Remembering it's 8 years since we were last here, we really believe that the beach is transformed.
It was always a highlight of the village, but it is much wider and tidier now. Also with 4 rows of upgraded loungers with deep beds including bottles of water, it really is excellent, and dare I say it, more modern. The 180 beach bar is also a terrific addition.
Bravo to all those behind the improvements, what a difference its made. It is lovely.

Agree Lofty, we spent a good few days on the beach in June, up near the Mango bar. The loungers there are more comfy than our bed at home. The beach has improved greatly, so much cleaner, and there was a digger there a few mornings, scooping away the dreaded seaweed. Vast improvement to previous visits, will be spending a lot more time there on our visit in September.
-
Agree with you both, beach is beautiful. :)
-
And the added bonus of full '3 bar' WiFi from '180 degrees' down at the water's edge, lol!. Totally modern :D

They really do take a pride in the village,it really shows when you look around other places.

We've noticed how lots of places have had a spruce up. The main strip looks colourful and bright. No rubbish anywhere we have been. :)

Good post ...in full agreement, beach is fab.... a few years back it was barely a sun-beds width for a couple of seasons...a combination of Mother Nature and hard graft from the locals makes it one of the best beaches once again. Ps first time back on here for a while...good to see a buoyant forum with some old stalwarts typing away....Yammas all !
-
They have really worked hard on it and it shows.
-
WOW !, apparently, a turtle has laid her eggs on the beach this week, the area has been roped off by the police. There is a video doing the rounds somewhere online, how amazing is that :o :o :o.
-
Fantastic Winkie!!
-
How wonderful Winkie :)
-
I just hope people keep away and behave.

Spent many more days here than ever before, stunning beach. Lots of hard work been done to make it so beautiful, especially up near Mango bar, our favourite spot. Paid a visit to the turtle nest, everyone respectfully keeping a good distance from the site, expected to hatch October time, lets hope no storms do damage to the nest. The beach was very busy, folks enjoying themselves, no loud music blaring, a pet hate of mine, made and met many new friends too, had a few lunches in Mango, fabulous place with lovely food. Next year cannot come soon enough, enjoyed it more than ever 8).
-
Thanks Winkie, takes me right back there. Yes let's hope those turtle eggs hatch safely.

Got to agree with you Winkie. Can still remember being amazed at the difference in July.
-
Have to agree, it is a lovely beach and you don't have to walk far for a drink or something to eat :)
-
Spot on .
-
Apparently, the new bridge on the beach, has been badly damaged by last nights storm.
-
Oh what a darned pity.
-
More like the torrent coming down has washed the 'banks' away and dislodged the bridge. It was a sturdy well made thing.
-
The bridge is in reasonable nick - the JCB picked it up and moved it to the car park this morning. We had torrential rain and thunder storms, and a 24 hour power cut, plus no water.
The rain stopped this morning, sky is now mostly blue, but the breeze has moved from the west to the north and freshened. Vicky and Little Prince closed today. Still a few eateries open.
-
Even the Nafsika pool looks choppy on the webcam! Is Manthos closed?
-
Our friends who were with us for part of our holiday came home yesterday.
They were at Little Prince with us and said they had had no electricity for 24 hours Thursday, their last full day.
-
Only a handful of sunbeds near Havana now. Mango is closed. But Waves and Mistral still have all the beds and brollies and are doing a good lunch trade. Yesterday was warm and sunny, with plenty of people in the sea. This morning is cloudy with rain forecast for later.
Food at Nafsika is wonderful, as always. I had delicious roast leg of lamb last night.
-
Looks a lovely day again today, but thunder possible next two days! Still think the temperatures look very good so far this month.
-
Yep. Beautiful today. 80F and the same tomorrow. No sign of storms!
-
Enjoy Jimbo, 11 degs here in Scotland :'(, and pouring it down.

Oh dear that's not good
-
wet wet wet here in Wales (no surprise there). Trying to get work done in the garden before the winter sets in but the ground is sodden. Missing sunshine wherever I could get it. 8)

Weather a bit cloudy today - still getting up to 79F. Time for a walk up to Akrotiri...
-
Another thunderstorm wasn't there??
-
It was not predicted. It was one of those "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition" moments. We sat outside in the sun at Akrotiri for a while having a beer and doing a crossword. We went into the shade for lunch. The the sky darkened a wind started blowing. Niko and Niko were dashing about collecting cushions from outside. A great darkness moved towards us from Mathraki.
We decided to make a run for it, to try to beat the rain. We went the way we came: the steep road and path that goes straight up from Nafsika. You have to be careful going down not to get overtaken by gravity. The wind was gusting severely, and nearly blew me over. As we were in sight of Nafsika the rain started - quite light at first, but getting heavy as we ducked inside, where Aki, Giorgos and Spiros were grabbing stuff into shelter. It poured for about an hour. Went for a kip, and by now, at 7 pm I'm sitting in the bar downing a vino and beginning to look forward to another fabulous Nafsika meal.
So the days pass!
-
Loungers on the beach at Waves, Havana and Mango today 8). Fingers crossed the beach gets back to near as normal soon.

Yes let's hope so Winkie :)

There is a chance it may get a bit rough there today, already a storm nearby!

The sea looks a bit choppy and no one on the sunbeds...
-
I was looking at this storm site (http://www.lightningmaps.org/?lang=en#m=oss;t=3;s=201;b=;ts=0;y=39.7705;x=18.9514;z=8;d=2;dl=2;dc=0;), it seems to be moving away, but we probably all no how things can change quickly there!
-
Rumbling of Thunder from 11.00 the sky was very grey by midday - we chanced a BBQ in the garden around 3pm now sun out hot humid no rain or thunder seems to have blown over to Kassiopi - Happy Sunday All from Avliotes......
