To be honest, I didn`t rate the food at all. My wife thought it was ok. We stayed there half board but by the end of our stay we were going out to the local restaurants. Half board residents were given a separate menu to choose from which consisted of soup  , a choice of 3 starters and 3 main courses and then a dessert. This was a different menu to what you would get if you were a non resident. I`d read the reviews about the food and I really can`t see where people are coming from . The breakfast was good but generally you can`t do anything to a breakfast to muck it up can you?  Usually in places we have stayed the hotel put on a special night, no special nights here. There is a guy on a keyboard playing music but it is obviously taped and he`s only going through the motions, he was on every night while people were in the restaurant. I overheard one guy at the reception talking about next year and it would appear they are offering self catering  and a different price for bed and breakfast. Still expensive though. Don`t get me wrong , we had a good time but I really think there is better value to be had elsewhere for half the money. While I`m here.... one thing that annoyed me was, we finished our meal at 10-30 one night and thought we`d go and have a drink at the bar by the pool. We got down there and it was shut ! The barman didn`t have any customers so he went home. I guess we could have gone back to the restaurant but decided to have an early night instead. There was just no atmosphere at all. I`m used to finishing my evening off with a few beers and having a friendly chat but most of the time my wife and I were the only ones at the bar, so we had a lot of early nights!!

We stayed at the Delfino Blu in July this year. We chose it because of the rave reviews. Also it looked really nice and it was right by the beach. The hotel is well decorated , comfortable and clean. The food was ok but for me there was some strange combinations. The guests were couples and families and from different nationalities. However it was very much overpriced, we feel as though we could have found somewhere equally comfortable and clean for a lot less money. We also found there was no atmosphere particularly in the evening around the bar, which shut some nights at 10-30pm. We would not stay there again.

You would have loved it last week on the trip to the Blue Lagoon Zoe . Really rough waves, sick bags being handed out and a lot of people looking ill. It put me off boat trips for a while. I could still feel the boat rocking the next day. It was quite amusing at times watching people trying to walk about the deck.

San Stefanos news and views / Re: PORTLAND BROCHURE 2010
« on: June 30, 2009, 10:06:51 PM »
Portlands brochure for next Summer is now available. We have just booked our 2 weeks for the normal times in August 2010 at Teresa.

http://www.portlandholidays.co.uk/default.asp?&SOURCE=goog&referrer=google&ito=2152&itc=64
What already, they may not want you back!!
There brochure is really late this year. Last year the first edition came out in April - thats how long ago this years was booked. ;)
Go on then - how much!!
£816.00 total for the 2 weeks. Approximately £100.00 more than this years but cheaper than booking through the normal Thomson brochure which was about £70.00 more than Portland. It seems daft that there is a price difference when they are part of the same company. Having said all that I forgot about looking for any promotion discounts beforehand. I believe you can save about £100.00 with a promo code. Still at least we know we are going again.

That's a fab price Jules.
I've looked again in the last few mins for next June and already price has risen compared to last night. Looking at around £900 for 2 weeks self-catering thru' Portland.
The fact is Tereza's is getting more popular with more people as 'newbies' stay there (like us this year). Supply and demand and all that. I fear we won't be able to go next year in June at this rate. Can't book yet because of my wife's work committments (she's in retail and they're not allowed to book hols until their staffing levels are worked out re. holiday requests).
The real 'scandal' is that it's Portland/Thomsons that set prices - and 'take' most of the money. The smaller hotels/apts owners in the Med get very little from tour operators in terms of money. The hotels only make money from their guests.
Have you tried booking Tereza`s  direct?

Not sure if I would rely on getting holiday spending money from a cash machine. Imagine if the machine swallowed your card. You`d be stuffed good and proper. I only use the card in an emergency. Usually take cash or travellers cheques.

What`s a typical day for you regulars when you are in san stef ? Do you still find new things to do or is it relaxing by the pool by day and tavernas by night ?

I would have thought that was quite normal. I wouldn`t expect to use any facilities without buying a couple of drinks. Fairly easy to spend 5 euros at the bar !

Hello everybody we have finally made it to San Stefanos. The weather is lovely a little cloud at lunchtime but very hot this afternoon. The beer is very cold and is going down far too quick (I hate these glasses with a hole in the bottom!! :D). The food is absolutely fantastic so far and I am expecting to resemble a horse after two weeks :D. I must admit it is totally different to what I was expecting. Much more compact but perfect. The transfer from the airport was an experience, these roads are definately not made for coaches!!. It was pretty quick though and we were the first drop (About 50 mins), Even the bags at the airport only took 10 mins to appear.
It is amazing how friendly everybody is everywhere you go.
That's really good for bags at the airport - normally a heck of a lot longer lol!! Glad the beers going down well. :)
It's all sounding good - can't wait!!
We've known it to take almost 2 hours at the airport to get our luggage.
Jules, please tell me you are joking!!!
