Have you looked here? Very little in the way of negative views. We stopped there about 10 years ago when they were with Thomsons. Would be unfair to comment on them after that length of time.
Would stay there again .

Lots of very good reviews last season at the Vicky!

We are staying at the Vicky in September and like you I have read some of the negative reviews on various sites, but there are also plenty of good reviews to be had.  In the end as long as the room is clean and the bed is comfortable I don't really mind.  The setting looks amazing though.  We have stayed in San Stef three times now but this will be the first at the Vicky and I am really looking forward to it.  When are you going?

We stayed at the Vicky last September.
There are two of us and we were in the new block, which was very nice.
We booked to return as soon as we got home, and are going in June and September this year.
If we're put back in the new block that would be great as I have mobility problems and we were on the
ground floor there, but I heard no complaints from the folk in the older block, who were on our flight home and had stayed there previously..
The setting really is ideal, the path to the beach isn't as steep as some have suggested (I managed it!), and the pool area and bar are clean and welcoming.
I read those trip advisor reviews( one of which is mine, incidentally!), and agree with most of what was said.
We found the staff without exception to be friendly and approachable.
When are you going?

We stayed in the Vicky a few years ago and it was really nice. Although we now stay elsewhere we always use the Vicky pool  and like earlier posts always find the staff friendly. I think the view from there is one of the best around and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else for lounging around.

Excellent location great pool area and bar, so close to beach, fab sunsets.   Yes the new ones are a bit plusher as they are neweer but all in all for the 2star plus rating they have, they live up to this. All accommodation there has the same facilities. All self catering, all with shower and balcony or patio terrace area. Cleaning service is good, daily except Sundays. You will have a fab time, we use the pool often as its a peaceful spot in an excellent location.  You can hear and see the sea as you relax on your sunbed..............

Hi,
We stopped at the Vicky last year, our first visit to San Stefanos, and have just booked to go again in August.

The old block is exactly as it says, not as new as the new block, but I don't think that there is anything the should put you off staying there. In fact we have actually asked if we can stay in the same room in the old block as last year. The balconies in the old block have more privacy and get more of the sun in the late afternoon/early evening.

If I was going to be hyper-critical I would say that the toilet/shower area could do with tarting up a little. But this is difficult because of the design of the building. It is on the small side but everything worked, there was always plenty of hot water and the cleaning was spot on. I believe that all the bedroom furniture was replaced at the start of last season.

At the end of the day we don't go on holiday intending to spend a lot of time in our apartment so as long as everything works, the bed is comfy, and everywhere is clean then we are happy.

Where the Vicky really excels is it's location. 20/30 yards (I'm old school) down a slight slope and you are on the beach. Approx 150 yards away is the nearest supermarket. Plenty of places to eat, all within a 10-15 minute walk which is fairly flat. No noise at night.

So the final message is don't worry, you've made a good decision to stop there and I'm sure you will have a good time.

thanks everyone for some brilliant info, we are going in july with manos and are definitely looking forward to now, san stefanos is such a great place, like you say very little time will be spent in the room so as long as its reasonable it'll be fine. i was going to ask about the path down to the beach as i'm awaiting a knee op so thats useful to know
thanks again, mel  :)

it was Vergina or Bergina, or something like that, very nice though!

Going to San Stefanos and Vicky apartments in July... been to Arillas before and Kassiopi many times but first time for SS.  All I ask for in a holiday is plenty sunshine, especially early evening on the balcony with a wee glass in my hand.  My question is "Do Vicky apartment balconies catch the sun?" and if so which ones in particular
Thanks
Disidi

Its a while since I stayed there (although I still use their pool everyday) but if I remember correctly all the balconies catch the evening sun.

Just had fantastic news.  Common sense has prevailed and I have my job back.  Not sure what has gone on behind the scenes, but I am ecstatic.  Please feel free to drop by for a drink and a chat, any day except Sundays, which is my day off.  Look forward to meeting you and have a great summer everyone.

