in the same cell as we were :D  Hope you have a great stay anyway.  The staff at the hotel are great, just think Thomsons can be misleading/unhelpful at times.  We are going back at the end of August, staying in Teresa's this time.  Hopefully no mix up there.

there are lots of nice tavernas ,we ate out most nights the locals are all freindly .
just wish it was me going.Yamas

We stayed at the Athina a couple of weeks ago through Thompsons .
We were there last year and the room we got was nice balcony sea view
and well kept.
We asked for the same room this year paid extra for the seaview and on arrival
were shown to a room with no balcony ,it did have a seaview from a small window
which you can open.
This room is little better than a cell I hated it and made my feelings clear to the reception,
and the Thompson rep and the 24 hr hThompson help line.
The Hotel was full Thompson help line and rep are worse than useless .
3 days later we got moved to a room with a balcony but no seaview .
Angry letter to Thompsons no reply as yet
Apparently you should know the room has no balcony when you book it  ???
Maybe you need to take a lawyer down to the travel agent to go through the small
print.
I would say the staff in the hotel were all very nice uand helpfull
George is a kind of tounge in cheek guy not to intimidating at all.
To sum up hotel Athina is a nice hotel with good staff as long as you don't get
the cell you will enjoy your holiday.
Thompsons on the other hand  >:( >:( >:( >:(
