Well, its been a lovely few days in San Stefanos.....very windy at times at the weekend, but the days have been hot and sunny, and the temperature really comfortable, perfect for beach and pool days, but not too hot at night.

The village has filled up now with lots of families, and its been nice to see lots of familiar faces.
The beach is staying busy well into the evenings, with lots of Greeks and Italians enjoying the sea, plenty of cars from all over Europe in the village now.

Wooden shuttering has been erected either side of the stream down by the bridge, my theory is that they will be constructing retaining walls either side to prevent further erosion towards Eleni's supermarket, and Acabar.....of course I could be wrong, so watch this space!  :)

Well, after a couple of very humid days, we had a fantastic Corfiot lightening show on Sunday night, and a few rumblings on Monday morning, which really helped to clear the air. Since then its been more fabulous hot sunny days, with much more comfortable evenings.  :)

As Rilo57 says, there has been some work going on at the stream by Eleni's supermarket, with a digger doing some dredging, and now stones in the base of the stream, not sure why, but my guess is it's pethaps to prevent more erosion of the banking by Eleni's supermarket, as everytime we get heavy rain a little more bank slips away. Hopefully the terrapins are OK.....have seen on facebook that there are a lot in the stream further down, by Margaritas suites, so hopefully they moved downstream.

And the beach was still really busy at gone 8pm tonight, busieist I've seen at this time all summer! Tavernas also are nice and busy.....Beer O Clock was packed on Monday night, and tonight Chilly Chili have a meze night, which looks like it could be popular. There's also regular Greek night happening at Summer Dreams tonight, for anyone fancying traditional Greek dancing.

Well, we're definitely in the throes of August, hot hot hot sunny days, and warm balmy nights, or in the case of tonight, very humid!!
There were some clouds building slightly tonight over the islands, so with the increased humidity, we may be in for a good old Corfiot thunderstorm sometime soon.....must admit it would be great for clearing the air, but would be nice if it comes overnight!!

A very busy beach today, and still lots of people down there, and in the sea at 8.30pm tonight. Many cars still parked up, and Waves, Manthos and Mistral were all pretty full.

Zorbas were also very busy tonight, and all the bars have plenty of people sat outside enjoying a drink or two. ;)

Another gorgeous hot and sunny one today. And after a quite rough sea last night, this evening all is calm. And at 8.30pm still people in the sea, and quite a lot on the beach.
Plus tonight's sunset was a brilliant clear one, what more could you wish for!!

Fair bit of entertainment going on tonight too. 2 Stars has their Greek night, the dancers were outside as I walked by, all dressed in their gorgeous traditional dress.
Olly Murs/Robbie tribute doing his weekly stint in Condor, 3 W's has their regular Thursday night quiz, and Sarah James and the Red Belly turtles playing in Athens Bar.

Hi All, apologies for a lapse in posting again.....not been so good in keeping up this year!

I was lucky enough to have some friends visiting for a week, so got somewhat waylaid!! But it did mean that I managed to get out and enjoy the village too, it felt like a little holiday for me!

So its been hot hot hot, for the last few days, but this afternoon the breeze has got up a little, which has cooled things just slightly, but you do get a little windswept down at the beach!! After seeing many taking photos of the glorious sunset last night from the patio of Beachcombers, tonight many establishments are making use of their plastic windbreaks!

Lots of families arriving now, with British school holidays now in full swing, which gives the village a slightly different feel to the edges of the season. It's nice to see lots of children enjoying the beach, and we see lots of them clutching their lilo's as they make their way to the pools or sand.

It's also the main holiday season for other parts of Europe....August always brings lots of Italians to the island, and we've seen lots of Eastern European registered cars, so plenty have driven over. Always nice to chat to different nationalities when they come into the shop.
Tonight Acabar was nice and busy with pre-dinner drinkers, and all the tavernas look to be doing well.

As Lesley says, its been a bit on and off with the electricity the last few days. After the fire up the pole last week, lots of maintenence is being done around the village. On Monday main cables were replaced between Barras and Silver Moon, and today work was being done elsewhere in the village.

Was a little cloudy yesterday morning, but once the sun broke through it was another lovely hot day. Lazy days by the pool, followed by slightly cooler evenings, which is nice.

Tonight we were treated to a 'walking concert' by the Avliotes choir. They set off from San Stefanos church, then worked their way around the village, stopping in various places to sing. So nice when they come to the resort to do this!

Guess what, hot and sunny again, with not a cloud in the sky 8)

Beach nice and busy today, with plenty of watersports going on.

It's a lively night in the village tonight, with lots of local Greeks also out enjoying the nightlife.