Best Regards
Suzy

This is a major loss for these apartments and won't be the same without your friendly smile and unbiased advise and information for visitors to the accommodation and the resort.  What a shame this has happened to you and how short sighted of those responsible. We do apprecaite it is difficult times in Greece and Corfu however I have received many emails over the winter on behalf of the apartments via my website, which do not have their own email asking for requests for rooms, which I normally forwarded onto you,  so who will answer all these now?  For anyone whom has emailed me, all I can say is call Vicky Apartments directly on + 30 26630 51234. I am sure you will still enjoy your holiday at Vicky but it does help to have a familiar face and contact to help especially in times of need.  Do we know who will now be there? I trust you will find an alternative and hopefully better position for the summer and in San (Aghios) Stefanos so we can all benefit from your knowledge and expertise. I am sorry to hear your news and wish you every success in finding a new position.  ???

suzy that sounds about right for Aris.Weve stayed at Vicki,s three times and the reason we arent coming back this year is down to him.He is a rude and unfriendly man and has really spoilt the place. He didnt seem like he wanted us there when we came last july. You were always helpfull and more importantly friendly towards guests.Who ever decided on him to replace George and Christina needs to have a look at themselves.I hope you find another job soon and i hope the owners of vickis read these comments and act on them cause as far as im concerened vickis needs to find a replacement for him quickly. All the best.

No such dilemma at Olgas, we're going there again and can always have a beer on the way ''home'' at night. A young lady called Shirley keeps the Mythos flowing so you should be ok, we go 15/7, cheers

Shirley isn't going to be at The Olga this year from what I've heard. They are doing some building work there just now.  It's looking goood.  I pass it most days when I'm out running, and yes, I run all the way up that hill and beyond!

Great news about your job.  We are staying at the Vicky for the first time this September although it is our fourth visit to SS and we had heard such good things about you.  What happened - did they have a change of heart.

Thanks Iris and look forward to seeing you both again soon.

Strogs, not sure what went on behind the scenes, but I am very happy with the outcome.  I love working at the Vicky and love welcoming back repeat guests, many who have become friends and also welcoming new guests.  The only thing I am going to complain about is having to look at that amazing view every day.  It's hell  :P
See you in September

Hi John, Jo and Lesley,

Thanks for your kind messages and look forward to catching up with you soon.

Richard/Jackie and Nathan, will be good to catch up with you again in August.

Tonyco1 and Jimbo, don't know if you'll be seeing plenty of me, I turn up for work fully clothed and not in my bikini.  It is a family establishment after all and I wouldn't want to put you off your lunch lol.

See you all soon and have a great summer :-*

How about turning up in a full Highland dress.  I'm a tad homesick.  I know it will be a tad warm for a kilt in July, but if you can find a Scottish tourist shop, they sell lots of tarten linen dish towels.  I'm sure you could make yourself a light weight kilt from them lol  ;)
Title: Re: vicky info
Post by: Jimbo on April 20, 2011, 02:37:20 AM
Suzy - Don would look better in a kilt. He's tall, handsome, and can actually wear the tartan with pride. (That's a beer, Don!)

I'll try to find a big enough tea-towel!

Jimbo,

I know just the place you will find one.  Clinton Cards.  They do kilt beach towels.  I've seen some Scottish guests with them.  They cover all your articles and particles, allegedly.

See you in July  ;)

When in July? Not had tablet for years. Simmers butter biscuits and Aberdeen morning rolls would go down a treat too.

Loftyscot, thanks for the offer, but I don't really eat any of that tooth decaying stuff.  My body is a temple and all that lol.  It's just to sweet.  Used to eat loads of it when I was young.  How about square sliced sausage, tattie scones and Scotch pies.  Prefer the artery clogging stuff  ;)

I must say, though, that Orkney Clapshot sounds as though a drizzle of penicillin would be best...

Like all countries, poor folk developed tasty food from the worst bits of an animal!

Try anything once and twice if tasty!

If it was only bits of an animal we were talking about re a Scotch Pie,
I wouldn't have been too bothered!
Dander, droppings and sawdust were some of the less tasty
ingredients in this particular brand of delicacy!
