Jimbo, I wasn't suggesting for one minute that you weren't. This isn't about you ;D I was merely voicing my opinion that I thought WinJ got a bit of a hard time

I do think WinJ got a bit of a hard time. If you read the original entry it was not about 'smoking', it was about 4 people chain smoking all through a meal. Even when I was a smoker (and was for 30 years to my regret) I would have found that pretty unacceptable. The suggestion was not to ban smoking but to have smoking sections - what's wrong with that? I know that smoking is part of the greek culture as I've been travelling there for 25 years but maybe it's time to move with the times? For the record, if someone was smoking  at the table next to me I would not be bothered but I understand that some would be.

I think it's sometimes just a language thing. Quite often we ask a greek person something and they say 'of course' which can sound a bit rude/sarcastic/intolerant, but it's not meant in that way. I've always found Noula very polite and friendly

We also find that once in SS we just totally relax. We had a few things on our minds this year but still managed to just switch off, it's just so relaxing. The people are just so friendly and you know that when you venture out in the evening a lovely meal awaits you! I long for my holidays but hate wishing my life away cos it's too precious

My friend just text messaged me from Agios Gordios, it's their last night (they are at the Greek night at Stevens on the Hill). I physically slumped cos I hate last nights! How do you cope? We always have a curfew (which we call a Corfu) and always break it by at least 30 mins!

Akrotiri only do snacks not 'proper' meals and you have to ask for the menu. But what a setting?! Where is Gravia?

Sorry Tony C , couldn't log on last night. We were in the Grand Suite as a special treat for big birthdays and our 25th wedding anniversary. It was superb. Stayed in the Sunflower last year. Both have excellent views, really well maintained and really clean (thanks to the lovely Wendy). We had clean towels every day this year! And of course Noula and the girls are really friendly and very helpful. Bonus is the mozzie nets on the doors and windows!

Hubby and I were in San Steph 16 -26th July. Another fab, relaxing holiday. Stayed at Margaritas Suites again which are wonderful. As soon as we arrived we received the usual friendly (and genuine) welcome from people we had and hadn't met before. Sunbathed outside Mango - lovely comfy beds and really lovely staff. Most days the sea was a bit choppy but the last couple of days it was lovely and calm.
Pre dinner pints of Mythos in Summer Dream, Princess but mostly Acabar. We also went up to Akrotiri a couple of evenings before dinner. Looks like they have added some more decking since last year. Fantastic chilled out bar with glorious views. We decided its the best bar we have ever been for views and chilled atmosphere.
Had some great meals in Fantasea, Olympia,Beachcomber and Yiannis (up past Tasty Corner, not the one opposite Athens bar) and Nafsika. Zorbas (our favourite last year) and Two Stars were just ok - that's just our opinion.
After dinner drinks in Athens where there was some v good entertainment especially the 7 piece band, El Grecos or if we wanted a quiet one, Princess.
Won the quiz in Nafsika! Met friends we had made last year which was really nice.
Disappointed that we didn't get up to the Romanza and that the boat trip to Paleo left at 8.45 (too early when on holiday!!)
In all, another fab holiday and we will definitely be returning
