San Stefanos news and views / Re: transfers
« on: July 18, 2010, 07:32:16 PM »
We left San Stef at 11.15 on 9th July. Travelled to the far outskirts of Arillas where the coach stopped at an hotel to pick up passengers. No passengers!! After a few irate phone calls the driver realised he should have gone to SIDARI!!! So, back to San Stef by 12.15 Then on to Sidari. The driver was constantly on his phone getting directions and driving very irratically. By the time we reached Sidari I was green and didn't know how I would make it to the airport. In Sidari a rep boarded the coach and gave the driver directions to the numerous hotel pick ups. She then left the coach as we left Sidari. We arrived at the airport after a 2hour 30 min nightmare journey!!!!! I have complained to Thomson on numerous occasions about the transfers but to no avail. Last year the rep said the transfers were going to get better!! Definitley not. Despite the cost its a taxi for us in future.  :( >:( :'( By Comparison we can fly from England to Corfu in 3 hours!!!!

Where to stay / Re: Newbie - Delfino Blu

Certainly did Tony. We weren't even intending to use the pool or facilities just request a look but we didn't get the chance. They should put a notice at the gateway stating Residents only or 'Enter at your peril'!!!!

We decided to check out the Delfino Blu while in San Stef last week. In all the years we have been visiting San Stef we have always been made welcome everywhere. Not so the Delfino Blu we only just managed to reach the main entrance when a British female 'rottweiller' came running out and very rudely chased us saying the hotel is for residents only and no one else is allowed past the main reception area. We may have been potential customers but she didn't bother to ask. We were totally humiliated!!
My advise to anyone considering a holiday at Delfino Blu is---DON'T.

Information and help please / Re: zimaris/paradise hotel

We had a snoop around last year. All the doors had been broken open and it was totally vandalized inside.
A lot of furniture, beds etc but all destroyed. Tv's & mirrors smashed. Such a shame as it must have been a beautiful hotel, once. We did hear illegal immigrants were squatting there during winter but don't know how far thats true. It would cost thousands if not millions to put it right.

Information and help please / Re: Transfer time from airport
« on: May 08, 2010, 03:12:15 PM »
It all depends on the amount of drop offs and traffic. We once only took 1hour 30 mins but that was late at night. The longest it took was 3hrs 30 mins. The return journey to the airport once took us 4hrs 45 minutes but that was most unusual. As you can see it is impossible to give a definite time just try to sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery. I would advise you take water with you. Sometimes it can be bought on the coach but not always.

Try the trip to Pantokrater. On a clear day you can see the whole of Corfu Island, Italy and Albania, fantastic views. Then on to Perithia, a deserted Corfiot Village, where over 1500 people used to live, very interesting. I think the trip only goes on Sundays. Book at KappaVita Travel.
Also the trip to Kassiopi which passes through Roda & Acharavi is very good. It is a lovely harbour with lots of tavernas and quite a few shops.

I would say half an hour from San Stef to Arillas via road or cliff path. Arillas to Afionas about 45 minutes, uphill most of the way. St George will be about another half hour downhill but longer coming back.Depends how long you stop to admire the scenery and take photos. I have not included the times we stopped for refreshments along the way.
