The fastest I did it in a taxi with "mad-George" driving was 38 mins!!
The Bus if you mean transfer coach takes anything from about an 55 mins to 1 hour if straight there - - -
Plus it all depends on which of 3 different alternative routes they take and how many drop-off's on the way to your place.
My worst Journey with Thompsons took 1 hour 40 mins, multi-drops - but just over the Hour is average.
I think the Local Bus takes about 1 hr. 30 mins if I remember correctly as it stops a lot.
It always takes a while as it has to go over the ''Mountain'' to get there and the journey can get slowed down on the roads there.
Hope this helps

Our recent experiences with the transfer coach have been anywhere between 1.5 hrs ansd 3 hours plus. The latter being the excetion to the normal rule. These times can vary so much as Tony says depending if the coach has to drop at any other village first and also if you are first or last off at San Stefanos. Where we stay at Teresa we are usually one of the last but one of the first on the return journey. The return journey can be horrendous.

I agree - it depends on your luck! Last year our coach went straight to San Stef. 1 hr 15 mins - the return was beset by severe traffic hold-ups at the traffic lights in the village coming down the Mountain. Never worked out what caused it - but got to the airport with an hour to spare.
I think 90% of the time it runs smoothly.
One transfer a few years back went via San Georges bay, arrillas and Stef, with multi drops, took almost 2 hours.
We just take it as it comes and try to enjoy the ride - mind you everyone leaving has a long face!!

Watch out Tony, I know these girls. They'll meet you, seem ever so nice but I assure you they will pick up on all your little idiosyncrasies, multiply them and throw them right back at you in full view of an expectant world. I strongly advise that when you undergo your transfer you do it naked bar an small real leaf, suggest a rose leaf strategically placed sans thorns obviously. This way they will have no ammunition to use against you. Not much anyway! May I also helpfully suggest you wear a Venetian carnival mask and opera glasses. Where you wear the mask is totally up to you but it could be advisable to wear it in Corfu.

Seriously though if you don't like coach travel I would suggest a taxi transfer as it can be a bit horrendous with all the stopping and starting. For some reason I am always ok travelling by coach to San Stef but usually get a bit green around the gills on the return journey. One year was so bad I was as very sick in the airport after just managing to get off the coach in time. Lucky that as I think they charge you for cleaning up if sick on the coach.

Seriously, if anyone feels sick on the bus, take quells seasick pills with you.
Take one first and they really work.
Failing that take a carrier bag - not tescos as they have holes in them!
I am the worlds worst sailor and always feel sick on a boat - but they do work and don't knock you out either.
They suppress the vomit reflex quite well - I know - Linda made me do a Cruise in the Caribbean - and not a chunder in sight!!
No Don - not your kind of cruising!!

I had a choice - I could lie and be yours and Sue's toy-boy - I can usually get away with 10 or 12 years off (he dreams)!!
or be a distinguished Gentleman - the mature man, slightly grey in the sideburns, still rather attractive in a James Bond sort of way,
you know the sort - fighting women off all day long - - - - - - - or I could wake up and smell the Roses!!! as they say.

Hmmmmm - I think I can smell Roses!! maybe I'll give up the 007 stuff!!

and - of yes - don't be cheeky you young whipper-snapper!!
Time you thought of subscribing to "Help the Aged"!!
You know - I swear Don still looks the oldest!!

Our first holiday staying at Belle Vue we got dropped off at Belle Vue but going home we had to leave our cases near the entrance and George collected them to take to the coach at Barras

Just wondering if anyone knows what the Thomson transfers are like this year.  Last year it took 3 hours because the driver did not know where he was going! ??? Going back to airport was 2.5 hours.  Just hope it's better this year, although we have to 'go with flow'!! (2 more sleeps!! :))

A trend thats becoming more and more popular with holiday makers visiting San Stefanos is to book a private taxi transfer to meet you at the airport and transport you straight to your accommodation cutting out any unwanted stops on the way. It's a lot easier and you arrive at your holiday destination a lot sooner than the transfer coach, sometimes halfing the length of the journey. Here is the link for more information.

It's our 1st time as well and I know what you mean. It's always nice to take in a new island.
Last year, we had a taxi transfer,(decided we'd push the boat out as it was our 25th anniversary), great on the way to the hotel but on the way back it came a lot later than the coach and I was really worried that we were going to be left behind. We had no idea who to contact as it had been arranged by Thomsons and the hotel couldn't help. They just kept saying don't worry! We got there a lot later than the coach and had to wait outside in the hot Kos sun. It would be different in Agios Stefanos though as the transfers could be arranged with the local travel agencies.

the transfer this year was so bad  sat for 1hr at the airport waiting for another plane then rep came on and told people going to st georges bay they would be picked up by mini bus as it was not safe to take a coach down but the driver took us down there  a bit hair raising then we got to san stef after 3hrs we got to barras but he did not say we had to get off for tsaros but as we had been before got off and told him we were tsaros we later found out they had dropped people of at the juice bar and left them there thomsons prices have gone through the roof for next year but i bet the transfer wont get any better

Depending on how many you are, a taxi can be a good alternative to sitting on a coach for hours.  There are many agencies now offering this service as well as some whom are also doing shuttle minibus/coach services for a small charge to Sidari per person and then you can pick up a pre booked taxi from there as well or from the taxi rank, which is outside the Mimosa Hotel, although on Mondays and Fridays most taxis are already at the airport for the prebooked services. Another idea becoming popular as a lot of people hire cars for a day or so, is t book a car hire there is one in San Stefanos who will deliver to the airport for you, then use this as a transfer and perhaps for the first few days as a way of sightseeing the area and then just go back on the transfer coach. If you need any contacts you can p.m. me 8)

We did the one way transfer to the Romanza last year via Noula at San Stef travel. I'd recommend it. We landed around 115pm and were sat with a beer by the pool at just after 245!! The driver was funny and it started our hol off perfectly.  The driver told us all about the big boats in the harbour in Corfu Town and also all the little villages we passed through.
The normal bus turned up around 415 pm
