The one we haven't tried is Elpitha. That hill would kill me! All the others are on our hit list for this year. If I may I would suggest the Perros when they have a barbecue. The food was great last year and the dancing excellent. The young kids were superb with their dancing too.

Also Teresa BBQ and Greek dancing night (usually a Wednesday) - great fun. 2 stars and Barras also good for a cheaper budget . :)

Are you sure you can get through this way? - It's not obvious as we looked last year, how high is the wall?

Yeah thats the order, worked out from various reviews of tavernas, and in distance from apartments -- ha ha this holiday planning is almost as much fun as being there :D, I am though, having had one heart attack and angina, concerned about the hill up to Elpida - so that may, unfortunately, have to be replaced with the Barras - which is a shame because the web site makes it look interesting.
Would you say any places definately require booking?

Thanks

we always book the beachcomber to make sure as if its a windy night the place gets full quick, but last year sue said they were going to put up a glass wall so people can still sit outside and they can  then sit 50% more people

Thanks, we stayed twice with Nondas in the Past as well, but in the early days when it was a Bar there.
We used to walk past the adjoining Moras Villas and down the hill. We will look and try to work out your route!!

Incidently (for Zimmer), the chef in the Beachcomber Bistro, Nicky, was the chef in the Elpithas,
until she was head-hunted by Sue in the Beachcomber - the chef now in the Elphita was trained by Nicky,
and both offer great similar menu's.
Elpithas offers a wonderful atmosphere with great background soundtracks chosen by Dimitri and a great elevated night time view.

The Beachcomber offers an ultra modern more minimalist look inside, with a fantastic sunset view on the outside patio area, as it overlooks the beach. I love this one now as no hill!!
My friend last year tried their Beef Goulash - I tasted it - best I ever tried!!
I had the stir-fry pork strips in ginger and garlic with noodles - melt in the mouth - tasty brilliance, as was everyone else's food.
Dribbling now thinking of it!!

Really dug the Perch Parcel at Beachcomber. I'm a sucker for any sea food and also for anything I've not tried before. This was exceptional on both scores.

Zorbas is quiet traditional and they have Greek dancing every night as well. Food in there is superb as well.

Waves on the beach used to be the best sea-food around - but I haven't tried them in the past few years - has anyone else?
They do quite traditional cooking with fish, and great grills etc.
Linda's favourite starter is fresh grilled sardines - we had some fabulous ones at Sunset Taverna last year.
Grilled to perfection!!

Coming originally from a fishing port in NE Aberdeenshire I was brought up on fish and seafood. I would draw a line on me being the killer! Don't like to see the head on a fish when served to me!

I remember picking whitebait as a starter once (not in Corfu) and didn't realise it would be served with its eyes still ther. By the time I had cut the head off there was hardly anything left. Just couldn't bear looking at it with the eyes still in  :(

Revised itinery

Fri 26/6 Paradise [hopefully apt]
27/6 Barras
Sun Yiannis Grill
Mon Little Prince
Tue Olympia
Wed Rose Gdn - apparently they put on a buffet night
Thu Zorba
Fri Beachcomber
Sat 4/7 Ozzie Oils
Sun Nafsika
Mon Manthos
Tue Sunset
Wed Olive Press
Thu Delfino Blu - a new entry and a "reccy" for the future
Elpida? - If I can make the hill

Looks good uh? of course lots of things may change the order

Apparently no Yiannis Grill this year -seems he has gone and someone else there instead
So Yiannis has ridden into the Sunset!! (Taverna?)

I looked at the menu - it's definitely not a myth - it's not extensive but varied and averagely priced. We intend to try it and I will report back.