Spoilt for choice tonight if you like live music too.....regular Saturday night duo in Athens Bar, music in Condor, Bar 38 and El Greco, plus Splinter Band playing in Nafsika, so very busy there too.

Well, all back to normal after approx 10 hours with no electricity yesterday. Around half nine in the morning the power went off due to a fire in one of the electric poles above Tsaros.
The electric company could be seen going from pole to pole giving them all a jet wash, as aparently the fire was caused by sand creating a short circuit....it has been pretty breezy lately!

Fortunately power was restored after repairs, at around 7.30pm, just in time for dinner!!

And today has been a scorcher, with very little breeze.
Still people in the sea at 8.30pm tonight, and wow what a sunset! It was one of those classic San Stef ones, that bathe the whole village in a pale orange glow, the sea goes a wonderful pale turquoise, and Albania takes on hues of mauve, just stunning!
Lots of photos being taken as the sun went down

Not long now cabmufc!!

So, after some very intensly hot days, yesterday and today have been a little cooler, which, dare I say, has been very refreshing! Still been perfect sunbathing weather yesterday, without the humidity, once a little smattering of rain we had in the morning passed over!

Today was a little overcast this morning, but the sun soon broke through...although tonight the mistral winds are blowing in full force straight off the sea, so no Chilly Chili tonight, and plastic blinds down in most places!

Some live music tonight, with a Motown tribute in Thomas Bay, Duffy doing a regular Sunday night spot in Summer Dreams, and a singer in 3W's bar.

Great postings Karen, safe journey home.

So another very hot day again today, and that sun is strong!

It's a lively San Stefanos tonight, with plenty of options for a night out......Greek Nights in both Summer Dreams and 2 Stars, music in Thomas Bay, Ollie Murs/Robbie tribute in Condor Bar, Quiz night at 3W'S, and Sarah James and the red belly turtles belting out the tunes in Athens Bar.

The beachside tavernas were busy tonight too, with plenty of diners in Waves, and Chilly Chili.
Looks like it'll be another hot one again tomorrow, perfect for anyone heading out!

Not at all Karen.....keep up the good work!!

So a scorcher today, very very hot and little breeze  8)

I took Bod down to the beach around 8.30pm for his evening dunking in the stream, and the beach was still pretty busy, with quite a number of cars still parked down there, and people still enjoying a swim.

Live music tonight at El Greco, with Groucho, and tomorrow Summer Dreams have their first greek night of this season, always a popular choice.

Sorry, I've been a little lax lately with my posting, due to family here, then a change of computer meaning my automatic log in wasn't there, so had to get a new password!

So, many thanks Karen for keeping everyone up to date!  :)

So, as Karen says, weather has been amazing....hot, sunny, no clouds, a little wisp of a breeze, perfect!

The beach has been busy, and much easier to get from one part to the other, now the little bridge is back in place.

Still lots of people on the beach at 8.30pm last night, with some still swimming. And many on the patios of Manthos, Beachcombers and Fantasea enjoying the sunset.

We went to Ozzy Oil last Monday for a meal, all very nice as always, and when we arrived there was a musical trio serenading the diners for a few songs....I don't know if this is a regular thing, but it was a nice touch!

Think you might be right Karen....Mr Hippopots has just gone to Condor to watch the footie, and not that many people wandering around at the moment. Football fans must be in their chosen bars, and non fans are probably enjoying quieter tavernas!! :D

Another hot, gorgeous day, most definately pool or beach weather....the beach was pretty busy today, and the sea is a lovely temperature now!

Wind has picked up quite a bit tonight, and as it's coming in from the sea we could have a mistral for a day or two, but it is nice that it cools the temperature a little!

Yes, been lovely and hot for a few days now, well into the 30's. As Karen says, the sea mist came rolling in early afternoon, blocking the sun for a little while....I believe its caused by excessive heat, creating the haze.

So a hot day was followed by a fantastic sunset, and a nice cooling breeze down on the beach. Chilly Chili nice an busy tonight, a great vantage point for sunset watching.
Silver Moon also has lots of people sat out on their patio, enjoying a quiet drink.

Another sunny day, and hot, hot ,hot!!

We took some time out today, as Mr Hippopots turns 50 in a couple of days, so I surprised him with boat hire from Leo, (San Stefanos Boat Hire). We did a half day, which gave us plenty of time to get to Paleo and back, stopping on the way at a gorgeous beach only accessable by boat, and have a swim. If you've not done this, we can highly reccommend it, just wear plenty of suncream, as we're both a bit crispy tonight!!

Our new neighbours have opened today, serving burgers, sandwiches, salads etc....we wish them well.
