I agree Rod, one of the reasons we love San Stef is there is none of that up at the crack of dawn to get a sunbed. Everywhere we have stayed has been so laid back with no stress. I would have thought the management should have had a word with them. I would have been mad if I had no where to sunbath and people had reserved beds and didn't use them.

Oh I see, it would have helped if they had given you an explanation, I don't think that I would have been very pleased with just being waved away either. Seems very odd.

Lilly it didn't matter, as we all know there are plenty wonderful restaurants to choose from.  :)

Hi Jaxbubbles and D&G, why did they not let you in? Was it full at the time? I can't imagine anyone turning customers away and can't think of a reason why they would do so tbh.

No it wasn't full. The chap just waved us away! Maybe he was having a bad night or his kitchen appliances had broken down!! Or maybe he was expecting a big party of 50 people goodness knows. but he didn't give any explanation. In fact he didn't say a word!! just waved us away without a smile or anything.

We didn't bother with the Olympia this year due to being turned away last year, I'm stubborn like that. :)

Surprised you found the Barras not so good. We had a couple of great meals there this year, the Kleftico was particularly good and it was one of the less expensive meals we had.
They didn't let us in a few years ago and there was only me and my husband, so stubborn like you we never went back.

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Elpitha
« on: June 26, 2013, 05:47:53 PM »
No no no!

It's chained in an apartment, in locked grounds past the Nondas apartments, actually closer to the Theodosia apartment block. Absolutely nothing to worry about!
Thank goodness I thought I was going to have to find somewhere else to stay ::) Rottweilers are the only dogs that I am absolutely terrified off.
D@G Thanks for your reply  :)

Is this dog staying at Nondas in an apartment? or did I pick this up all wrong. We are staying at Nondas and don't fancy having to get past a Rottweiler everytime we are going out or in! :o

Manthos has a small amount of sunbeds and brollies in his garden, he just got new thick matresses for them, if you buy a drink you can use them.

We were there in May and it cost 300 euros in the apartment we had for a week. We had a look at the studio which was nice and that cost 150 euros. I am sure they will cost  more in the busy season.

And right opposite Manthos is Nafiska, which has excellent food. Then, of course, Beachcombers.

It took us a week last year to make it into the village at all!

Jimbo I hate to say but we never made it to the Beachcomber which is my favourite place to eat. Don't ask me why we never went there because I don't know!! We had a drink in the Nafiska, there was a group of ladies who were having a great time, they had their own Karaoke going (words supplied by their I-phones,)

We are staying at Fedra Mare from this friday for a week, so it was great to read your report confirming everything Debra told us about it last year. We are in one of the apartments, sounds brilliant. Wish we hadn't mentioned the chocolate cake for breakfast to our grandaughter though.

Middy you will have a great time, we are looking to go back to San Stef at the end of July but the FM is full. We will have to find somewhere else to stay Tell Harri and Demetris the Fisher clan from Scotland send their love:)

We are just back from the Fedra Mare and it is the best apartments we have ever stayed in. Lovely big apartments with two floors. Big rooms and a bathroom with a shower and a bath!. Lovely toiletries and fluffy housecoats with slippers to match. Wonderful views over the pool and sea, and two balconies. The aircon is included in the price and the safes are free. Nice little touches everywhere like water and fresh orange in the fridge when we arrived, candles in the rooms to keep the mozzies out.
Great pool area which was cleaned every morning. The sun beds and seating area are all of excellent quality. It is like a five start hotel!
And I could not forget the lovely Harri and Dimetris (not sure how to spell his name) running it. They are the kindest, friendliest most helpful hoteliers I have ever came across.   And of course  the best breakfast in San Stef (my opinion) :) which included chocolate cake, fruit and biscuits, cooked by the lovely Harri and served with her great sense of humour.
Special mention to Manthos and his wonderful spicy prawns and mussels that my husband had to have nearly everyday. Not that I minded, sitting with my glass of wine and my feet on the wall watching the world go by has to be up there with my 10 most favourite things to do.  Looking forward to going back.

We go on Tuesday, and the lack of sunbeds doesn't bother us as not really beach folk. Maybe Manthos has got his free ones (if you buy a drink) at the bottom of his garden.  :)
