Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Spoilt for choice 2012!

This is sooooo difficult. I would probably go with:
Nafsika (despite the fact that we had very bad service ther last year)
Olympia.
Ozzie oils ...

But not necessarily in that order.

Out and About / Re: How I found San Stefanos.!!!
« on: February 19, 2012, 07:03:06 PM »
We found San Stef 14 years ago. It was the first holiday with my new partner and my twins. Philip is very much a loner an does not do crowds or even cope well with a few humans in close proximity! We had been to a Thomsons Gold the year before in Yialiscari and had decided that it woyld be good to take the kids with us to Corfu. I did tons of research! I knew that we wanted a sandy beach and a quiet resort and eventually we (or rather I ) opted for two weeks at the Efi with Thomsons. (Free child place was the clincher!) The transfer coach went through Sidari.... I could see Philip's anxiety levels heighten every time the coach stopped at one of the complexes and names were called out. He remarked that if our names were called out at one of them he was on the next flight home!
We then did the hair raising coach trip through Avliotes where a boat on a trailer caused much reversing and breath holding (the coach the former, us the latter!)
As the coach went over the top of the bay we felt better. When we (being the last ones off!) eventually pulled up outside the Efi we were delighted! There was a lovely quiet pool and lots of space around it. Dimiti at the bar (there were two of them at the time; daytime Dimitri and night time Dimitri... Daytimemade better milk shakes but was very reserved as I recall.)
We spent our first two amazing weeks in San Stef. We ate at the Paradise a lot and met Glenn. We have been back every year since, bar one. This year I have five weeks and am already looking forward to it.

I was told that they make the funny cry that you can often hear at night. Its a sort of cheep/hoot and is very distinctive.

I have to say that the only places I have ever had a less than satisfactory meal was at the Little Prince and at two star. I did not eat at Little Prince all this summer (although I was in SS for five weeks) because last year I had two fairly negative experiences there. Maybe it was because I was alone but I felt that I was a bit of a nuisance and as I obviously wasn't going to be spending a lot of cash on my own I felt that both the service and the food were just about ok.
I have spoken to lots of people who love it and think that the rooms are brilliant. So as tony often says it's horses for courses really! You can only speak as you find!

What a shame! I know that there was a good deal of opposition to it by some of the local taxi drivers and some people would not sell tickets as they were afraid that it was illegal. But it was a great idea!

Have to agree wih Joan. This year there were lots of Italians on the beach in very large groups which is not a problem....unless they camp right beside you. BUT as Joan says there was very little evidence of them anywhere in the village at night. I was there for five weeks and ate out / visited many bars every night and did not see them anywhere. I spoke to many of the bar owners and they were all saying that the Italians bring their own food etc with them. Whilst I do take the point that SS is not just there for the Brits I do wish that for the sake of the village everyone would put something back into th eeconomy and not just use the beach.

Hi Sellsy. I can't answer your question about whether or not barras has fridges, but I did notice that margaritas supermarket had freezer packs that were very cheap last year so if you did want to pack your coolbag in your case you could pick up a couple of freezer packs if there was a fridge. We always take fruit and stuff to the beach but as others have said we buy drinks and snacks if we go to a pool.

He was n El Greco last year on a couple of evenings when JJ wasn't playing opposite. he also did some gigs with a couple of guys in the Thomas Bay.  Both sets were impressive.

Yet another option...

we always eat at Olympia on the first night. But everyone has their own holiday rituals. Where ever you eat you will undoubtedly eat there on the first night next time you go....as you very likely will.

Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: tsaros apts

Isn't that a self catering holiday ? Tsaros aptmts have a good reputation. There will undoubtedly be lots of people on the site who can comment on them fully.

Tsaros pool bar is great. Thanassi and his wife and dad are lovely and they do a good breakfast and snacks throughout the day.
There are plenty of excellent eating places throughout the village. Browse this site and you will pick up loads of info. When are they going?

That quote takes me back Lizzie. My mother, a Glaswegian, would always end it with "wi' other bodies coal!"
