Out and About / Re: Beers.

Beer/lager from a tin! Yuk. Horrible stuff and shouldn't be allowed.

Draught or from a bottle (cat's piss accepted) is always best.

The cats piss comment reminds me of a golfer who before putting used to pick up his ball and lick it. Because of the pesticides used to keep the green he caught (not the right word I'm sure) cancer of the tongue. You just never know.

In our experience it only takes at most 45mins at that time of evening by taxi. Regardless of the time a coach full of holidaymakers will take between 2 to 2.5 hours especially if they go via Kassiopi and Sidari which I have experienced before (it was horrible). Always book a taxi.

We arrive at 8pm on Friday 19th July and I expect to be sipping the first of many Mythos at the Fedra Mare bar by 9.30 at the latest. May even have a flying visit to Tasty Corner. Mmmm.

Just had a look at the webcam (11.36am our time) and there's someone on the beach and I don't mean walking. They actually have a towel out and are sunbathing. Mind you it is 20 degrees there at the moment.

Try that at home now and you'll freeze your proverbials off.

Mmmmmmmm! Tough choice. I think on balance and having taken everything into account i.e. atmosphere, food, location etc the South Wales jury would vote for 2012:-

1. Little Prince

2. Olympia

3. Zorba's (though Beachcomber runs it close).

Euro's looking up I reckon. I think the Italian general election result is going to help the euro rise because of the increased uncertainty in the eurozone that that result creates (over 50% of Italians voted for parties who wanted nothing to do with further austerity - if that becomes reality the eurozone is in trouble as Italy is big enough to go it alone). Allied to our economy steadily improving investors will use Britain as a safe haven which will improve things further. If the ECB were to reduce interest rates their end as well thats even better.

Current exchange with TravelFX is 1.1486. If it gets over 15 I'll buy a couple of hundred worth and wait to see what happens.  :'(

Where to stay / Re: Vicky appts

Hi Sunshine

If you're flying on a Friday Thomson are worth a look from Bristol. Obviously getting a reasonable price depends on when you're going but for our dates they were far cheaper (nearly £100 each) than Easyjet.

Well finally gone and done it. Kept an eye on prices 3/4 times a day. Easyjet kept going up so looked at Thomson from Bristol and Cardiff. Over the period of 7 days the Bristol Thomson flights fell from £428 per person to £288. Bought 3 at £288 so now looking for cheap parking, insurance etc. Don't want much do I!

Definately learnt a lesson this year though i.e. I won't be booking in school holidays next year. I noticed the price for 3 of us travelling the last Friday in June for 2 weeks was £178 per person last week. Thats a huge saving.

Youngest son will have finished his GCSEs by the end of June next year so we'll go then in 2014.

Yep Happy New Year alround.

I'll be staying in as per usual especially as I haven't fully recovered from last Boxing Day when drinking with my dad. Oh my aching head.

Thomson flight from Cardiff on 19th July (Friday) is £418.92!!!!!!!!!! per person - great time though. Ejet from Bristol the same day currently quoting £348 each - crap time though.  Last year we flew with Thomas Cook on a Monday from Bristol for £255 each.  What's happended to the prices???

This is giving me a headache trying to think of where I'm going to get the extra money from. My sons found work so maybe I'll up his rent LOL.

As I sit here looking out on still blackend skies in South Wales I find myself dreaming of next years holiday and 2 weeks in San Stef. Before then of course we have a festive break. In time honoured tradition therefore I would like to wish all San Stef regulars (and anyone else for that matter) seasonal greetings and a prosperous New Year and lets hope that next year brings a relaxing of the economic torment of our Greek friends (and others) and a more tolerant world.

Hi Bristle Boy

We used to use Ejet every year but got fed up with the flight times (I hate late evening flights getting back to the UK at midnight) so we used Thomas Cook this year.

Next year our holiday starts on a Friday and the prices for flights then are more expensive than a Monday - why's that for flip sake.

When we used to book Ejet the prices went up the more people booked - that can't be happening this year for next as the prices for July have been high since they came out (£320 quoted for July when first released - thats a heck of a rise).

Thomsons are quoting £420 each from Cardiff on the day I want!!!!! I ask you, £420 each. I don't want to buy the plane just borrow it for a while.

Oh well I'll have to think of something else we need to do without to save the money.

Cheers

Morning all from a slightly drier South Wales than of late - I have a question.

Normally by this time I've booked our flights to Corfu for July, however I haven't this year because the prices seem to be incredibly high regardless of the carrier. Last summer I paid roughly £250 each for our flights with Thomas Cook. The same flights for 2013 at roughly the same time are £360+ at the moment. Easyjet's prices have ballooned mainly I guess because you have to book your seats now.

Is this just a problem in Bristol and Cardiff or are the prices much higher regardless of where you fly from? If so are the prices going to stay this way because paying roughly £1200 (3 tickets) is a lot more money to find than £750.
