Title: What's the best fish restaurant?
Post by: mythos2 on June 02, 2013, 01:03:19 PM
My other half never touched fish until we were in Arilas three years ago - now she loves it.  Any comments or recomendations about the best traditional local fish diners in San Stefanos?

Manthos Taverna,in the old part of the village. He buys the fish from the van that comes up from the new harbour so you know

it is fresh as it has came straight off the boats. He will even encourage you into the kitchen to choose your own fish.

That's right. So does Spiros at Nafsika. The bigger places in the main village apparently buy commercial fish from Corfu Town.

Yes he does sardines but don't expect them to be as big as Portuguese ones. Also they only fish for sardines during certain

phases of the moon but I can't remember the significance of this or whether it has to be a full moon,a new moon or no moon at all!!

Thanks for that Dupnica. Even though we have been going to SS for years we have never eaten in there but may try it this year. :)

Agree with most, Manthos is the place to go, try the seafood platter, includes octopus, gorgeous, situated directly opposite The Nafsika.

Also try Gratsela Taverna in Arillas, mostly seafood caught by the owners of the taverna, situated right on the beach.
