Hippopots is great, our little one was very proud of his green gecko with orange stripes and yellow spots!  Say hi to them when you go, she'll remember us.  Next door to there is the Athens bar, make sure you go there when they've got live music, its great! Or for something more cheesy, Condor bar is the other side, next door to Zorbas restaurant.  If you have a look at the Online Map link at the top of the page you can get your bearings a bit more...

We've just got back with our (nearly) 5 year old.  As everyone says, the beach is wide, sandy and very safe for children and when the sea is calm, its so shallow that your little one will be fine.  When it does get a bit more wavy its still fun to do some wave jumping with him, which he thought was fantastic! The fact that its so shallow means its still very safe for that!

All the restaurants do 'english' food for children and she'll love the fire dancing at Zorbas and the Little Prince.  Both are a very short walk from Barras (Zorbas is opposite the Thomas Bay hotel and Little Prince is on the way to the beach).

Have a great time!

We watched the first stage of clearance this morning; many lorry loads left the beach, most of the 2 massive piles that were outside Waves - the most obvious bits you can see on the webcam. A HUGE amount remains to be cleared though, stretching from there all the way to the pontoon. It's about 2-3 feet deep and 10 feet wide all the way. They've done well today, but it's far from finished.  As you can see as well, the bridge is back in place after the JCB also created a new channel straight to the sea directly from the gully.  Cloudy and cooling off now, we're told rain is on the way for the last 48 hours of our time here... Still, it's been as lovely and we've had a fab time as always.

We spoke to Noula this morning about it and she confirmed that they're waiting for the authorities to do the work, which has been delayed due to the elections last week. Now that they're done, hopefully things will get started. She said she asked a group of restauranteurs last week including Dimitris at LP, but she was told that they couldn't do anything without the relevant paperwork. Hang in there everyone, and in the meantime, use the pools and the beach from Mango and Havana, it's completely clear there.

We've been here since last Tuesday and have seen no sign of anyone clearing the beach. One morning a digger turned up and took one load away, but nothing since. Outside waves there are 2 piles around 6 or 7 feet high and further down past Athina it's about 2 feet deep and approx 1\3rd the width of the beach (there's one row of beds there, but you couldn't walk into the sea if you wanted to. It thins out around the pontoon and there on, there is no seaweed.  Some say its due to the elections that it hasn't been cleared, others say they're waiting for the weather to settle. Whatever it is, it's making that end of the beach unusable.

Lots of photos of the beach (and seaweed!) have been added (not by me) to the San Stefanos Avliotes page on Facebook.

Corfu-info.com seems to work well for me. Gave my parents back home in England a wave from there this morning so apologies to anyone taking a look at around 9.30 English time, that was me and my lot!

Seaweed update - I stood beside one of the piles outside Waves this morning and it's higher than me (I'm 5'9"). I saw one lorry load taken away at about 10.30 and nothing since. The only sunbeds available are outside Mango.

Gorgeous day on the beach today. We walked the full length of the beach after lunch and were surprised that the rocks from last year have been covered up by sand, so the beach now goes on for even longer!

Next tough decision is whether it's Zorba's, 2 stars or Little Prince tonight...

Hi, we arrived today and the beach is in a really sorry state towards Waves and where the bridge was (it's gone too). There's now a wall of seaweed between waves, Manthos and the sea which going to take weeks to clear. With half term next week, a lot of new visitors to SS are going to get a really bad impression of the beach, which will be such a shame.  The seaweed spreads as far down as. Mango before it stops.

I have now got the live view, but not from the forum link. Went to San Stefanos Travel web site via search engine, located web cam and saved live view to favourites. I can not get the live view from the Forum link on ipad, android phone, android tablet or windows PC.

Me too, nothing from the live view link on the forum.  Got it via corfu-info.com, and wow, the beach looks like a building site today outside Waves!

I use Accuweather: http://www.accuweather.com/en/gr/aghios-stefanos/2283443/weather-forecast/2283443

and a sailing forecast: http://poseidon.hcmr.gr/weather_forecast.php?area_id=gr

Accuweather predicts further out, but as Andy says, anything beyond the next few days is largely guesswork.  I like to use the ones that show that the sun's going to shine!

2 weeks today, we'll be just about landing at the airport.  No return trip later in the year booked....yet!

Getting very excited now, and watching the forecast it seems to be settling down to the lovely mid-high 70s.

Aahhh, I can smell the Mythos...

I'd second the recommendation for Brouklis in Arillas. Dimitri is a fantastic and very knowledgeable host and we had a fabulous evening there last June.

Keep looking at the log range forecast for our arrival in 3 weeks time, but slightly concerned by the low temps at the moment.  Are we worrying too much?!
