Where to eat out in San Stefanos? / Re: Spoilt for choice 2014
« on: April 18, 2014, 11:23:09 PM »
Gavlah, 2stars was very good for our 3 year old last year (I remember you have a young one too), lots of room for him to run around without disturbing other diners in between courses and a box of toys to play with. Plus a sparkler with dessert always gets the thumbs up from our little one!

Ah, the Olympia debate again - how I've missed it. I'm on Rae and Gavlah's side, its been empty most times we've been past in Sept 2012 and June 2013 (yes, we're comparative newcomers to SS!).  We were 2 stars and Little Prince regulars but would like to try Nafsica and Zorbas this year.  And, as we're celebrating our first wedding anniversary there this year, we need to find somewhere for that night.  Any thoughts?

What sort of action are you expecting?Things haven't changed much for years but that's part of the charm. It's the Original Greek Taverna.
If you have never eaten there please don't be put off by the exterior which can only be described as "shabby chic".Once you pass through that
archway you will be made welcome and perhaps invited into the kitchen to see what's cooking. It's the perfect place to eat on a balmy evening.
You can enjoy your meal while watching the sunset. At lunchtime it's a short walk off the beach and you have a view of the whole bay.

Completely agree! Our in laws who stay regularly in Arillas came over to join us for a day and we sat and spent a lazy lunch with fabulous sardines and octopus.  We did the return leg at Brouklis in Arillas, another excellent meal, well worth a 45 minute walk over the hill!

Out and About / Re: Beach now?

it looks similar to last year (i.e. after it got narrowed by the early 2013 storms).  I agree that it does look slimmer outside Havana and Mango (unlike me  ;)!)

I think its time that whole play area was removed, when we were there in Sept 2012 it was home to a massive wasp nest

Fab idea, you can only tell so much from the webcam! It'd be good to hear about what's going on in the village, whether there's been any more erosion of the beach and of course a daily weather update!

Our son will be 5 in July. He started school last September, so now we're 'restricted' to taking him in school holidays.  As I posted last week, we don't want to take him in August when its too hot, so we're travelling in May half term. Don't tell anyone though  ;), but we are going in the week before hand, so he'll miss 4 days of school.  I don't think his education is going to suffer...!!  Of course, when he's a bit older, we'll have to think about it more and make a much more informed decision.

Yes, we felt the wind too last year in mid-June (we were there 9-20 June).  I ended up watching the forecast online here: http://poseidon.hcmr.gr/weather_forecast.php?area_id=gr Corfu is top left...

Thanks for all your replies so far, fingers crossed for 2012 weather rather than 2013!

San Stefanos news and views / Weather in late May??

Now that our son is at school, we're resigned to taking our holidays over half term rather than risk the wrath and a fine from the Govt. So, rather than risk the August heat, we're returning to SS in the half term at the end of May, much earlier than our previous visits in Sept 2012 and mid June 2013.  What do you think we can expect from the weather and will everything be open in the village?  Given its half term, I assume there'll be plenty of other holidaymakers getting their first summer fix of SS.

We love Little Prince for the welcome and entertainment, but this year I'm determined to spread our culinary wings and try Nafsica and Zorbas, and if we get time, I'd like to try Beachcomber as well!

Delfino Blu also have a couple of apartments in the block next to their hotel, which are lovely and look out over the bay towards the harbour.

We were in Majorca one year when Spain beat Germany and the whole town went crazy after the game.  All the stuff you usually see on TV, flags being waved from cars, kids on motorbikes, horns blaring out... one of the tribute act bars had a lady who burst into Viva Espana - what a great night!!

Information and help please / Re: EasyJet 2014
« on: October 11, 2013, 04:07:43 PM »
Hi Waspman. The easyjet price promise is ok in theory but the discount on future flights has to be used within six months. Our £51 discount code expired three weeks ago and next years flights went on sale yesterday. Oh well!

Funny that! Anyone would think they know that when they choose to release the flights...  ;)

Thanks Tony, I think we'll give it a try when he's a bit bigger, plenty of time for that, we intend to keep coming back.
