I don't know Don. More holidays than Judith Chalmers lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
You're a bigger Charmer than the aforementioned Judith ::) ??? :o
-
I do quite well for Annual Leave in my company. I get eight & a half weeks holiday each year plus every 7 weeks I get a week off - mid-week to midweek - - - - so I can't complain!!
I usually do 3 holidays a year - but the problem these days is the cost!! I may cut down to two this year!!
-
Hate to say it but the cost is no problem. The bigger drawback is the lack of hols available to us. I get 8 weeks a year plus whatever flexi-time I accrue. The hitch? Sandra gets a week at Xmas , 2 weeks in June and 2 weeks to have over the rest of the year plus a few of the bank holidays. We have been quite lucky in recent years that regular redundancies have occurred so extra hols have been booked.
-
8 weeks holiday is fantastic. I get 25 days plus bank holidays which then equates to 6 weeks and 2 days of which we have to save at least 3 for Christmas(plus Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day Bank Holidays). Mind you I don't mind having the Christmas and New Year off as I think it is a nice time to have a rest lol!!!!! ;)

My boss lets me have a day off for her birthday and half a day on the thursday immediately prior to easter! She is a lovely lady.... Bow, Scrape etc! ;D

So are you a Beefeater then?
We actually get 10 weeks + holiday, in my company, but they like us to spread some of it around into long weekends through the year.
This year I still have 11 full weeks left to take, as I carried a few weeks over, plus a few extra long weekends - so happy with my lot!!.
We are saving for another 6 week-er to Australia - Singapore and Hong Kong, or a cruise over Xmas, so as I haven't won the Lotto!!
Also having just changed the boiler almost £3K, and looking at a new Bathroom and Kitchen again,
a few new windows at the back of the house, we thought we would cut back on a holiday and get some work done!

More than you would ever believe Tony. Seriously speaking for once, it is a scary world out there! I actually had someone write on an application form "I fort I would be gud at eat." This for a senior position. Great degree but scary, very scary if this is from one of our educated high fliers!

Can't be Hannibal Lector, he could spell, - & Oh! yes - - -he did the eating!!
I had to hold a Disciplinary investigation with one of my newly transferred staff yesterday.
He was so childlike and immature, the supposedly straight-forward "LDi" as we call it,
took nearly 3 hours - (but he still got a written warning), when it should have been 30 mins.
How I didn't bite on his wind-up behaviour I shall never know, but I had a headache at the end.
I find that the people who think they are the world's smartest, are usually the most dangerous because they are the most stupid.
It was almost funny, he tried to blame his hammer toe, a birth defect, on company issue Dr. Martins shoes.
He was pulling paid sickies for months at a time, without medical justification, and was never dealt with before he transferred to us.
I always get the awkward ones sent to me!!
Now you know why San Stefanos is a breath of fresh air - the local people are never lazy scammers like that!!
-

When are you in London Jules?
What are you going to do - Theatre or something?
Like music - try Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club - we had a great night (with dinner) there recently.
Still - the centre of London is only 40mins away from our house by the Underground.

Probably beginning of May time for the bank holiday weekend - not finalised any plans yet. I have been looking at whats on at the theatre and there is so much to choose from and a lot of them do appeal.
The break will be in memory of my Mum who died on New Years Eve as she used to live in Hornchurch and when we visited always enjoyed going in to London by Underground train. We had many great trips and plenty of walking. My Mum loved walking and could out walk us any day. lol!!

I could tell you a few of my own - I also have to attend any incidents in my patch as well - suicides, bombers, failures etc, etc.
Luckily I only investigate, over-see things, liaise or preserve evidence now - we have the emergency services and our own ERU (Emergency response Unit), to do all the really nasty stuff!!

Ahhhhh!!, how you suffer Don!!
meanwhile, I am halfway through the purgatory of having the new Bathroom installed.
Went through two days of having to strip-wash at the kitchen sink - not my idea of fun!! Then the plumbing leaked Sat night - - Aaarrrg!
Hit problems as well - bought a 4 way diverter valve, the diverter "holes" & channels inside it are so small that I have no water pressure.
now having to re-design and plumb in 3 x shower mixer valves instead -
1 for overhead fixed shower head, 1 for hand-held shower, 1 for bath filler. My spend so far is about £2500 on parts, now
Linda wants "Galaxy" floor tiles 10 sq.metres - cost around £840, and then we need around 23sq.metres of quality wall tiles.
Also have to pay the guy doing it!! I said it would have been cheaper to fly no-frills-air to Tenerife daily - just to buy Don a beer!!

It'll make a change from the Canaries. Been to 3 of them in the last 4 months! Roll on June 26th & September 25th.............. Still working on August !
Any idea how to fix an up and over garage door? Cable snapped, Spring broke. Weight on floor! Me and DIY do not go together!

I always thought an up and over was something from the Karma Sutra!!
Sorry mate - never even looked at one - my garage doors are normal double doors on hinges!!
Anyway;
going back to the tiles - I found a company in slough today, Domostone, cheapest I could find on the net.
It turns out that Linda didn't want the star Galaxy Granite Tiles, because they have a gold fleck.
The ones with a silver fleck are called cosmos Galaxy - not currently in production because the mine in Italy is closed as unstable.
Then we find out that what she saw was actually a man made product, even more expensive than the galaxy stuff.
It is called Black (many colours) Mirror Quartz tiles, made from crystal Quartz and mirror bits.
I did a quick internet check again and 10 sq/metres for me was between £1400 and £569,
depending where you buy the same product from. So I drove to slough this morning and bought them at the best price.
Just shows the mark-up some crooks put on products!!
They also did the Galaxy tiles for me at £346 while the same from Topps tiles was £840 on special discount!!
So by shopping around for everything my costs have been approx £2700 plus labour and I have saved at least £2000
on the quality items I bought. Price of a good Holiday I'd say!! - - -with change!!

I try to keep it quiet though, or you will find Don & I, marching along the main street playing Bagpipes!!
But lets put it this way - I support England as a first! (especially the Rugby).

No not true - I equally love the footie - I used to play Football at a reasonable level,
and Rugby mainly just for fun, when I was 'slightly' younger!!
However, I like to see the England Cricket Team do well - been waiting many years now though!!
But I only watch it if I am at a ground and you get the atmosphere - I find it boring to watch on TV to be honest!!
Maybe we should ask Don how the Scottish National Cricket Team is doing??

Wow Don less than 100 now and into double figures. Doesn't the time go quicker than any of us really thinks it does. :)

Yes!! - well sussed out!! - I am afraid I do have a little Scottish in the bloodlines - eminating from the Aberdeen area of wee Bonnie Scotland,
I try to keep it quiet though, or you will find Don & I, marching along the main street playing Bagpipes!!
But lets put it this way - I support England as a first! (especially the Rugby).
I suppose someone has to lol!!!! ;)
Hi Jules - you must have some "Viper! in your bloodlines - 'cos that hurt!! LOL
PS. = = = = = = 106 to go
Just much prefer the football Tony - I take it you don't. Also love the 20/20 and 40/40 cricket in the Summer - very exciting.
104 to go

Didn't know we had one!!! We do cycle well though!!! We do have the best golf courses though!!!!
Well you were quick there!! - Good answer on the cycles & golf - shame Gord/Brown was an export!!
100 Days to go

Unlike our racial stereotype we are far from selfish and are a very giving people. You have to agree we gave you Gordon when we could have been tight and kept him for ourselves but we can have too much of a good thing LOL
