Title: your own seven night eating out agenda
Post by: stressed0506 on January 29, 2011, 08:39:45 PM
We have friends coming out to San Stef in July who are both foodies.
I have suggestions for them re eating out but wondered what other forum members would list as their own "must visit" places if you only had one week and wanted to demonstrate all that SS has to offer.
I think I would go for:
Olympia
Nafsika
Ozzy Oils
Beachcomber
Waves (for fish)
Mythica
Yiannis (or whatever its now called) or Zorbas

with stops at Tasty corner or the kebab shop opposite entrance to road to Athina.
suggestions please.

Add Golden Beach (now that it has been 'refurbed')  Great views is a bonus
Manthos can be excellent (and a good Party Night on Saturdays if you want that sort of thing)

We will be visiting the Brand New upgraded Fantasea Restaurant at The San Stefanos Hotel, (Formerly Golden Beach) -
highly recommended now - must give them a try - as they do try harder!!
Classy Greek / Italian (some international), food there!
Or do you want a special meal - bistro style - try Beachcomber, Mythica and Ozzie Oils or Elpitha (when open).

We would also eat in all the other previously mentioned ones as well if we could!! - - - Only 7 days!! Take a walk around and take your pick!!
It gets harder to choose as years roll by - we eat in them all!
Olympia / Nafsika - big choice international dishes, Manthos / Sunset = well established great food.
Sometimes it's a case of which "special" catches your eye as you go past - all the S S Restaurants are good - go in any - you just can't really go wrong!!

Don't forget the Olive Press - still serving great Lamb, chicken, pork cooked on the spit!
Two Stars for good food variety on a budget! Thomas Bay Hotel as well!
Also great lunches / snacks at Aquarios Bar, Akrotri / Gravia (on the headland), Mistral, Havana Beach Bar and Summer Dreams - and many more!
BBQ's evenings with entertainment at Teresas and Ozzie Oils,
No - have a 21 day holiday - 7 days is not enough!!!
Take a walk up the hill one way and enjoy Romanza's well recommended food.
Tasty Corner and Yannis for snacks and then there are the Pizza Houses too.
We haven't even started on the bars yet!!

Are you going out in July as well Lynn?
I think Sunset instead of Yiannis  Grill room, we were disapointed this year with the food but were very pleased with Sunset. All other restaurants ideal food is good in each.
Yiannis and Tasty Corner great for snacks also don't forget Juice Bar for handy sandwiches.

Oh, let's not forget the Gravia Bar up on the headland overlooking Arillas - Costas ex Nafsika - lovely spot - easy to walk, past the Perros and round the 2 bends in the 'road' (if you can call it that), turn right signposted Gravia Bar and  then a steady walk up to the bar.  Lovely views, lovely food, lovely coffee and lovely Costas and his family.  Perfect lunch or breakfast.  He will probably have opened his apartments above up this yera - they were booked even before they were properly built!  And then walk back via the Akrotiri bar on the headland between SS and Arillas - what a perfect day, for me a perfect memory on this gale swept February day in Derbyshire

I see their website has a discount of 5% for 2011, so they made it through last year, hooray.

Everyone has their own favourites, but I really believe you can eat anywhere in S S and have good food 99% of the time.

we were in SS in June, the olive press was not open. we ate at the Barras twice, very good food, reasonably priced. George and his sons make you really welcome. The beachcomer is fabulous , lovely food and the sunset is beautiful. the sunset is really good, sit out on the lovely patio and have a cold drink, followed by a lovely meal cooked by Spiros,s Mum and sister. we cannot wait for our return visit in August,3 weeks of bliss.
