I'm really sorry if anybody is upset by this. All my many friends for over the last decade on this forum were in my mind when I chose to set the novel in SS. See loftyscot's kind comment a few above. I genuinely thought you would enjoy being in touch with the release and progress of the book. I will move any more discussion to the Yammas Bar, which is explicitly for non-SS-related discussions - but that's a slight problem because Almond clearly is related.

I guess some who joined fairly recently have missed out on things like the long chats about the Durells, which had nothing to do with SS.

At lunchtime I was waiting for a bus into town and the local butcher popped out of the shop and said "Hey, Jim. We just heard you on the radio! I might get the book to go on holiday." That's what it's all about. It's not a bad advert for the village.

The book is set in SS. Sorry if it offends you.

If you're seriously bored on Saturday morning you can hear me on BBC Radio Humberside at 11:15 talking about Almond. Wow! If you don't live in Yorkshire and are desperate you can find it on Sounds on the BBC website.

Sales are ticking over steadily. Still only two reviews, but 4.5/5 on the stars, so thanks if you did that.

There's a bit of a difference between beds you pay for on the beach and beds you don't pay for at a pool, isn't there? Free sunbeds are a courtesy, and I'm with Carl on this one. Tying up a sunbed when they're in short supply and not using it for hours is simply rude and thoughtless. We usually grab a free sunbed at Mistral or Waves, but we always eat or drink there, because that's the deal. If I'm not on the sunbed or in the sea or walking along the beach I'm having a Mythos in Mistral. At places like Nafsika I reckon residents have prior rights to the beds by the pool. Common sense and manners is all it takes.

Information and help please / Re: Avliotes Pharmacy

They're usually pretty good about that on Corfu. If all else fails, go to the clinic in Ag Stef and speak to the nurse, Dora, who is lovely. If necessary she will contact the doctor. When I had bronchitis last autumn they even brought the drugs to the village for me. If you know the drugs, I would first go to San Stefano Travel and I'm sure Lesley or Noula will help.

Take some itching powder for the towels. That'll teach 'em!

By the Mail's standards that was nearly accurate!

I guess they're more likely to get a vitamin D top-up!

Brollies and sunbeds now out at Mistral. Great to see that, even if we have nine weeks to go!

But the sun is very warm. Unlike the east of the UK today. Struggling to reach 14o with cloud.

Isn't it great to see things swinging into action? The seaweed's being cleared off the beach, and the brollies are going up outside Mistral. Hurray!t
