San Stefanos news and views / Re: Flights actually arriving
« on: July 09, 2021, 03:06:01 PM »
Another Midlander! I love East Mids as its not as intimidating as Manchester or, god forbid, the London airports. I'm a bad flyer so i need a nice calm experience at the airport before hand (Which last time we went didn't happen as the taxi to East Mids didn't turn up and we didn't arrive at the airport until 6.40 for a 7.55 flight- :o )

Lesley, bad news and good news-Steve and I have cancelled our holiday in September in the old block...cos there was 1 room available in the new block so they easiest thing to do was cancel and rebook -we will be in the new block after all  ;D We have just paid so see you in September (and if we can have the end room again that will be the cherry on the icing on the baklava! )

Up at Vicky's our pool and pol bar is now open - open also for non residents.......

Woo-hoo-we can't wait to see you Lesley! Be sure to have a good look at Steve's forehead when we arrive-he now resembles Harry Potter's dad, as he had a drink related argument with a flight of stairs! I've warned him that a nice fresh scar will burn!

Yes they are between Vicky Apartments and Delfino Blue x

I always thought they were Delfino Blu! Me and Steve have looked at them whilst we are at Vicky and he was sure he had stayed there with a mate in a previous life! They look lovely, but we love Vicky, and Lesley!

Is it correct what Chrissie says about Little Prince not opening at all? We usually go there for at least one dinner-and their Village "scrabble" (as its says on the breakfast menu) is delicious!  :'(

Information and help please / Re: Green List
« on: June 04, 2021, 11:31:48 AM »
We intend to go in September if its still amber-we have both been fully vaccinated and , like Rod, we were there last September and felt safer than in the UK. At the moment we have the equipment to work from home (it took 10 months of travelling in to work daily before our employer (HM Government) saw sense and allowed us to WFH though...) I refuse to spend the rest of my life hiding away -we have done everything we can to protect the population against Covid, time to start living again.

Apparently now BoJo has announced in Parliament that if you travel anywhere on the Amber list you can be open to a £10,000 fine...No idea what he is talking about, think he has finally lost the plot! So what do you get for travelling somewhere on the red list? Lethal injection, stoning?

Hopefully we will start to see people on the beach then-is Vicky open yet Lesley? And now I know you look for the planes flying over we will remember to wave when we fly in! ;D

Happy Easter Lesley-seems weird to say that when our came and went! Hope the Easter Bunny brings you some galaxy!

Thanks for your updates Lesley, I'm very hopeful we will see you in September. We have both had our first jabs, and steve got Covid last November and was really ill for about 2 months so he must be crawling with antibodies!

Lesley we have postponed our Canadian holiday to next year and we are booked in for the end of September again so nearer the time I will ask you if there is anything you want-I know lots of expats around the world always seem to want marmite and custard-hopefully not together!
I guess you must already be nearly full when we come as we didn't get offered the new block this time by Jet2 so no chance of our lovely end room!

See you in September, Julie and Steve

Having been last September (a replacement for Disneyworld that was cancelled in April) we now find we may be going again this September as a replacement for a Holiday of a lifetime to Canada in June. Steve goes for his first jab on Thursday as he is diabetic but no sign of an invite for me yet so no chance we will have both jabs by June. However I can honestly say I felt safer in SS than I do at home. Jet2 were very good and organised on the plane and at the airports and everyone in San Stef adhered to the rules (except Steve when he waltzed off to the bakery one morning without his mask and never gave it a thought until he got back!!)
Good luck everyone with your jabs and hopefully as many of you as possible feel comfortable about going.

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Best Restaurant or Taverna
« on: September 28, 2020, 02:03:03 PM »
We loved our meals at Olympia, one night they had people waiting for tables. Just wish they hadn't removed the potato cakes from the menu! Strangely we ate there again last night and there was about 6 of us in. Little prince introduced us to galaktemboureko which is amazing-can't believe no- one else has that on the dessert menu.

Greetings from our balcony at the vicky. Another thunderstorm rumbling around but currently no rain or lightning. Like everyone else we feel safer here than at home and so glad we came. We've eaten at little prince and Olympia twice, barras, 2 stars and zorbas. I was disappointed with the latter as they didn't seem to be trying too hard. I had stamna and it was enormous lumps of chewy beef and underdone vegetables ! And I dislike the habit some restaurants have of bringing out their choice of dessert for you! Also a strange smell of corfiot bathroom at the entrance of zorbas🤢 . Lesley has looked after us all so well here even though there are only about half a dozen of us left.
