As things stand, with Greece being Amber, you’ll need to fill out a PLF form, possibly do a free test on arrival (at their discretion) do a test in resort 2 days before returning home and do a PCR test within 72 hours of arriving home.

The 2 compulsory tests will cost in the region of £70 per adult.

We’ve used Jet2, RyanAir and Easyjet since they started, so many a year and several times some years. By far the better has been Jet2 and I’m sure everyone knows the worst of the three. The difference though, is the cheap carriers are making customers aware of the cancellations and giving them ample time to make alternative (mostly free) arrangements.

Any extra cover with booking a package has been heavily eroded by TUI by their dishonest business methods.

Independent every year for us, the locals benefit far more this way also.

TUI being cowboys and not wanting to tell their customers the real reason for the cancellation, which is obviously financial and profit related.

It’s got nothing to do with governments late decisions, which is why Jet2 and the low cost carriers are giving people plenty of notice and generally communicating honestly with their customers.

Very little notice. Some people are only finding out 2-3 days before and only then finding out because they are checking, not being contacted by TUI to tell them.

There’s a few instances of people only finding out when going to the airport to board their flight, which is obviously unforgivable.

I anticipate with what’s happening this year with the package deals, a lot more people are being forced to book independent and once they realise how easy and convenient it is, they will continue to do so in future years.

A long term bonus for our friends in the village.

The Barras are starting their Bouzouki/Greek nights this Sunday. Whether there will be audience participation this year is yet to be seen, but it’s a fantastic night regardless.

According to the FB groups it’s just the lead passenger on each PLF that has been getting tested lately. Earlier in the summer it was every passenger I believe.

For anyone travelling with kids, here’s the guidance for them:-

Children under the age of 18 will not have to isolate when returning to England. While the recommendation that people should not travel to amber countries is being removed, children aged 4 and under will continue to be exempt from any travel testing. Children aged 5 to 10 will only need to do a day 2 PCR and 11 to 18 year olds will need to take both a pre-departure test and a day 2 PCR – as is the case for arrivals from green list countries.

Correct, typo.

I think a pre departure test is still required in Corfu along with the day 2 test on return.Not ideal and personally think it should be lateral flow test only, but it’s progress atleast.

Schapps has spoken. Quarantine free travel for children and the double jabbed can commence from 16th July. Get booking those flights  ;D

So it looks like today is the day. Grant Schapps to make a statement on travel at 11:30 today.

All the papers reporting that it will be no quarantine for those double jabbed when returning from amber countries. A PCR will still be required on day 2 of returning home. Children of those double jabbed will still need a PCR but again no quarantine. Full details at 11:30.
