Is anyone who is travelling with Thomas Cook to Corfu having problems submitting this on the api site.
-
I don't think it's necessary for travel to Corfu,
at least not according to the Thomas Cook website.
We didn't have to submit it when we travelled in June.
-
Thomsons ask for it and all went through ok for both of us. I think it is supposed to help for quicker check in - not sure if it does or not
-
Hi Gill don't know if it's any help but I have just done our API with Thomas Cook for Kefalonia originally it said they didn't need it on their website but when I put in our seats together it said to put in API did this on thomascookairlines site not on the manage my bookings site and it's your holiday number that begins with a letter
-
On the Thomson site you need to use your FLIGHT booking number, which not the same as the holiday booking.
-
Its a Border Agency requirement, and the point is made you might be refused boarding if it is not done.
-
Thanks for replies had already booked seats together but could not do API as did'nt have all passport numbers .Will try again if any problems will go to where we booked tickets...Thomas Cook travel shop !!!
-
All ok managed to do it on manage my flight, the site they tell you Thomascookapi.com will not let you submit .
-
i phoned thomas cook as i tried to do it for this september they told me they were not doing it for greece from now
-
On the Thomson site you need to use your FLIGHT booking number, which not the same as the holiday booking.
Have just done for our September trip- it is the Accommodation booking reference (6 numbers) that is required at Thomson website.
-
All very interesting but what do they do for TOD's (Tickets on departure)
-
We booked the package with Thomson's, no request for Advanced Passenger Information.
All our seats numbers pre-booked each way.
Is this just for flights only?
-
Tony on our booking it mentions it on the Important Information part on your original booking details. On ours it is on page 4
-
Just booked package holiday (Thomsons) for Gran Canaria for October, today and they stressed that we must input the API. You can do this from 6months up to 24 hours before your holiday departure date.
-
Quite so, and in bold at the end of the Important Information it states 'Failure to provide this information may result in you being unable to travel'
This from the Thomson site;
What happens if I do not supply API?
All airlines are required to collect and transmit API data for those countries governments that legally require the provision of API data. Failure to supply API information could result in you being denied boarding and not being able to travel.
-
I'll get on with checking this out!
-
we had to give for thomsons but thomas cook say they have stopped for greece dont know why they have done this as it just makes it more confusing for people also i thought it was not up to the airlines but can only go by thomas cooks help line and i did try to do it on line but it will not let you
-
I did a search on Thomson' website, they have a page to do this on, so I am putting all the info together and will input it.
Thanks Swedebasher for the tip off!
-
I did mine on Thomson a few weeks ago. They sent me an email reminding me to do it,
but I'd already been on and submitted the info.
They say you can do it at the airport but it holds you up a bit at the desk.
-
Beware of all the gubbins you are asked to key in. All we did was check that everything was accurate in relation to our flight and then turned up at the airport with passports and Thomson Airways email and off we went.
Thomson did the promotional thing by trying to get us to reserve actual seats before flying (at a cost). We ignored it and got our three seats together in row 4 at no extra cost.
Just be careful, a lot of this stuff they flag in the API is not necessary and is just a bureaucratic gravy train to keep the income streams up.
cheers

I have just c/p this from the Government website about API,
Registering your API
Your airline will usually ask you to supply the passenger details found on the ‘machine-readable’ page of your passport. This is the page containing your photograph.
You may be asked for your:
full name
date of birth
gender
passport number
country that issued your passport
date of passport expiration
You may occasionally be asked for additional information, like the address of your first night’s stay.
Your information will be taken either at the time of booking or by an automated passport reader during check-in. In most cases, you may not be allowed to travel if you do not provide your API in the time required.

Still would like to know what they do when you buy tickets on stand by at the airport????? API ?????
-
Zoe, (Guest), your reply was most welcome, the debate is fairly normal for a forum, with different views.
I for one welcome your input, the information is always helpful and hope you will still do an occasional post still.
Re: the API I am about to input all the info onto Thomson's website page (I did a search under API),
I will put it in to be safe - so thanks for everyone on this string, lots of good info gleened from everyone.
If it saves me a few minutes at the airport I will be happy!
-
Thanks everyone for your help and input, I had overlooked this API register, all done now and I spotted it in my paperwork when I read through more carefully.
Thanks to everyone above, it kicked me into action, I simply forgot about it - proves how a discussion like this can be invaluable - Cheers!! and YAMMAS!!
-
Have a great holiday but then how could you not ! ;D Hope the weather's good ;)