Don - you do like to "Lead" us on a bit, sometimes it's a bit of a "choker",
especially when you need a "Leg-up", I get the impression you can be a bit too much of a "Brown-noser".

especially when you need a "Leg-up", I get the impression you can be a bit too much of a "Brown-noser".
But you just can't lick a tall "Tail".
At least you can do a very-very close inspection of your balls - -
what!! - (steady girls), tennis balls of course!!! LOL
QUESTION.............. Dogs chase motorbikes! What would they do with it if they caught one?
They thought they were chasing a duCATi and if they catch one they think it's a TRIUMPH!
Or for some would it be a CATastrophe?
Jules - that was a rather "Dogged" response!!
Yes our Jules is very TERRIER like in that she CAIRN never give up!
I won't even put a SPANIEL in the works!!!

Any review yet please Deemac? A menu would be good too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Talk about "our man in Havana" - DeeMAc is our man in Corfu!!
He could be our man in Havana(beach bar ) in Corfu!!
Sorry, no. Haven't been there. Mythica menu not extensive, but good variety and average prices.

Take your lap-top in and describe a meal mouthful by mouthful!
Just don't chew the Lap Top
You could set up a webcam so we can all watch the food and service :)

Bring us all a "Doggy Bag!"
Make sure the DOGGY BAG comes from the right End!!!!
Surely that must count as the ruffest joke yet! LOL

We always decide on the day where we will go on the night time. Usually discuss it when lovely and relaxed around the pool. Sometimes we will change our minds or our minds will be changed for us if our chosen place is to busy.

Typical woman.........Don't get "man-flu", can multi-function all day long, No sweat. But ask them to make a decision!!! Don't ever do it when they're shopping or map reading. That route only leads to disaster!

and have you noticed they have a different timescale,so that
"I wont be long" = at least half hour
"I'm almost ready" = an hour
"I'll be 5 minutes" - that'll be "open ended" then

then, as you say, there are decisions, you walk around for hours then they say
"I think I like the one I saw first" :-\

Do any of the Taverna's have play area's for the kids? almost all of them did have in Arillas, which was great for my then 3 year old, he'll be 5 this year, and it can make the difference between having a peaceful meal or a Manic meal  :-\

The Mistral has a play area - but it is currently closed owing to a rent dispute. Manthos Taverna (next door) may be a very good bet as well as he has a big forecourt area and a dance floor that kids run around safely in. They love kids there as well!
The Condor which also does meals in the early evening, has an indoor area at the back with video games pool etc where kids can run about. The Nafsika has pool table and small area - plus they can run around the outside seating area safely.
Ozzie Oils has a garden area. Some just have a pool area which means you have to constantly watch them.
I'll probably think of a couple more as soon as I post this!!

It's practicaly at the end of the beach toward the harbour - no it doesnt particularly specialise in fish, none of the Taverna's do , whixh is a little disappointing but not surprising given the level of tourism and over-fishing.
The blonde started with Feta in the oven and I had stuffed aubergine - perfect! and definately home cooked, we then had Salmon for her and rabbit and shallot for me and pork chops for Jnr Z,again very homely, pity they served chips tho', my sauce was a little salty for my taste and tended to drown out the taste of rabbit, which was lovely and tender.
Jnr Z finished with a lemon pie which he described as being very lemoney - nice place and they deserve more custom than they had last night, they seem intent on clinging to ethnicity and good for them!!

Tonite - Zorba's which I have a feeling will be touristy greek

The Blonde was indeed well impressed , she started with courgette balls I had Dolmades, we then both had Kaiserii? the lamb was imo a wee bit salty [ again ] and clearly slow cooked - very nice , but it may well have been kid, thats ok though, yes very nice place, Jnr had a garlicky chicken and followed by the chockliets fudge cake Ive seen...some fellow tried eating a table that was on fire, very weird

We had Plank Steaks in Mama Mia's, last week. (Mama Mia's is actually Zorba's - but you can't really see the dancing).
They only cook Pizza there in front of you in the big clay oven.
Everything else is made in Zorba's kitchen, delivered by staff in Zorba's T-Shirts from a Zorba's menu!!
So think of it as Zorba's annex!! Service was a touch slow at first then it was great!! They also do scoop Ice-creams in there!!
The Plank steak's (cooked/served on wood with Mash and Veg), were very good and value for €8.
A good night in all!!
