October is such a nice time of the year to visit, even Sidari and Corfu town are more relaxed and you have a different feeling. It's much cheaper we booked with Thompsons who offered us big discounts £600 off a family of 4 booking and the weather is great, the sea is warmer and the sun is always shinning. Not many people around either, which means that the local tavernas and bars are more laid back.

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Have you eaten here?
« on: August 31, 2009, 12:47:08 PM »
The Sunset taverna gets its name for having the best sunset on the island and is a great place to eat & drink. It's where you will find alot of locals on there evening out so thats always a good idea to follow them for traditional Greek and a relaxed evening.

We are returning at the end of the season to SS and at the end of October the village of Peroulades has a huge festival so we can't wait to join in and if anyone is going at the same time then come along it's magic.

Hi Missh

I do hope you will return next time to Corfu and SS, there is so much to explore as Tony suggest earlier the local businesses will support you as there lives depend on you returning.

You know the island is very easy to get around on your own, at first take a quad bike & a map from Spiro in the village even for just a day to try it out, maybe Arillas, Afionas or the other way to Avliotes & Sidari. Spiro will help you with anything you may need thats if you have'nt tried it yet, it's alot of fun.

Hope it did'nt spoil your holiday

Thanks all of you for your nice comments about our pictures
We always take lots of photos. I must drive my family mad, some shots you take seem nothing at the time but it's when you look back a while later that you realise how significant they are and it's nice for others to enjoy them.

Tony thanks we also viewed your pictures on FB, what a nice happy family and enjoying yourselves always by the looks of it.
My husband and I fear it would be a hard target to match Don's tan, dont think he wears yellow as good as you LOL !!!

We took alot of pictures on our travels south down to Paleo, the Swordfish skull in the tree was in Afionas (a villages tradition, a gift or offering). One of the other villages is Palia Peritha (means old) the oldest village on the island and for some years no one lived there, over the last few years the locals have only just started to move back.
If any of you have'nt been I do suggest you make the drive up there.

It is well worth seeing
Happy holidays to all

Hi missh, so nice to hear that you have stayed in Peroulades, or as it's known "Sunset beach". Our friends "George, Kristina & Akis live in the village and it's very traditional and full of local charm, the people are fantastic.

I hope you will be returning again to corfu and enjoy many holidays
