Whats the general rule for tipping, we're assuming 10%?
-
This is an interesting point. Do you know who gets the "tip"? I am aware of at least one establishment where tips were kept by the owners. I expect the gratuity to be shared among the staff, kitchen, waiters etc. To answer the question, I normally give 10%.
-
I was going for 10%. Out of interest, which place to managers keep it? As i work in the industry i would prefer not to go there!
-
I think 10% is about the norm for most people.
-
We think 10% is a fair amount to tip , but we are flexible ,very good service will get more and poor service will get less or nothing, We have never had anything other than good service and food in San Stef
-
same 10%
but i know at Manthos its all shared between the staff and he takes nothing for himself

Sarah, we normally leave €5 if the bill is between €30-€50. There are three of us so we find that total bill to be value for money, cheers
-
Usually around €5 for our evening meal. It depends on what denominations of Euros I've got though.
This year at the Tsaros made sure I put odd bits of change in the tip jar..... reckon it was over €15 over the fortnight..... they deserve it!
-
10% for us too!! I too would like to know which establishment kept the tip for themselves. That is very mean!!
-
Just wanted to make sure we didn't insult by over or undertipping!
-
10% as a general rule but it often depends on what notes I have (10s, 20 50 euro notes) and how much the bill is in comparison to that. I leave as cloase as I can to 10% sometimes a little more and sometimes a little less.
