Title: Honeymoon trips - Paxos / Antipaxos trip - Any good? :)
Post by: sian on March 13, 2010, 12:05:57 AM
I want my honeymoon to be a holiday to really remember - so I was wondering if an yone can tell me the best trips to go on - best romantic things to do etc.
I've been told the day trip to paxos diving into the water from the boat in the coves etc is beautiful. What about it? ANy thoughts?
Anyone know the best place to hire a boat from - I think we'd have a fab time pottering about in a little boat - anyone tried it? :)
xXx

Noula or Sally at San Stefano Travel will be able to put you right on boat hire. Wish San Stef had existed when we got married but in those days God was still a child!

Sian, the Paxos trip is quite expensive and long, but it is good!
Noula at San Stefanos Travel   http://www.san-stefano.gr/    - will have more trips on offer.
The only one she does not do that Thomson's offer is the Theo's Boat/beach BBQ - which is a scream!
A similar (less demanding) trip is to the two islands MATHRAKI AND ERICUSA ISLANDS.
Check it out and think about it, also the trip to Paeleo by boat is good and take a row-boat trip out to the caves.
Albania has had very mixed reviews, mostly a touch disapointing, although they were glad they went, just to see it.

Thomsons are generally more expensive than Noula.
Noula's trips are all fully insured inc. transfers.

We only used Tomsons on our first visit and learned from there that the price differences can be almost double than San Stef Travel. Definitely would use SS travel everytime.

Kappa/Sidari Travel opposite Athens Bar and next door to Yannis' yummy Gyros undercut SS travel on some trips. It is worth "window shopping."

We have not done the Paxos trip as we did Albania instead. We enjoyed it but it is not necessarily to everyone's taste. Have spoken to people who have done the Paxos trip and all seemed to have enjoyed it but it is a long day(as was Albania)

Did Erikousa island only with SS travel last year and it was a really nice trip and a lovely island too. Intend to do the Mathraki and Erikousa trip this year. The Paleocatritsa trip by boat(also from SS travel) is also a lovely trip. Paleo itself is in a lovely setting.

Yes not done Albania - I've met enough Albanians not to want to go, and heard the reviews by others,
so I will not be rushing there!
The two Islands trip is a good one and I will be doing that again I think!!

We went to Bella Vista it was beautiful, sun sea and a geat cafe overlooking the beach.
There is also a monostry there too, the views are fab.

When you went to the Bella Vista, you will notice another Cafe' to the right.
Try it next time, we always did the Bella Vista as we know the people there,
but the other establishment is very nice, has a pool as well and the food is great.
Same views, more room and a nice shop as well.

 Sian
we did the paxos / antipaxos trip on our honeymoon via noula at san stef travel, it was a nice day out.
when we were there thompsons had a new trip on we had not done before it was expensive but it did make our trip extra special  ;D
a trip around the north of corfu on a sea plane with absolutely stunning views.
I can also recommend the island tour (we did that one the 1st time we went to corfu) it was a very long day, if i remember rightly it started off traveling down the east coast past the durrell white house, breakfast at a place overlooking the runway at corfu town watching the planes landing ect, then a tour around the kumquat distillery with samples provided, on to paleo for lunch with a boat trip around the bays and caves then up to the monastery (no shorts for ladies wraparound skirts provided if needed) then up to the bella vista for refreshments.
I hope you both have a fab time, congratulations and  good luck to you both.

You can always do your own Island trip, hire a car, drive along the mountain roads and do the wonderful view over Paeleo your self,
that way there is no time restriction or rush. Loads of monastery time and you can drive up the hill to it.
I would do the boat trip(s) and then have a car for 3 days.
The trick to driving in Corfu, is to have a map - and look-up & drive Village to Village on the map - you won't get lost then,
and you quickly get used to the Corfu Roads.
