San Stefanos Online ~ North West Corfu

I used the ATM near the beach, in September 2012 last so it may have chanced but back then the machine gave two options, a guaranteed rate of 1.14 or the prevailing rate when the transaction goes through your bank. I took the later and when I returned home I checked my bank, the rate charged was 1.251 !!! reduced by my banks fixed fees to 1.219 on a withdrawal of 200 euros (so with a larger withdrawal the rate would have reduced by less).

Significantly better than the 1.14 guaranteed, not sure if my bank would have charged their fees on the 1.14 but I expect that they would so reducing the rate to 1.10.

Potentially £16 more expensive on my 200 euro withdrawal

If the ATM software is the same take the non guaranteed rate.

I'm very impressed with the Kindle Fire, we have a basic WIFI one. Apart from reading books and playing music it can when in a WIFI zone - access the internet, check your email. All for £129.

Bottles and canned beer tend to induce headaches next morning  .

I find that too - and have a theory that the more I drink the bigger the headache!!!! lol  !!!!!

We've been to Zante and really enjoyed it. Haven't stayed at Kalamaki but if you decide it isn't for you I'd recommend Alykanas as a good quiet resort with a nice beach.

Car booked for the trip to tomorrow's game - don't know if we will be able to get in but it will be an adventure. Two seats available!!!!

On our way to San Stefanos tomorrow and have noticed that Corfu are playing Crete at home on Saturday the 29th (15.15 ko). Has anyone been previously?, can you pay on the door to get in?. Is any part of the ground better avoided?.  Does anyone have any advice?

Online at the Post Office today (6 July) the Euro is 1.218 (for transactions of £500 and over), free delivery to your local post office and best of all no charges if you use a Post Office credit card. Also the Post Office card doesn't have any transaction fees if you use it abroad so a good emergency card.

We visited Elounda (Crete) in 2010 and then Aghios Stefanos (Little Prince) in 2011, enjoyed both and you will too. We are returning to the Little Prince this July / August - a first for us! - having previously picked a new island every year.
