Title: Jerry at the Silver Star Bar
Post by: beachbum on August 29, 2012, 01:13:09 PM
Hi. The last couple of times we've visited San Stefanos we've enjoyed the "60s" night with a great singer (Jerry??). We're back again next week and would like to know if he's still appearing at the Silver Star and on which night? Thanks!! Colin and Caroline

Hi Folks,

I know he was on earlier in the season, but recently saw a Facebook message suggesting he may have returned home early this year; I've not had this confirmed though. We always enjoy a good 'Jerry Night' in San Stef, with a nice bottle of Apelia red after a nice meal. Be a shame to miss him this year, if he's not there.

Great end to their season last year when Jerry, Groucho and Keith Mitchell all played together at Athens Bar!!  :)

Thank you all for your replies. Pity if he's not on but I'm sure we'll have a great holiday in San Stef anyway.
Fingers crossed for the sunshine - we deserve it!!!

We saw Jerry crooning as we passed by in july, he had undergone a make-over and no longer looks like Jim Bowen (of Bullseye fame),
new image was a lot better!

There's a comedy hypnotist on at the Silver Star in place of Jerry, I think he had about four people in the audience and didn't seem to be attracting many more.

The storms have taken hold and we had almost constant rain from Thursday evening and throught yesterday. It's still very cloudy today although the sun is trying to break through.

Hmm - might give the hypnotist a miss - prefer a bit of music - hopefully we'll manage to find some

I can't believe Jimbo has not joined this thread!  He must be itching.  Mind you, I think he has used all his best lines up on previous posts.   ;)

Every time I try to join this thread I hear a strange voice in my head saying "Don't do it, don't do! You will wake up in 5 -4 - 3 -2 -1"

My Creative Writing students at the University say I have a genuine talent for hypnotism. They arrive at 7pm, promptly go into a deep trance, and can't remember a thing two hours later.

Poor old Jerry. He gets a lot of stick, but actually he still sings pretty well. In fact, very well.

Peace and love. Gillie, stop waving that necklace in front of my eyes........

Returned from San Stef on Monday and had a great 2 weeks - weather brilliant apart from the thunderstorm - much  better than expected.  Had some lovely meals as usual and first time ever eaten at Nafsica and so good we went back again - lovely meals both times with very warm welcome.  We did miss Jerry at Silver Star - I know he gets knocked quite a bit but I'm sure it's only meant in fun and that he doesn't take himself too seriously - anyway hope he returns next year but not sure if he will. Did go to see what the replacement was like but found it a bit embarrassing - only a handful of people there.  Thought Neil Diamond singer at El Greco really good and the Michael Buble/Robbie Williams tribute at the Condor too.  Also disappointed the Greek night at Romanza cancelled  as we always love to go there - think we probably went a little bit late this time for the entertainment - however had a wonderful holiday and first time we had been to Erikousa island which was wonderful.   Next job now - to book for next year :)

I can also testify that the Romanza hosts a wonderful evening there, we loved it!!

However, the last I heard was that there had been ramdom attacks by Vlad the giant black dog.
It seems he had been working his way along the road from Avliotes, eating the odd defenceless local human,
as scraps from tourists had diminished with the autumn approaching.

The evening "do", was abandoned as the smell of the wonderful BBQ would have driven him mad.

Luckily, they called up the volunteers - including, Waspman and Yannis, who dropped everything at home and hopped on to the new Thomson Dreamliner, specially commissioned for them!

Immediately upon arrival, the formed the new Romanza Dads Army Unit, and were issued with The Short Magazine Lee Enfield (SMLE) affectionately known as the "SMELLIE".
A rifle known to scare the living daylights out of Vlad, having previously had his tail shot off by sniper Waspman last year.

Taking turns, a 24 hour guard was installed at the entrance, last night, Waspman and his smellie were the deterrent force - - - just like a nuclear shield.
Vlad however is watching from afar - - - - - - - - - - - (is this the end - or is there more to come??)..................
It's going to be a long night!!!!!!! and the distant howling creeps closer . . . . . . . . .
